Getting more and more frustrated. I've produced several videos to hard drive before using the same formats, this time it won't produce and/or it keeps crashing. I've been at it for more than 7 hours.
Happy to look at your problem, So in addition: good to understand what kind of input file(s) you use, what kind of editing you have done, and what kind of effects (if any) you have applied. Also good to see, what formats you have outputted, the length of the video, the version number of your software and the DXDiag file to see whether drivers are up to date etc. etc.

This is a very impressive and interesting piece of work Jeff!
Would it be possible for the laymen amongst us in this forum (and maybe in the Cyberlink Development department) to draw some simple overall conclusions and recommendations in addition to “Nvidia NVENC GPU encoding is the best route”? Is that always the case, or can you recommend which route to take, within specific parameters for the best results, etc. And maybe also recommendations for CL (should they read this).
I see that you don’t say too much about the speed of the various options. I think I understand why. But is it a factor at all?
I am also interested to learn what it is you (overall) have to say about the SVRT encoding. I understand that if it is at all applicable, it sometimes delivers a shorter video, but also sometimes good quality?
Good work, much appreciated!
Thanks again!

A brief test shows that my system behaves as expected. Both download from PD and the CAM work, although the CAM download is marked by PD as downloaded after a restart.
Please check the folder c:\users\public\Cyberlink\Downloaded Audio.
That folder should contain folders that each contain a downloaded audio file. I guess that PD looks in these folders in combination with some index file.
Try to download music and from the time stamp of the folder you can see whether it is there. Maybe it helps to rename the folder to something so that CAM/PD do not see it, and try to download something (again) from both PD and CAM. And see how things behave. If the works, then you can forget the folder that is set aside.
And as a last resort (which worked for me some months ago) is reinstalling both CAM and PD.
I assume that you have the latest versions?

There does not seem to be a way to determine whether one has used media in the collage or not. Maybe it comes to the small number of clips/images you can use in a collage, or maybe to importing sets of clips per time in a well-organized manner. It is a serious omission, and adding a used in collage indicator, like we have a used in the timeline indicator, would improve the user friendliness of PD.
I suggest you put forward a suggestion to CL (they claim not to read anything on the forum) using the rate us & provide suggestions.

I'll take some screenshots when I get time. The PIP Designer is where scale seems to be a decimal value, no sign of pixel dimensions that I could find.
you are right. But would the decimals help you be more precise than by eye?

I wish that if I had an asset 500px wide and the video is 2560px wide, that it was easier to get it in the timeline at 500px wide, instead of it first appearing stretched to 2560px stretched then resizing it by eye!
First of all, I fail to understand that your picture are rescaled when added o the timeline. Can you show a screenshot of that?
Then, If you need to be precise, why not using the PIP designer that has allows you to scale by the pixel!

Within PD I would try the scharpening tool. Usually it has to be use with care. Danger to overdo it. Maybe it helps you for this purpose. If you look for video upscale tools, you will find a bunch that may be of help. Most will cost some are free.
Maybe other PD users have better ideas

- It has been a while since I worked with version 16, but as far as I know PD is mostly preserving the original format of media when putting them into the timeline. However, there will be a warning/message/question when adding the first clip when it has a different format than the project settings. I have not seen such message for still images though. I suggest you check your project settings to see whether can adjust those, and there is always to option to manually “downsize” the still images to their original format.
- It should not be too much of a problem to make a fade in and out. You can open the PIP designer and do the fades in there, and you can also change to opacity line in a selected image in the timeline, using the CTRL-key. With the Pan & Zoom option that is available for still images, you can make about any movement you want. Once you get the hang of the tool, you should be able to accomplish what it is you want. By copying the keyframes you can probably also paste these setting to other images if you would want that…. (Again, I don’t recall whether that option is available in 16, otherwise consider upgrading).
- When you enlarge a (still) image in the timeline, you essentially fill the screen with a smaller portion of the image. Which therefore is always displayed with a smaller number of pixels, this with less details and less quality. Thus the “soft look” you may see is actually not PD making the picture soft, but the fact that fewer details are available. I would guess that this also (specially) the case with clips of old games, which may have a lower format to start with and thus already have fewer details? What you can try to do is, enlarging/scaling the still image(s) with photoshop(-like) software (that generates more pixels as you mention) before adding them to the project. Or you can look for a method to display them as large as they originally are (maybe within a frame of an old computer?) or even “improve” the image by making them (even) smaller on screen. You specifically ask whether PD can do this, well, not with a function, but what you can try is putting the images on the timeline and produce them with a (very) high output format (e.g. 4K), and then using this output as input for your project. I doubt whether that will give you better results than scaling the image up front, but it cannot do any harm experimenting.
Have fun!

I did a few tests. With my PD 20.8.3211 and CD 10.3.2701 (suggest that you update both programs), and the color match works fine in my system. In CD I load/point to the source file, and after that it works fine in CD and also back in PD.
I have Open CL hardware encoding switched off and hardware decoding switched on in both, if that makes any difference. We can of course compare all our settings, but then again there may be system variables involved as well.
Using the color match in PD itself is a good idea.
I think it is also a good idea to inform CL technical support about this.

The usage of favorites and custom tags.
My take would be (and that is how I use them) that custom tags can be added if the tags as supplied by CL are not sufficient OR
if there are a series of projects that use a set or range of effects I want to access fast. Tags likes: I always use these, or this is the range I am using, don’t mix them with other.
I use the favorites when I have selected a number of effects I may be using in the current or the current few projects. I want to be able to select and change to compare. It is easy to select them (click the heart) and It is easier if the potential effects (titles, particles etc.) are packed together, rather than scattered all over the place.
So, I use favorites more than the tags. But the usage is very personal, and I think that is precisely why they are available.

Under the preview window
https://help.cyberlink.com/stat/help/powerdirector/20/win/enu/03_05_00_preview_window.html?q=window
you can set the method (frame, second, minute, scene, subtitle, chapter, segment)
https://help.cyberlink.com/stat/help/powerdirector/20/win/enu/03_05_04_preview_controls.html?q=seek
the , and . keys will bring you one frame (second, minute, scene etc. backward and forward.

No there is not. But if it is your intention to mark a place in the timeline (precisely), whilst working in other places in the timeline, I might help to place a (timeline) marker at the scrubber/cursor position. Multiple markers are possible if need be with their own colors. PD will also see these markers as a "clicking" point, so when you move something in the timeline you can click it to a marker.
Hope that this helps.
Have fun,
Warry

Would it not be possible to put the image after track1 video also on track 1, then at least you have the transition applied to the video and image. What to do with the text in track 3 is hard to say without any examples? Maybe you can elaborate?

It happens that Youtube changes its communications (API) software. Not sure what the problem is now, but I have better (always good) results, when I produce my video to hard disk and then use Youtube Studio to upload the video. It give a bit more options to set the parameters right.
In the meanwhile submit a service request to CL support, so that they know that something may not be working.

The latest upgrades: which versions are you using?
Just a laptop that I use. I have the same feeling when I am blocked from a folder I want to look into. I am assuming that you use a Windows laptop? Windows protects a number of folders that cannot be accessed by (even) uses with administrators’ rights. The video folder you may be using however are likely not from that category. Then there is the defender, in which you can define folders that cannot be accessed (even by you). All I can offer you from a distance is the advise to try the following:
- I am assuming that the filers and folders you mention, can be opened by other applications? Like the file explorer?
- Files and folders are not found. WHEN is that, is that already when you try to import something into the media room, or do you get messages when you produce or what?
- have you tried moving the video files from your project to another folder or even another drive? Did you try to pack the project, move it around and use and run produce like that?
- run a chkdsk c: /f to make sure that your disk is okay (or replace c: with the appropriate drive letter).
- You can also run the SFC and DISM command (you can browse for the correct parameters online).
- Look at whether you have at least 15% of disk space available. Run the disk cleaning if need be
- switch off the defender (manage settings) to see whether the PD behavior is different (don’t forget to switch it on again)
- any other virus software running, that may cause similar problems?
- look at the folders which you are denied access. I would also specifically be looking for the Cyberlink folders in program files. Is something the matter with them? Open the properties and the security tab to see who has access and if you are not one of these, change that.
- you mention 3 Cyberlink programs, the other 365 programs work alright?
- any codex software you have installed? (Turning it of to see what happens)
- share the DXDiag.txt file with us so that we can see whether there is something wrong with the system.
and you have contacted CL support? Maybe they have experience with these matters. I scanned through the FAQ list, but could not find anything relevant. You?
A long list with all obvious steps, which you may have looked at already. Let us know how things go....

Thanks for this Optodata!
On my not so very fast PC it takes about 30 seconds to get from about 450 to the about 550 titles. I have put some contents packs aside (some of them live in program files\cyberlink\templates and then for each content pack a separate folder. When I "restore" 4 packs in this templates folder it takes PD twice as long (near to 2 minutes) to scan them and find all possible titles (a total of 690) and (lets not forget) all the other stuff for the rooms.
I am also curious what you are seeing Moderator and other users? What is about the amount of titles you have and what time does it take your PC to have them all? And ... given the subject of this entry: Are there any duplicates? Please let us know.
My feeling is that CL tries to cope with all the previous versions, where "room-items" were stored in different folders, and alse has to scan the document folders to check whether there are still customized room-items to include.
And then there is this switch from "in PD" and "via Application Manager" to "all in PD", but for that PD has to look at possible updates in the ('likely) application manager folders or yet another DB.
Well, I am guessing and I am sure that CL development knows precisely what is happening behind the scenes. I can understand that CL is trying to keep newer versions a bit downwards compatible, but all in all we can (and they should) conclude that this now takes too long, and either a faster approach or maybe a cleanup utility is in order.

see attached the list is longer so one shot will not be sufficient.
Notice the progress bar at the right of the window
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hmm.
I have this question too.
I did some testing with a number of transitions (20.8.3211). Many transitions, when put at the end of a clip work as expected: they do their bit as if the next clip is black (dark). Some transitions, like a number in Geometric do not work at all, when put at the end without a following clip. They seem to work fine at the beginning as you mention.
I have also tried to trick the program: put a clip behind the clip put a transition to overlap both and then drop the opacity of the 2nd clip to 0. Then again the transition does not show. Also putting a transition to overlap a clip and a second clip that has a zeroe opacity, does not work either.....
Cutting the end of the clip into 2 pieces and put a transition over it works, but gives unexpected results to say the least.
And for a number of the transitions I see that when the second clip opacity is almost 0 for the duration of the transition in the second clip the second clip is visible and sometimes even overexposed.
I think that an error report should be made (and I have). Unless I oversee something?

In the given version I notice that ALL entries in the title room explorer list are listed twice.
When I add, or delete or hide a title, the effect is repeated twice too.
I have checked to see whether I have the titles "collected" somewhere twice too (which would not explain for the behavior mentioned above).
I wonder whether I am the only one seeing this error?
(I have reported to customer support)
Besides that the order of the entries in the explorer list is still random it seems. Maybe that will get some attention too from the developers.

Many Shutterstock video’s do not have sound. I suggest that if you are after sound, check the video before downloading by clicking on it so that you can check the sound while previewed on the Shutterstock pages.
Let us know if the previewed video DOES have sound and after download it does NOT have anymore (in the timeline). In that case, I would suggest the “normal” tests like: does the PC play sound at all; not on mute, other videos give sound in the SAME timeline (if not the sound may have been disabled). Etc.

Recently, I received the same kind of reaction on a problem I called out. The support team went as far as proposing to me to reset Windows. It may come from a standard reaction template.
I think is may also have to do with the support person who reacts. I also had very prompt and good reactions from support.
Indeed it is a member to member, user to user forum. I still think that Cyberlink should read what is being written here. Because it will give the company an idea of what their (!) users want and like and what they may have problems with.
They also should realize that potential customers read discussions on the forum too. And the decide to buy or not depending on the sentiments expressed by the members to other members.
Having said that: Wysdom? What is your current status? Is PD working, and if not, is there something to share so that we can help or come with suggestions?
