Quote As I wrote in my earlier post, all you have to do is take a PNG or BMP snapshot.

The full resolution screen capture will be taken, saved to the default folder (or the one that you specified when saving the file), and added to the media library. Simply click on the camera icon under the preview window to do that.

If for any reason that isn't high enough quality for you, please attach the image to your reply using this forum button:

Also, what is the resolution of your source clips? Right click on each one anywhere in PD and choose View Properties

Good you mentioned that about checking each pics properties. I thought I had done the one screen capture as PNG but hadn't. So it got it up to 5mb. I then saved the snapshot of the display as PNG. Thanks!
Quote FrancoisT - If your video is on track 1 of the timeline then try this: Highlight the video clip with the cursor where you want a snapshot. Right mouse click and choose Edit Video/Freeze Frame. This was explained in the forum earlier by Jeff. The referencece post that you refer to for PD14 does not work in PD16 for any video greater than 1920 x 1080 in resoultion.
.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear. I found GIMP so difficult I gave up after many hours. I could actually do it using PD16. I am trying to use PD16 to put a greenscreened image onto another image as background. I have the background picture on track1 and the cutout picture on track two. I see the image of the 2 tracks combined in the display. I want to see how I can save the highest resolution of the display.
Quote If you're referrring to this post, the options are all present for PD16. Also note the Save As option when PD asks you to name the screen shot.

There isn't any kind of resolution setting available, but PD seems to intend JPGs for low quality needs (suitable for YouTube thumbnails) with PNG and BMP meant for detailed, full screen captures.

Thanks for the reply. That link to a previous post looks interesting. Actually this was the post I was referring to: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/32594.page
In it he says "Preferences (Alt+C) > File. Under Snapshot check that you have checked 'Use original video size as snapshot image quality wherever possible'. ". I don't have that option in pd16.
After finally giving up on understanding GIMP on how to do a fairly simple greenscreen image on top of another I tried it in PD16. I actually did way better. However, I couldn't figure out how to send the final result out as a PNG or JPG so I tried a snapshot. Even though one of the photos is 4.6 mb the snapshot comes out only 260 kb. There was a post on a similar question on an earlier version but it spoke of preferences/file and then an option under snapshot allowing the original resolution but I don't find that in PD16? Thanks
Quote Like I said, the download was probably only available for a few weeks, so you'll need to contact Cyberlink to download the program again. There are several relevent FAQs on this Support page.

Yes, went to the trouble to fill out the form and now wait. They should have just left the ability to download up and if you can prove you paid for it eliminates these jumping through hoops.
Quote It should show up under My Account when you're signed in at the main Cyberlink website.

Note that many download links expire after a few weeks, so you may need to contact them to request another download link. It is strongly recommended to keep the installer in a safe place so you'll be able to install the program again.

It doesn't show up there? The original download is likely on a hard drive that is far from where I'm at.I still have the code from buying it though.
I bought Youcam 7 but need to reinstall it. I looked on the Cyberlink site but see only Youcam 8. Could someone direct me to the place where I can download my version? Thanks
I've got 2 action cams running. They just keep recording and make a separate video when 4gb is used. If you put them back to back you don't see or hear the split. In this case each of the 2 video tracks has 3 separate videos. There is also a separate audio track which will be the main audio. This is just a casual recording of a practice session. I wanted to put it in the multi sync area so I can easily switch between the videos after they are synced to the audio. However, I am now waiting for hours making the 1st video tracks 3 videos into one video so it can be used in the multitrack part. This is a very long process. Is there a way to avoid having to render each video track separately before I can use the multisync function? Thanks
Quote Hi,

Autosave settings are found in Preferences>Project. Both Save interval and Save location can be set.

CL uses an Application Manager to manage updates and downloads. the FAQ page is here: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/general-faq-list.do#c155

Unfortunately it is an issue where the downloads required are large and the user is in a remote locations or on mobile internet but there may be no way round it if the update is required.

I would recommend contacting CS with the issue of the failed installation, but I think you may have to try the whole update process again.

Cheers

I didn't know about that Autosave option. Thanks. To me those 268mb should remain until the update is completed. Absurd to have to do it over and over again if the update fails in terms of cost, time and bandwidth.
I spent much time on a video. I started the render. Part of the way through it announced pd16 had stopped working but maybe if I downloaded the update it might work again. By the way, there should be degrees of auto save in this program. Many very basic and free progams, like Libre free word processing(and forums) have auto save. I downloaded a little file then when clicked it started downloading 268MB. I'm out of the country on mobile internet which is quite expensive and slow. It downloaded it all and got 87% of the way through then gave the error message ${IDS_CL_FOLDERLOCKEDINFOMSG_Enu}. Nothing I could do to get around it. Restarted the pc and the 268 mb are gone from the download folder. They just assume one can casually download such a big file I guess. To me it looked suspiciously like the update somehow caused the render to fail. My previous renders didn't fail. Here it fails and immediately I see the message to update and maybe a solution. Many regrettable aspects of this.
Quote I found a quick and dirty solution to my problem: Use a mouse macro recorder utility like Mini Mouse Macro or similar. Adjust its execution (play macro) time to minimum and you 're okay!

Interesting. I haven't used "macros" before so hope I can get the hang of it. Better if Cyberlink would add many more hotkey options and ability to save presets. Thanks
Quote If you perform like this, the "cropping" is not "keyframable" <- cool word, isn't it?
But the cropping is just like zooming. You choose a different "viewport" of your clip, you "crop away the unwanted parts". That new viewport is zoomed to the size of the view.
You can perform the same in the preview window, butt if you do it there, it is "keyframable"

I made a little video for you to show, what PlaySound and Warry meant.

Edit: Tony was faster...

Allright! I appreciate you showing that with a video. That helps to understand. In my case, I usually need very specific crops. For example there might be two people and something in the clip I don't want in the video. I might want just one person and also avoid something. When I've finished cropping I often go to keyframe, disable aspect ratio, and stretch it out a bit to make it take up more of the frame so it's not such a skinny picture. Would you say this way you show can be as precise as cropping? Anyway, good to see this way of doing it. Thanks
Quote Hi Francois -

I posted this screen capture recently for another user who had a similar problem. Maybe it'll help you. It's what Warry & Playsound were suggesting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znHwLysua3k

As you've found, copying & pasting keyframe attributes doesn't work for Crop & Zoom.

In your case, you'd only paste the keyframe attributes to the clips that need to be cropped in the same way.

Cheers - Tony

That's good to know anyhow. Thanks
Quote Did you try this:

  • crop the first clip as described (your way or PlaySound's way, whichever that suits you best)

  • copy the keyframe attributes of that clip

  • past the keyframe attributes for each of the clips (1/3 I understand) that should have the same cropping.

I cropped the long way. Then I copied the keyframe attributes then I went to another clip and pasted it. It resized the clip but didn't crop it. I'm new to keyframe use in general. Am I missing a step. Thanks

Quote I've got a multicam timeline and have to crop every time I change clips. About 1/3 of the crops are similar but I don't find any place for making a crop preset. The other crops vary. These are the clicks I have to make for every clip.
1.tools
2.power tools
3.crop and zoom check box
4.crop/zoom button
5.freeform
6.click blue dot center crop area before any adjustments possible
7.start adjusting crop size
8.ok

So I'm interested to see if I can speed up this tedious process. Thanks

try it
Select the video, Direct action on the image in the Preview screen
Keyframe button, Clip Attributes, for more resources.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you mean by "more resources"? I haven't figured out how to crop in this area.

Quote You cannot set other programs than the cyberlink products as external programs.
If you edit the audio, either WaveEditor or AudioDirector starts. I see no way to make Reaper work.
Unfortunately, you will have to mix your audio outside the video editing process.
I know DaVincy Resolve, Pinnacle Studio and HitFilm. As far as I know, none of them allows to set Reaper as an audio editor.

Hatti

Too bad. I think I could do that with Sony Vegas. Unfortunately their multicam function had problems. Maybe the 2nd part of the question should be a separate topic. I found it impossible to copy an audio track in the timeline. Thanks for the reply.
Can I use Reaper where it says "edit audio"? It defaults to Wave Editer. I prefer to use Reaper as my external audio editer. Also I tried selecting the audio track (it's ungrouped from the video track) and pressed control-C. Instead it only captures the original mp4 file and not even the shortened one in the timeline. I had trimmed a bit off in the timeline. Is there a better way to accomplish this? Thanks
After I edited and repasted back into pd16 mine was a bit longer and out of sync.

Quote Hello AdrieH,

Welcome to the AudioDirector forum smile

Your issue is concerning, & has been raised previously in the forums.

I've been attempting to replicate it here, but without luck. It appears that you're editing the audio part of a recorded video. Is that correct? Or was it a separate audio bed?

Could you please post all the relevant MediaInfo reports for your video clip(s), seaparate audio track (if applicable) & the WAV file returned from ADR after editing?

Hi PIX,

this is the medianfo from one of the original clips where it happens:

And this one is from the generated WAV-file:

I see now that the original AAC-audio stream also is shorter than the video file. Does that imply it's not a ADR problem?
Still, it's a strange thing that with some clips it's no problem, and with some other clips it is. Hope this helps a bit.

Quote Yes, sorry, but you got it right:
The shown tracks cannot be removed and changed in their position. No.

Hatti

Thanks for your reply. That's regrettable. With other programs I sometimes needed to compare wav forms etc and would move tracks where I wanted without a second thought.
Quote Move that audio on the music track upward to track 2. You then do not need to scroll down to see the music track for that piece of audio.

If you have, for example, many clips it's a risky thing to do it that way.
