Sometimes a title doesn't show when playing the preview, but it's there fine when produced. Would I be correct in thinking that's likely a resource issue?
Aside from some titles occasionally not showing in the preview, it seems to preview fine; should I be using "Render Preview" and/or when should it be used?
Lenovo Legion
AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
16gb ram
That to me would point to a video driver issue. Try disabling hardware decoding in preferences so the screen gets refreshed for each change you make. This may help with your other preview issues. Change the preview settings to high if you have not done so yet.
I have never used render preview except when multi track full hd preview of a small area is required in the past. It is absolutely unnecessary to me for my needs.

example i cut each word out and put them in different tracks, is there a better option?? eg put a sfx over the sentence then set the duration to play the words every 0.5 seconds? what is newblue? can i type a sentence there and have it animate the words one by one out?
You don’t have to put each of them on a different track. They can be placed in the same track as in this tutorial: https://youtu.be/JchTnSiChOI.
You posted in the PD19 forum so you should still have the 3rd party NewBlue Titler 1.5 and be able to accomplish all of this. You can figure it out easily with tutorials if needed.

There will not be a Tools menu unless you place a video clip on the timeline from the media library as shown in the above video. You also then have to highlight the video clip that you placed on the timeline in order to see the Tools menu. Let us know if you do any of that yet.

Your original question wasn’t about YT shorts. I am sure that YT changes the algorithm from time to time. See this YT short from PDU mobile. It looks like a 9:16 AR video in a 16:9 frame uploaded from PD mobile. It looks bad: https://youtu.be/ZnUzSkBz_1I. Now look at this one: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/coXYoYL1Ovs. There is no 16:9 frame. Scroll down to see the others. I believe that you need the YT shorts app to upload to YT to achieve this result.
Others that upload the YT shorts hopefully will respond on what they do.

Please hep!
I can not figure out why all of a sudden I am no longer able to prduce in 9:16. I have before and used the same saved custom proifle I had been using.
I says its producing in a width of 1080 and a height of 1920 but when I look at the properties of the file it says the file is a width of 1920 and a height of 1080. See attattached pic of the settings in 365 and the properties of the produced file.
I wouldn’t worry about it as windows properties/detail does not show the 90 degrees rotational flag but it is there as the fish in that picture is oriented correctly.
You can use the Mediainfo online link to determine if that rotational flag is present in the produced video: https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline.

If you trim a clip at the beginning you may remove the I or keyframe in a GOP so it has to be reencoded. It is not necessary to re-encode if trimming is done at the end. Upgrading PD15 to PD365 and you may find svrt is active after trimming an avc mp4 clip. I find that the svrt produced clips work well with windows media players but choke on Sony standalone players on a usb flash drive if any trimming was done on the beginning of a clip.
Others may have different opinions and do the smart rendering by other methods.

There is an actual way to remove 1/10 frame from either end of the audio instead of sliding to get a half frame accuracy. Both the PDM and optodata show this.
As stated before, unlink the video and audio, set the expanded audio scale 10x in Preferences, expand the timeline ruler to maximum and each tick mark on the timeline ruler is 1/10 frame. Highlight the audio. Use trim on either end of the clip.Place the cursor on the left end of the audio and move it right until it becomes a double headed arrow. Now Click and Drag one tick mark to the right and release the mouse button. You will see only 1/10 frame of audio removed.
Move the scroll bar all the way to the right and see the audio is flush with the video end. You can now do the same using trim on the right end of the audio clip to remove 1/10, 2/10, 3/10 frame, etc. Sliding is optional.

|
You need to expand the timeline ruler down to max frame level and then unlink the video and audio. higlight the portion of the audio and not the video so that you can remove only the audio portion that you don't want at either end.

There's excess media before and after frames that I need to delete but can't seem to find out how.
there's half a frame too long of audio for example.
Try this: Go to Preferences/Editing and check the box for Enlarge timeline track for audio track. You may have to unlink the video and audio to remove down tp 1/10 frame accuracy the audio you don’t want heard.

Please read this sticky: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/85748.page and supply a full screenshot of the Edit page with the crop/zoom/pan window with that informational popup message. I have PD365 and have never seen that message. Could you also post the version number by clicking the icon on the top left of the page.
Look at that informational popup message. There may be a checkbox that reads Don’t show again.

Can you please xplain where this time window is in which I can type the exact time? Thank you.
Below the Preview window on the top right is a set of controls. That time window is right of the Movie button and left of the Fit dropdown arrow.

Hi Tomasc, No trolling here, been a quiet member since 2011. Updated and the problem was fixed.
This is interesting as I replied to Cyberlink Support today that the PDM posted the update and hotfix since they did not inform me about it. Apparently our PDM is named James and the particular support person did not know about the hotfix and questioned me about it as follow:

Muzza - I am using the previous version of the PD365 using the link supplied by the PDM and know that many users appreciate his help in this matter in getting PD365 to work again without crashing. Looks like Cyberlink support need to catch up on this one.

English:
The problem has been reported on GoPro clips years ago but may not have been fixed Here is what to do. Rotate the clips. In Preferences/Hardware Acceleration uncheck the box for Hardware decoding… and click OK. In the Produce page don’t use SVRT in the box Fast Video Rendering Technology. Hardware encoder is okay. Cpu encoding is okay too. If this fix the problem then let us know. You then need to report the problem to Cyberlink support so that they may try to fix the problem.
Italiano:

Try this: Don’t use the PiP Flip function. Instead use the PiP Rotation 180 Degrees and click OK. Another way is to highlight the clip and then click and drag the center blue circle to rotate to the bottom.
See this link for more information: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/82926.page.
Italiano:

The Slide transition in PD14 default is Up and duration of say 2 seconds. Try that one instead.

II assume therefore that the only way to remove an installed Express Project template is by navigating to its installed folder and deleting that folder in its entirety. Unless I'm missing a more obvious method. Can anybody confirm that is the one and only method of removal?
Which also brings up another related question. Assume for example that one were to delete the folder named "EpressProject010". Does the program function well with a missing sequential folder (the numbering sequence in my example would then jump from 009 to 011). Just wondering if that would cause any confusion to the electrons inside my CPU.
PDR v20.0.2607.0 Ultimate
Win 11
It is one way of doing it. The sequential number missing should cause no problem. It will be filled in as the next express project you download and install. Your other express projects are in the *content pack premium?

I have been getting daily notification popups that “A software update is now available. Important! You are missing out on a smoother, faster experience.” Does this mean as Muzza states above that the May 29 update fixes the crashing problem or if he is trolling here??
Haven't heard back from the PowerDirector Moderator or see that a update to fix the crashing problem from Cyberlink support.

I have always been able to download from the website with a browser. Others have reported the same issue you brought up. You may want to contact Cyberlink support and start a ticket on this. If a solution is found that works for you, post back with the information. This may help others too.

Go to the DZ and try to download what you want. Sign out on sign in to check for the id and pw that works. Go to Preferences/DirectorZone and fill in the exact id and pw that works.
