Quote I can't play Blu-ray of 2019 due to aacs license issue.
Do I have to buy the new 2019 version?
How many years is the aacs license supported?

The retail version of PowerDVD 12 Ultra still plays the latest Blu-rays as tomasc mentioned and I outlined here.

Since you have an OEM version, it may be different. It depends how long the OEM manufacturer wanted to provide AACS support for. So you should contact the OEM manufacturer's customer service and ask them if their support is still active.

Quote Does Smart Fit reduce the quality of the AVCHD video on a DVD?

Yes. The bitrate is adjusted (lowered) so the file fits on the disc.

Dave
It is if you read the FAQ questions. You need to contact Cyberlink customer service to get your new download link.

Quote Ok, I know this post is 7+ years old, but unfortunately nothing has been done about this issue by Cyberlink to date.

I first purchased PDVD at version 17. Found it stuttered.

Tried version 18. Found it stuttered.

Tried version 19. Found it stuttered.

Problem occurs with MKV files. Yes, Reclock does help to solve this issue, but it doesn't support V18 (later versions) or V19.

So basically the stuttering remains and there appears to be no fix.

For a media player that is so well featured and focused on playing videos, to have stuttering video like this is just crazy.

I've got an i7 7700k with 1660ti gpu 32gb ram and i still can't play videos without powerdvd stuttering!

Every other player i've tried works just fine except for powerdvd.

It really annoys me because i love the truetheater enchancements and would happily be a loyal lifetime customer if this issue was finally fixed. But if it hasn't been fixed in 7 years, i doubt it ever will.

Weird..I have used the last few versions of PowerDVD and never experience judder playing Blu-ray and MKV files with TrueTheater enabled. So not sure where the bug is you are referring to. Plus, these other users are talking about projectors and Blu-rays, so it is clearly different.

Judder is often caused by audio, so check your output settings.

Dave
How do you want to play the discs later? If you don't want to compress the files, just burn them as data discs in Power2Go. This will let you access the uncompressed original files on a disc on other computers.

If you want to burn as a playable Blu-ray or DVD, then the files must be compressed to encode them in the Blu-ray video/DVD video formats. A dual-layer Blu-ray Disc though can hold up to 50 GB of video.

I can't login to application manager at all. It just keeps making me do it over and over.

Try uninstalling CAM and then downloading and reinstalling. That seems to work for most people:

If that doesn't work...then customer service.

Quote Thi is happening with PowerDVD 17 now to me. Seems when new products are released older versions dont work

Well that is not accurate, at least for PowerDVD Ultra. As I posted here, my old version of PowerDVD 12 can still play Blu-rays released this year:

https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/80832.page#post_box_332601

Your issue is caused by something else most likely. Do you have an OEM vesion (i.e. came with a computer or drive?). If not, then it means something on your computer is probably blocking the updates. Have you contacted technical support about it?

Dave
This is what the ease in/out control options are for. Check out this old tutorial that introduces the concept, but it is available in the video speed feature in PowerDirector 18.

Quote Hi community,

I have a few questions that have been hovering around my mind for a short while, and I can't seem to find any conculsive answers anywhere else, unless I'm just not typing in the right search terms, but I'm hoping that I can get some answers here.

1.) According to Sony, their AACS key for the PS3 console expires after 12-18 months and this is one of the reasons why it requres peroidic updates, even if you watch old bluray movies released before said key was updated.

So I think from this, when Sony drops support, people will then only have this long to play Bluray movies on their console.

Is the same true for Cyberlink when, in the far future, PowerDVD 19 support is dropped and updates ended? Or will you be able to keep watching your old movies on your PC for as long as you like?

2.) Does PowerDVD have a reactivation limit? Say for example you reinstall windows 10 every year, to start fresh after a major update, will PowerDVD one day just stop activating again?

3.) What are your experiences with this? Are your old versions of PowerDVD released years ago, and beyond updating, still able to play Bluray films?

I know peroidic updating is requred to continue watching new movies released, but I'm talking of bluray films in general.

Thanks in advance

Most of your questions can be answered in the FAQ: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/79693.page

That being said, I just tried a little experiment for you. I actually still have my copy of PowerDVD 12 on a disc, so I installed it and updated it to the latest version. This version is significant, because if you look at the patch updates list, version 12 is the last version that is still supported (Check the wording on the patch updates list for 11).

I put in the first Blu-ray I had on hand, and was asked to update the keys, which I did and then the disc played. I then put in the newest Blu-ray that I have, which was released earlier this year and it played without issue in PowerDVD 12.

So hopefully this should answer all your questions. And yes there is a limit to the number of times you can activate the software from what I have learned on this forum.

Dave
The answers to both your questions can be found in the FAQ:

Quote Hi,

I was considering purchasing the latest version of Power2Go.

Does anyone know if it can perform like the old freeware program DVDShrink which was able to compresss feature-length footage onto a standard 4.7gb DVD with no loss of quality?

Or does anyone know of a Cyberlink product which can do this? Before anyone advises me to just use DVDShrink, support for it stopped some time ago and it doesn't seem to like my current Windows 7 64bit machine (worked okay with Win7 32bit previuosly).

Also, I really like Cyberlink products! They are easy to use yet powerful and work well together. I'd be over-the-moon if they have such a product or would develop one as it would help with my longer video projects!

Luke

Power2Go does have a feature called SmartFit that will shrink video to fit on a DVD with the best possible quality. Just note though that the best quality a DVD can deliver is 480p, so if you are using HD footage, it will not be as good a quality on a DVD.

Maybe check out Power2Go 13 Essentials and see if it fits you needs. You can find it at the below link under the "Burn & Backup" heading:

Quote Hi

Where do I find the Activation code for Power Media Player for Android with PowerDVD 19 Ultra?

I have downloaded it using the QRCode within PowerDVD but unlike with PowerDVD 16 it asking to go Premium for 37kr with No Banner Ads and DTS audio support, is this correct?

Mark

There is no activation code anymore, as there is only one version of Power Media Player now. Unlike before where there was the bundled version and the free version. Now there is just the free version, which can be updated to the Premium version via subscription.

Less confusing I think.

Dave
Hi, it's hard to know exactly because you didn't provide information, but burn issues are usually hardware related, i.e. burner.

Try looking at these FAQs for help:

https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=12808

If that doesn't help, contact tech support for your burner or for CyberLink.

Yes that window right there. Doesn't show up even if I'm zoomed in. They should do away with it and just let you zoom and pan with the mouse and keyboard.

If you closed the navigation window at some point (by clicking the X in the top right cornr), you need to select Navigation in the zoom dropdown (shown in Pix's image) to get it back.

You can zoom and pan using the mouse and keyboard. Click and drag your mouse to pan. Hold down Ctrl key and use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

Dave
It is not supported for BD playback, an issue we have been discussing here for years. Apparently, it is a trade off for faster disc loading times, which more users want.

Quote from the help:

"The Auto-Resume setting section lets you set the behavior of CyberLink PowerDVD when you play a DVD disc or video file (in the movie/TV show library) you viewed previously"

Dave
Hi. The easiest way to do this is to place the music folder you want into the Windows Music folder, i.e.:

"C:\Users\user_name\Music"

Then in PowerDVD, just go to the My Computer section on the left and select "Music". You will see the music folders you added.

Quote Hi,

I recently bought a Samsung 27 inch curved, 144Hz monitor... and when I watch videos, there is ghosting (stuttering) image especially when the camera is panning left and right.

I set Response Time to Normal... but there is still ghosting.

Does anyone have any idea what settings should I make to have smooth videos?

Thank you!

A computer's GPU driver or the display device settings are the main causes of this issue. Try updating your GPU and checking the settings.

Dave
Hi, I just tried during Blu-ray playback in PowerDVD 18 and it works on both sides for me. I would suggest ensuring you have the latest build installed:

https://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdvd-ultra/patches_en_US.html

And ensuring you GPU drivers are up to date. This one might be the causes on your system.

  1. Volume control does not work when powerDVD 19 is running. The volume control inside PowerDVD nor the windows volume control as long as PowerDVD19 is running. (I already have the checkbox unchecked for allowing exclusive control etc)

  2. There must be some way that when in PC mode that I can click on titles directly inside PowerDVD when accessing a Blueray movie. I realize that I get a warning saying I should use the control(navigation) panel. I feel like I should be able to click on the titles directly for the amount of money I have spent on this program.

thank you for your time.

None of these are new feature requests. The first one seems like an issue on your setup. I have no problems with volume control use with the mouse, or with the hotkeys playing a Blu-ray in both PC and TV Mode. Maybe contact CL tech support for assistance, or give more details about your setup:

https://membership.cyberlink.com/support/service/technical-support.do

For the other one, no it is not possible because all discs are designed differently. Use the keyboard hotkeys is faster anyway for me.

I have also seen prices that are very different ($ 6) on the internet, for example here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183989933435

Do not buy PowerDVD software off eBay. It is not an official reseller, so these copies are usually second hand and may have expired product keys.

Here is a list of official resellers. You can check the prices in your country:
