Hello,

What message did you receive? Try sharing a screenshot of the message.

Dave
Hi,
You can try getting it from Amazon...it's around the same price: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=powerdvd+17

Dave
Hi Joher,

PowerDVD doesn't actually import or make a copy of the files. It is just data that it keeps track of, i.e. where your media files are. So it doesn't create extra space for each file.

The search on here is kinda limiting. I don't think you can filter like you want to.

Dave
Hello,

DVDs, or most discs for that matter, cannot be streamed to other devices. It is usually just video and audio files that are streamable.

Dave
Hello,

PowerDVD 17 works fine with all my MKV files, and I have a lot of them. Which codec are being used in these MKV files?

Also a good idea to ensure you have the latest PowerDVD 17 installed (https://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdvd-ultra/patches_en_US.html), and update your drivers.

Dave
Hi,

Glad the first problem is fixed. SPDIF will not work for DolbyTrueHD and DTS HD, i.e. the audio is downmixed. Basically I have found that using HDMI is the best option when playing HD content, because it is currently the industry standard.

Dave
Hello,

Two things: 1. PowerDVD 17 doesn't support UHD BD folder playback yet. 2. I don't think there are fully decrypted UHD BDs yet. Case in post, copyright protection is preventing the video from being displayed on your screen. Either the file is still partially encrypted or was corrupted.

Mounting the ISO on a virtual drive won't help either, as the UHD Blu-ray advisor is clearly telling you that your PC does not saisfy the requirements for UHD Blu-ray playback. Also, PowerDVD doesn't support UHD BD ISO playback either.

Dave
Hello Olivier,

Thanks for the screenshot. That is strange and might be more of a Windows issue, as it should have been removed when it was uninstalled. You could try to reinstall PowerDVD 12 and then uninstall again, but that seems extreme. Just ignore it?

For the sound issue, Blu-ray has content protection not only video but on the audio as well. This is probably why you are seeing this.

High definition audio will be limited to play in lower 48K 16 bit if the PC applied an analog audio connection from PC to speakers. How is your laptop connected to the speakers? Best to use HDMI to connected certified digital audio receiver for protected HD audio output.

Dave
Hello Olivier,

First, yes there is a difference between the version of PowerDVD 17 in Media Suite and the full Ultra version. You can view the comparison table here: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=19882

Second, what is your current audio settings? Go to Settings > Video, Audio, Subtitles > More Audio Settings. What are your output quality settings.

Lastly, not sure what you mean that you are receiving PowerDVD 12 errors still. Did you completely uninstall the media suite that came with the drive? If no, do that and then reinstall the new media suite version.

You should also make sure you update your PowerDVD 17 to the latest version: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdvd-ultra/patches_en_US.html

To be clear, what I said is that DVD playback has more feature availabilities in "powerdvd", and cyberlink doesn't implement what you want (that legacy TMT has it) for BD in its program. Then, my conclusion: Video file > DVD >> BD >>> UHDBD .

Technical reason is not needed, as they jusy didn't implement it on BD.
So, if you want a 2.35:1 BD movie to be seamless displaying on 16:9 monitor by cropping, it is not available in powerdvd currently.

Just search the old topics on forum for users who own 21:9 monitor, you will get cyberlink conclusion without further asking.
They were talking about the same/similar feature you mentioned in TMT.

Hi,

Features like the current instant zoom feature not being implemented are usually due to copyright and BDA restrictions on Blu-rays, not a CyberLink choice.

There is a rumour out there that version 18 will have a crop feature for Blu-rays on 21:9 monitors. Will have to wait until the release to see.

Dave
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.

We can't say for sure that your GPU is not compatible, it could be a driver that needs updating.

Please generate your DXDiag file, and then attach it in your reply.

You can see here for info on how to generate: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/63543.page#post_box_289538

Dave
Hello,

You said "Using a Radeon 7770, with a more than adequate driver"...what is the version of your driver?

I checked and there was a driver update last week.

Dave
Hello,

You just have to wait for customer service to respond. Remember to save a digital backup when you get your link.

Dave
Hello,

As indicated above, it is because the headsets don't have the required copyright protection. In the PowerDVD help it says:

Note: the playback of discs, CyberLink Cloud media, home media (DLNA), ISO files, or disc folders is not available in VR mode.

So unless the copyright protection specs of the VR headsets improve.

Hello Tom,

As the King mentioned, PowerDirector Mobile already does. I found this FAQ that provides more detail:

https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=19787&prodId=360&prodVerId=-1&CategoryId=-1&keyword=powerdirector%20mobile

This one provides some more information as well:

You seemed to have missed my point. It is a Google Chrome thing, and is easily managed in settings. You keep barking up the wrong tree. You had to have authorized it, otherwise they wouldn't show notifications. It is a PBKAC error, not a thing you should be asking CyberLink about. Especially when these notifications are quite common.
Hello,

This is not a CyberLink Channel on YouTube thing, but a setting in Chrome. For this to be enabled, you had to have clicked the "Allow" button when asked if the CyberLink web site can send you notifications.

I get asked all the time on many many web sites, and always do not allow this.

You do not need to go into the registry to change anything. It is in Chrome, and very easy to disable and edit allowed web sites:

https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3220216?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

Maybe try Google before you blame a company for something you or someone using your computer "Allowed"

Dave
Hi,
I doubt it, as there are no 21:9 consumer video cameras on the market. It is just a trend for computer monitors for video games and movies as far as I can tell.
The video camera market is what drives PowerDirector format support.
Dave
Hi Alec,
The answer is "Yes you can!" Please see the attached photo and tell me if it is similar to what you want.
Basically what I did as a test was, in a 360 project use the 360 photo that comes in the PowerDirector library, and then imported a circular logo and placed it on a lower track on the timeline. Then I opened the logo in the PiP Designer and placed it exactly where I wanted it in the 360 sphere.
Then I took a screenshot via the 360 preview window, which exports it as a new 360 photo. If you view the attached photo in a 360 viewer, the logo displays at the bottom of the sphere.
Let me know if you have questions, and if this is what you meant.

From a design perspective, I'm surprised anyone would use a semicolon when a period (.) is available.

Hi,

Well...because it was a decision made by an engineer I am sure, not a graphic artist type of designer. So not suprising

Thanks...you are close. The logo is based on the Royal Canadian Air Force's logo (a tribute to them). It is for the NHL hockey team in my hometown, i.e. the Winnipeg Jets.

Dave
Hello,

It is not alien, it's a common way to signify that the project is using drop frame timecode for NTSC video:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMPTE_timecode#Drop_frame_timecode

If you don't like it, just go to General preferences and switch to non-drop timecode.
