Hi Maria,
The DXDiag.txt files shows that your computer is within the specs for PD, but it does not leave too much capacity for the more advanced video edit changes. So as soon as you start changing the things you wrote about, PD and your PC struggle to get things right. I see that the screen resolution although within the PD specs, is a bit low, same is true for the CPU. The 1Tb harddisk has only 37.2 Gb space left. Depending on how you have configured the PC, it may struggle to find space to work within. And because it is a good old (real) harddisk, files may be fragmented which may contribute to the slowness.

My suggestions:
1) try with a small portion of your video (to save time), to do the hing you need to do, and then produce this clip and see whether the video and sound are correct. It may very be (as the moderator already noticed) that your PC is too slow to keep up with all the changes and display them correctly in the preview screen. But still makes a good production.
2) you can set the preview screen quality to as low as possible. that will help a bit to see what your editing has done.
3) you can defragment your harddisk and also run the windows cleaner to make some space and speed. Also look at what files can be dropped or deleted (or copied to another disk)
The changes will give you a bit more space, but will still waste your time.

but all in all, if you indeed need to make several videos this week (?), it would be better to look for a newer PC, that has a faster CPU, a faster disk (SSD, not HD) with a bit more space to work in, and maybe also a screen with higher resolution.
Hi,
I am not sure what it is you are asking. You have a multi video track. Does that mean that you have a number of clips that are in the timeline and in more than one track?
You say you have all cut it. What does that mean that you have made changes to (all?) those tracks and that only one is showing (playing). Is that in the preview screen?
Maybe it helps if you make a screenshot of how your timeline looks like? And post it here?
Some hints:

  • alltracks in the timeline should be visible in the preview screen, however 9in normal setting mode) PD will display the clip in the highest track number ABOVE the clips in other tracks. E.g. if the is a clip in track 2 that fits completely in your screen that whatever clip or image you have in track 1 at the same place will NOT show in the preview screen nor in the final result. To "fix" this you will either make the clip in trak 2 smaller so that it reveals a bit of track1, or you can also something about the opacity of track 2 clip so that it shows track 1 too.

  • It is also possible to make a mask on track 2 so that some of it will be masked off so that track 1 will become visible .

  • Also have a look at the left side of the tracks. It may be that the "eye" in a track has a line throught it which means, do not show this track (or in case of audio: do not sound this track)

As said, a screen shot of your timeline may help give better solutions and hints...
Well, I have installed the latest version of PD 21 (0.2123.0) and checked out some things in version 20 that I have complained about.
I am happy to see that the loading of the features in the various rooms is much faster: in 20 is took (my system) about 1:35 in version 21 the first time opening it takes about 30 seconds, when starting the program, a second time it takes about 10 seconds. It seems that the house-keeping of the features in the rooms has become better:
Switching between the rooms was in previous versions a bit of a struggle for the program. It has improved but is not perfect yet, because my screen is still sometimes stalling and jumping strangely. I have given a screenrecording about this to CL some time ago. But: much better already!
The inventory list of the title room, does no longer lists the entries twice. In the list (this also applies to the other rooms) there has been some sub-categorization, which may help finding items faster. The order of the inventory looks still a bit random.
I have seen some reports of missing downloads and favorites, but I did not see anything wrong with that. During the update there is the question whether you want to “forget” about previous settings. I said no. Maybe that has done the trick?
Not all preferences and setting are copied from the last version. E.g.: the export folder was overruled and settings like PAL are also set back to (what apparently is the default) USA NTSC.... Change the export folder requires a program restart to become in effect... A small thing that can be fixed easily I would recon...
A quick test with a version 20 project, which is the result of a multi-cam production, much color adjustments (and LUTs), zooming and panning. The 4:30 video clip took version 20 about 15:50 to produce. Version 21 took about 11:54. (Same system, drivers, disks, and etc.) with Windows graphic settings set to high performance). If I set Windows to decide which Graphics processing to use, the production is about 30 secs slower. The results (the production is a 1920:1080, 32000kbps, 25 frames clip) compare, and the 20-file size was about 873.7Mb, the 21-version size is about 874.0 Mb. I wonder whether this considerable faster production is also what the other forum members see?
After the update the AI styles plugin was 'empty'. I had to reinstall the styles (uninstall them in Windows and install them using the CAM). After that they worked again. It would be good that CL either fixes this, or at least makes a note for its users about this?
I was able to insert a (new) FX track above track 2, hence below track 1 (I don’t have the reverse order so track 1 is on top in my timeline).
I don’t see the clip “jumping” when a pan and zoom is applied (as was reported). What I do see is, that there is some jumping when my preview is on higher quality.
In the version I use, I don’t notice any audio glitch.
All in all, it was a good decision to wait a while before upgrading to 21. I think that version 21 shows some good improvements under the hood. We can only repeat previous remarks and suggestions: improve on the program internals to make it more flawless and improve on the testing and maybe even engage end-users (well, not like it is done now, a full release and wait for the comments and complaints to stream in).
I think that empty My Favotires after an update is something one can expect since the features may have changed (dropped), but I would still find it more elegant that updates and upgrades leave the My Favorites alone. I suggest you report this as an error, and if the reply is that it is standard behavior, then I would file for a suggestion.

The items in the document \ cyberlink folders from previous versions, IS standard behavior. Cyberlink maintains the various user created masks, titles, particles etc in folder that are linked to the version of PD in which they were created. So far we have seen that most of the user creations worked in newer versions of PD. Maybe also because PD "knows" the version at time of creation and handles the creations accordingly. So, I would suggest NOT to change these folders and/or move any items to other folders nor to the 21 folder.
What I do, just to be sure that I have my created stuff after an update, I make a backup. There were times that a backup was very necessary.....
Cyberlink has chosen NOT to look at what is happening and written in this forum.
The best approach is to always send an issue report or service request to (technical) support.
Cyberlink has chosen NOT to look at what is happening and written in this forum. Best is to always send an issue report or service request to (technical) support. Sometimes they are very responsive and helpful Sometimes not. I guess that at some point in time, when they get many request and report they might do something…..
I understand your ordeal. From time-to-time, I have similar projects, with about 35 chapters. I edit each of those chapters separately in separate projects. Once I have these projects, I use the batch option to produce those projects both in DVD format and in Blu-ray format. It saves time to produce them all at the same time. Also, if there is something wrong, I only need to reproduce a small portion.
Note: I only find SETTING the batch option properly something that CL did not properly look at (either). It starts each time with USA NTSC, whereas I need PAL, it forgets about the previous settings all together. You can best add projects after you have set the first project to the right format, any projects added will adhere to the formats of the first, which is nice again for my purpose.
I also use a separate program to author the DVD and Blu-ray disks. Which also goes astray sometimes. Making disks does appear to be a trivial thing. But software link Nero and Premiere, Shampoo and Magix, to name a few seem to have less of a problem to my experience.
Using separate video files, makes it easier to get to a logical chapter setup, and there is usually the playlist option to play everything in one go.
Making a support ticket, as you did, is the best thing to do. Although don’t hold your breath. I see more and more users turning around looking for another video editor (or disk author) software. In this forum too, users have written over and over that Cyberlink needs to focus on flawless functioning first, before adding all sorts of features that both make the software slow and unhandy to use.
The balance between features and frustration goes more and more to the latter.
Let us know how it goes and if and when CL responds!
Scanning internet indicates that there may be an access problem to folders, or speed etc. There are some hints given, also in this forum. Might be a good idea to have a look at what is hinted.
Good shows and failures may have to do with circumstances during the creation, like using other programs in parallel, (that may have impact on the available memory, the speed of writing etc.
I understand that you have already tried to write an ISO-file first. That (indeed) excludes the possibility of DVD drive errors and DVD disk errors…
Did you already try to produce video files as an intermediate step, before making the DVD? These files can best be of the format close to DVD, e.g. MPEG2, in the selection list: DVD HW 720x576/50i (8Mbps) for PAL, or MPEG-2 720x576/24p (8Mbps) for NTSC.
These intermediate files can then be used as input for creating the DVD. The advantage of this approach is, that 1) there is one step less for PD to worry about, and 2) you can see from the size of the produced files, how full the DVD will be and whether it is close to the limit, which can be a factor too. You can also try another DVD creation program to create the end product, or you can even think about using a modern medium, like disk, USB-stick, etc.
Because I was traveling I have not yet been able to upgrade my 365 to version 21.
In this forum I see that a number of issues are mentioned. Obviously, things that went okay are not put in front of the members.
Given the problems with sound (looks like serious?), profiles, projects, templates and Boris gone (can they be found or restored?), some crashes and poor sky-replacement performances....
how is the performance (I am also thinking about the scanning of templates, titles etc at program start)?
what might be your expert advise: should I upgrade or best wait until there is a newer version?
thanks!
I see that you use the essentials/ free version of PD. This version does have limitations compared to the full version. Bare that in mind when trying the following:
What you get may also be caused by the media player you use…
The steps I would take are:
Open a new project and define / set the format to 16:9
Open you video clip(s) to put them in the media-room and put them on the timeline.
When you get a message like “aspect ratio conflict” then say no, you don’t want to change. (I don’t expect you get this message since the aspect ratio for 1280x720 is still 16:9)
Now click on the clip in the timeline and in the tools-menu click on crop/zoom/pan
In the window that opens, move the white box to make it smaller. In the right-hand top corner, you can see what the result of that “cropping” does.
Now click on ok and in the preview screen you should now the image of the clip you want to get. (in the image included in your message, I see that there is some distortion of the ratio. I guess that is not what you want. (and don’t get if the follow the above steps).
Repeat the above for each clip in the timeline.
No produce the clip(s) to an output format, but when select one, make sure that the ratio is still 16:9
Let us know whether that will do the trick (and whether this can be done with your version at all).

There are many good tutorials out there. Please look at: https://www.cyberlink.com/learning/powerdirector-video-editing-software/445/how-to-use-the-zoom-and-crop-tools
but there are others too like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-krFuzyOcik&ab_channel=PowerDirectorEssentialsfromtheSharperTurtle
etc. etc.
Emojis in subtitles are commonly not supported, also not in PD
I don't see the problem. Once you have installed the application manager on your new computer and have given user name and now, you simply can install 365 on the new machine. And take the video work from there. You even don't have to uninstall 365 on the old computer as long as you don't use the software at the same time. (I would uninstall it and any others before you sell the old machine though).
But before you do that, look at the various locations in documents on the old to see whether there is stuff you do want to move to your new computer, like project files and customized titles etc.
Suche sie YouTube, multicam Powerdirector Deutsch, I have sehe das es einigen giebt, and perhaps some in English that have subtitles, or with pictures that are also clear enough.
I would certainly try the multicam plugin and add the clips of the 3 camera's in there. You can do an automatic sync on audio (maybe the motor sound is sufficient, otherwise say something clear at the beginnen of the recording so the audio can beused, or it can use timecode information (should your camera support that, and also markers set by you on the clips, maybe the last was what you were usedto use in VPX. When it comes to multicam (specially when you record music as I do) PD does a great job.

-------------------------
Thanks Jeff, for taking the efforts to explain and share!
Much appreciated!

1:24 means 1 second and 24 frames in the second second.

if you have the project set to 50 frames per second, then 1:24 means: 1 second and 24/50 is about 0,5 second = 1,5 second
if you have set the project to 25 frames per second: 1:24 means: 1 24/25 second is about 2 seconds.

1.80 seconds (I understand you are asking for) means 1: 40 frames = 1 40/50 (project is 50 frames), or 1 : 20 frames (project set to 25 frames), etc.

-------

You have to experiment a bit with the slide show plugin

In a number of templates, it IS possible to change the image order, the length, the cropping etc. Using templates will give some nice effects.
If you want full control, then you can use the (plain) video editor and set the images in the correct order, do the changes to lengths and use the Pan & zoom to get some movement of the images. That is a lot more work though.
Obviously, I don’t have the answer. The specs say that PD can write BD disks (nothing about RE though). I would certainly try to “burn” the disk to an iso file, and then burn the BD-RE disk with another burning software. That at least rules out that the BD-RE disk does not work.
And… inform CL technical support about this. They will ask a bunch of questions and will suggest that you upgrade the drivers, reinstall the software and maybe even windows.
Let us know how it goes.
There are a number of approaches I can think of, and would certainly give it a try. Starting with:
FIRST: Try to copy and paste the keyframes. (I must say that for me this does not always work as expected. E.g. not all settings are copied perfectly all the time.)
SECOND: To pick out one clip to use as a reference to all. This can be a small clip or a larger clip if that works better for referencing. Then set the brightness (and other settings). And then depending on how many clips you have maybe even produce this reference clip so that it is easier to handle in the following step(s). Then do color match with the reference clip as … reference to set the same on the others.
THIRD: try out LUTS to see whether you can get the brightness the way you want it and see whether applying the LUT to all other clips will give the desired results. Maybe there is a LUT available, otherwise it may be possible to look for and import a (free) LUT that has the right settings for you.
Depending on the amount and size, you can do that in one go, or in a number of goes. I would also consider producing all clips (using a high-quality format, at last of the same quality as the source) so that the brightness and other settings are done when you (maybe?) use the multicam?
ColorDirector has some feature too.....

The setting would be (about) one click, the handling is a bit more than one click, but.... 50Gb.... will require some work.
What I have seen in the past is, that audio-stuff from the windows store (which windows do you use?) did interfere with the drivers, so I had to go back to original drivers... This was particularly true for Realtek. However, this worked system wide, not only PD.
I currently dont have that kind of behavior on my system with PD. Plugged earphones, bluetooth headphones, change of audio driver it all works for me. Do you have more details for us to work with?
I guess that you have notified technical support about this?

In addition, we can only add: CL needs to improve the core features of the program vs constantly adding all the rimram that nobody uses....
Quote Getting more and more frustrated. I've produced several videos to hard drive before using the same formats, this time it won't produce and/or it keeps crashing. I've been at it for more than 7 hours.

Happy to look at your problem, So in addition: good to understand what kind of input file(s) you use, what kind of editing you have done, and what kind of effects (if any) you have applied. Also good to see, what formats you have outputted, the length of the video, the version number of your software and the DXDiag file to see whether drivers are up to date etc. etc.
