It would help if you tell us which version of Color Director you have. Also what Video Editor are you using (the latest version of PowerDirector allows you to use LUT).

Also I assume you looked at all the videos covering Color Director in the Cyberlink Learning center? Look also at the Webinars that are listed here.
Quote So I’m having MKV playback issues in PDVD17 so I download the trial for PDVD18 and the option is disabled. ??? Why???

cry

It sounds like there may be issues with the files AND there may be a limitation in the trial software.

Can you use the free VLC software to play the mkv files?

What kind of issues are you getting? Do you have the issue on all mkv files or just some?
You have a lot of errors including the dreded BEX64 error. Perhaps this is the cause

Windows 10 Home Insider Preview 64-bit (10.0, Build 18252) (18252.rs_prerelease.180928-1410).
Revo Uninstaller (Pro) has a free trial. You may want to try it or ask support if they think that it would be beneficial. Normal ininstallewrs may not pick up the .inp files. I've got a hunch that the file was corrupted. It MAY be a files that shows you have a legal copy of the program or one associated with the program or video plyback.

Did you search for it on your computer and click on it? Search the Internet for INP files and how to fix.

Here is a site that discusses the inp files; there are a lot more.
Quote Hi,

I have changed to a laptop with Windows 10. I got help from Cyberlink to download PD11 to the laptop.
I understand that there could be compatibility issues, but had to find out.

This is what happens.
I can play clips from recordings made on the Canon M100 via media player and it looks good. If I import the clip into PD and l play it from the file in the media room/library (pardon me if I am not getting the descriptions right), it looks good too. But when I drag it to the timeline, click on that and play from there, quality is poor with a jerky playback. Is there a setting, or is this Windows 10 compatibility.

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050

Thanks
Ronnie.

Read up on "Shadow Files" in PowerDirector. See if that option is turned ON; if so, the program/computer is making low quality files that are editable on your computer. You have to wait until the shadow files have been completed. There are little markers to show the progress.

Your computer MAY be able to edit high definition files without the shadow files. Turn that option off and see.
I hope you didn't install and uninstall the program multiple times -- there is a limit.

When you reinstalled the program, did you use something like REVO Uninstaller (PRO) to get rid of all traces of the previous install? You may want to try that or somethinng like that to get rid of everything including the inp files if they are assocated with PDVD. If you select to use REVO, there is a free trial of the PRO. Use the MODERATE Mode only.

Reinstall the program making sure your antivirus is off.

Just for information, did you buy the download directly from Cyberlink or a disc from Cyberlink or a disc or download from a third party?
Quote Just trying to do a simple transfer to a DVD but it will not work. I get everything right all the way to where it shows the option to burn but that's it. I click onto burn to 2d and nothing happens. I do not get any kind of error message or anything. It just will not accept the transfer. This is a new download. I have never even used it before.

Transfer = Copy ?
or
Transfer = Encode (Render) to DVD?

Please post the Windows dxdiag.exe on your computer. There is no personal information other than what you call your computer.

Did you follow these types of video? It is for an earlier version but should give you some idea of the basics and the terminology.

If not, what step by step process did you use?
Quote I've seen a few posts of various PD versions but just wondered if anyone knew of a fix for PD15, or why all of a sudden it's started crashing randomly on me.
have run dxdiag but it's all showing as ok. PDR.exe currently showing as using about 1GB RAM (not sure if this is normal or not?!?!)
PD version is 15.0.3929.0, version type: Ultra

Please post the Windows dxdiag.exe result from your computer. Near the end of that is a list of errors that may tell us about the problem, There is no personal information except for the name of your computer,
Quote I received this update in early October but have not suffered the problems that caused Microsoft to withdraw it.

Are you sure? What happens if you rollback W10?
1t is an awful lot ! Are yiu sure that is what being captured? It took only 20 minutes to capture that? What format are you capturing?

1t should be about 500 hours of standard definition video. (https://www.quora.com/How-many-hours-of-video-can-I-fit-into-a-1-terabyte-HDD)

If the amount cqaptured is a lot less than 1t, then. Since that version of PD7 came with a piece of hardware, it is an OEM (teaser) version. VideoGrabber may have modified or asked
to have that version modified so it would not capture more than it is captuing now (time and/or space). There is no way to tell and no way to upgraqde or update it.

Why don't you download a trial version of PowerDirector (latest version) to see if it will capture more that what your version does now. please come back and let us know. If it doesn't please post the dxdiag.exe evalution of your computer so we can see if there is something that we can spot.
Quote When I select full screen or custom screen to capture, the dotted lines show in the video. Is there anyway to make those dotted lines not show? Or is there a way I can make them black full lines?

Thanks

Which screen recorder version do you have -- 2, 3 or earlier? Are you using standalone or as part of Power Director? I just tried it as part of Power Director and it captured only the selected area (Version 2)..
Please change the Title if you want to indicate that you upgraded from 16 to 17. It now reads that you went from 17 to 16.

I just checked and all the NewBlue effects (82 of them) are still there and are avaiable without watermarks. Which ones are giving you the problem?

How did you upgrade? Did you upgrade to the same level and bitrate? Did you remove 16 before you installed 17. Did you have your antivirus active> Did you use any registry cleaner? Tell us more that you think we should know.
Quote Which of these cards would be faster at hardware rendering in Powerdirector 16, Vega 64 or a 1080?

Thanks

Wasn't that addressed in your Sept 16 post? You might want to re-read the responses there. Also provide some detail about what/why you need faster hardware.
Quote Hi there has been no windows updates, and power 12 iis fully upto date, I've opened a ticket but I can;t understand why it worked fine one day and stopped the next.

Something changed - do you have an antivirus active. An update there might have caused the issue. The same thing there if you use a system cleaner like a Registry cleaner ot file cleaner. If you have it activated and you have a Windows restore function and do not have any other way of getting it back, look to use Windows Restore (carefully).
Perhaps it is time to update. The latest version is 10. It has layers.

I don't have PhotoDirector 8 on my computer but check the Cyberlink KB for PhotoDirector 8. There are some Q&A there that indicate that layers are available. If you have an OEM, perhaps that feature has been eliminated. I'm not sure if layers is included in all levels of the commercial product. I know there was an "Essentials" level but I don't know what others were available.
Quote HOW DO I SAVE MY EDITED CLIPS TO A DISK SO THE TV STATION EDITOR CAN EDIT MY CLIPS INTO A TELEVISION COMMERCIAL

1) All caps means you are shouting. Did you mean to do that?
2) Ask the TV station editor what video format they would like on the disc in addition to resolution bit rate, etc. Onl;y he can tell you what the station uses.

Quote Another Newbee here. Just purchased Power director 16 ( yesterday) and I have had constant problems with it crashing, even though my Pc easily meets the minimum requirements. Anyway Cyberlink website suggest to delete software and to reinstall however i cant seem to find out how to do it. Can anyone help!! How do you reinstall the software using their website?

Thank you

Did you save the download? That's always a good action.

If you have the download. Download the free version of REVO Uninstaller and run it in the MODERATE Mode (only). That will get rid of the program. You can then reinstall it from your download. If you don't have the download, you need to contact Cyberlink with all your purchase information.

Remember also to turn off your antivirus when doing the installation.
I agree with what Carl312 said and I suggest that you should also consider thumb drives.

Don't forget to remember to "Pack your Project" also.
Many trial versions from Cyberlink can't be converted to paid for versions. Since you reinstalled a new hard drive, contact Cyberlink sales directly to get a new download.
No screen capture posted.
