Hi,

I have changed to a laptop with Windows 10. I got help from Cyberlink to download PD11 to the laptop.
I understand that there could be compatibility issues, but had to find out.

This is what happens.
I can play clips from recordings made on the Canon M100 via media player and it looks good. If I import the clip into PD and l play it from the file in the media room/library (pardon me if I am not getting the descriptions right), it looks good too. But when I drag it to the timeline, click on that and play from there, quality is poor with a jerky playback. Is there a setting, or is this Windows 10 compatibility.

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050

Thanks
Ronnie.

Read up on "Shadow Files" in PowerDirector. See if that option is turned ON; if so, the program/computer is making low quality files that are editable on your computer. You have to wait until the shadow files have been completed. There are little markers to show the progress.

Your computer MAY be able to edit high definition files without the shadow files. Turn that option off and see. .
.

Anything I post unless stated with a reference is my personal opinion.

Thanks. Tried to switch "shadow file" off. But then I lose picture completely and end up with a green screen playback, sound only.

All works fine on my pc with Windows 7

Try this: Go to Preferences/Hardware acceleration and uncheck Enable Hardware decoding. You should be able to see video without shadow files.

Just some preliminary feedback. And thanks for the advice so far.

I downloaded a trial of PD17. The result is very much better. Still not perfect playing from the timeline. Very slight jerkiness.

But am still looking at settings. But at least it seems that the issue with PD11 is most likely Windows10.

My laptop specs, shown above, appear to well exceed PD17 minimum requirements. But, I can't change my laptop. So it is what it is.

But I am still looking at both camera and PD17 settings.

Just to add Win10 has a very nice player called "Movies and TV". Way better than Media player.

Ronnie.
