Troubleshooting: Video and Audio go out of sync when I use the Fix/Enhance feature

Hi!

I'm new here. Just got the PD 365 today. I need some troubleshooting help.

For some reason, my studio light today is dark and the videos are not coming out well.

Until now, I have been using a free old version of PowerDirector (I think it's #12, just imagine!!) and I had not used fix/enhance before, so I tried it for the video I had just recorded to see if I could fix the lighting problem.

I also used the audio denoiser.

When I ran the video again, it stuttered here and there and as a result, the audio was lagging. They were not in sync anymore.

It was the first time I've had this issue and I had this trial PD for years now.

I tried the video in the Camera App where I had recorded it and the video ran well. (WIndows 10). That disabused my suspiricion that something had happened to the app or the labtop.

I recorded again in Zoom and then opened the video on the old trial PD, and it was running well until I used fix/enhanced. That disabused my notion that the Camera App (which I install some weeks ago) and the old PD were incompatible.

Since I had tried to purchase the current version of PD last week and the purchase had some problems and did not go through, I decided to purchase again, hoping that the problem was due to it being a trial and an old version of PD.

After I downloaded the manager and installed all the programs, I opened PD 365.

I imported the video and ran it. It was fine.

I used Fix/Enhance, the video and the audio.

I ran the video again, and it was stuttering and the audio out of sync.

I undid the audio changes, but the video stayed out of sync.

The stuttering is not everywhere, but in certain spots. It seems that the video stutters because in some place the action accelerates a couple of seconds. However, this is enough to unsync the entire audio from that point on.

I have to do several videos this week, so I can not afford to waste time, and I do need to fix the lighting in the videos. Please advise what could have caused the hitch in the video and how to fix it or how to avoid it.

I am a content creator and have used the basic features of PD 12 for years. I just downloaded PD365. I am not a video editor. So please keep it simple!

Thanks,
Maria

Hello,

It really sounds like your computer is struggling and may not meet the requirements for the latest version of PowerDirector. See this forum FAQ for suggestions: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/97580.page#post_box_392520

Please also provide the requested information so users can get an idea of your setup, especially by providing your DXDiag file:

Hi Maria,
The DXDiag.txt files shows that your computer is within the specs for PD, but it does not leave too much capacity for the more advanced video edit changes. So as soon as you start changing the things you wrote about, PD and your PC struggle to get things right. I see that the screen resolution although within the PD specs, is a bit low, same is true for the CPU. The 1Tb harddisk has only 37.2 Gb space left. Depending on how you have configured the PC, it may struggle to find space to work within. And because it is a good old (real) harddisk, files may be fragmented which may contribute to the slowness.

My suggestions:
1) try with a small portion of your video (to save time), to do the hing you need to do, and then produce this clip and see whether the video and sound are correct. It may very be (as the moderator already noticed) that your PC is too slow to keep up with all the changes and display them correctly in the preview screen. But still makes a good production.
2) you can set the preview screen quality to as low as possible. that will help a bit to see what your editing has done.
3) you can defragment your harddisk and also run the windows cleaner to make some space and speed. Also look at what files can be dropped or deleted (or copied to another disk)
The changes will give you a bit more space, but will still waste your time.

but all in all, if you indeed need to make several videos this week (?), it would be better to look for a newer PC, that has a faster CPU, a faster disk (SSD, not HD) with a bit more space to work in, and maybe also a screen with higher resolution.

Thanks!

I'll ask my IT to do as much cleaning as possible. Sorting through files may need to wait, but I have some time later on assigned for Dropbox maintenance and maybe we can do it there.

The bummer is that I purchased a $59 yearly video editor tool but can't use it to full capacity unless I purchase a labtop that costs thousands of dollars! That does not seem cost effective at this time, but let me keep an open mind because sometimes growth requires new investments when we had not planned for them.

I think the information you gave me will help my IT and he may come up with other ideas or understand how to help me free some more space.

Thanks for your time and your prompt response!
Maria
