Robert from Oz seems to regularly post excellent quality videos to YouTube.

Here's a link to some of his videos, and his "save" settings before he uploads.

All in this thread -> http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16758.page
Quote: There is one called H.264 AVC is this similar to your H264 m2ts?

Yes, that's the one. It saves it as a file with the file-extension .m2ts

You'll find various options in the drop-down as to what size you want it, such as the 1080 for example.

Just try it on a a few short videos and see how they look. That's the best way to learn and see what you are happy with either on your PC or on YouTube or Vimeo or whatever. I'm a great fan of YouTube as it gives the viewer five options of quality to view at depending on your Internet connection speed, even if you upload at Hi-Def

Such as this one I'm listening to / watching in a small window as I'm typing this -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eQF2YVWByQ
Quote: When I try to upload a video to facebook via the upload within facebook it says it will take some 4 hours.

What file-size are you attempting to upload? That's why I use the H264 m2ts files, as they provide quality with a smaller file-size

The other thing is that I never load to Facebook, as it's so restrictive, in sometimes forcing people to take up a Facebook account to view it. Ok if you absolutely must "tag" those involved, but I can't see any other reason to use Facebook for video. and also I very rarely see a "good quality" video there. Much better to load to YouTube (or similar) in my humble opinion, and post a link to your video on Facebook, (as I frequently do).

I'm not sure about WMV or AVI as I've never tried it, but why don't you just save a 30 second clip in different formats, and upload those to YouTube and Facebook to see how the final result looks after YouTube and Facebook have applied their compression to the videos. You may be surprised.

Have a look at some of Robert's Hang-gliding videos at http://www.youtube.com/relate2 as he also uses m2ts files for YouTube. Also check some of his previous posts where he explains how "he" does it
Quote: How did you manage the nice smooth panning effect?

. . . and what equipment do you require to do the slow zooming effect as well
. . . and finally what camera did you use . . . thanks.
Quote: I capture to DV using an ADVC-300 which has both video proc (corrects color) and TBC which can be adjusted while capturing ... (but this set up costs)

You're right it costs

But it's got -> some great reviews . . . . or the same link in dollars
Quote: Cyberlink does not welcome advertising for competitor products, but if you Private Message me, I will pass on the details of what I use, if you are interested.

The software / hardware you use to capture your video to your PC isn't a ''competitor'', so there's no harm in posting the information and links here on the forums, as many others have done before.

If you are not happy about posting it in the public domain, I would also appreciate you letting me know the gear you use . . . Thanks :
Quote: What use is there to having multiple tracks on the same time-line?

I used to think exactly the same, as I like to keep things "really" simple, so it made sense for me to put everything on the same track in the logical viewing sequence for when it's produced.

I still do it that way in the main, but I find a 2nd track really handy for doing short cutaways, say 2 - 4 seconds, as I can put them on the second track and drag them to wherever I want, say to hide an unwanted camera movement in a long sequence or just to break it up, so it keeps the interest

I either plan the cutaways from short-takes at the outset or sometimes just copy a short section from the main time-line, and alter the speed or colour or something, just to contrast with the flow at the time. So my 2nd track has quite a few cutaways just placed there ready for positioning once I've done the main track. Those I don't need I just delete before the final "produce"
So . . . trying to be clever I thought I would today install the latest PD9 patch update. Bad mistake . . If it ain't broke, don't fix it . . . how many times have I been told that.

So I fired up the latest updated PD9, did a couple of edits and guess what . . . it froze for the first time in ages, and again, and again, so I un-installed the whole lot, and just reinstalled the original version of PD9 . . . purr-fect

I'm gonna kick myself now and remind myself of "kiss" . . "Keep It Simple Stupid"

Quote: Good Question! Maybe someone smarter than I can answer.

Hmmm . . . Well after looking at http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector/patches_en_US.html I read it that the latest patch does include the previous updates, so anyone wanting the "latest build" only needs to upload the latest patch :
Doesn't the latest patch include the all updates from the previous patches ?

Or do you have to add one-at-a-time to get the latest version ?

As yet I haven't updated anything from the original PD9 after reading all the horror-stories

He ! He ! You shouldn't have put a full-stop after waaamuseum.

The videos don't immediately show up as High-definition when uploaded to YouTube. You may be able to see 240, 360 or 480 versions, buy you have to wait a while before YouTube processes the Hi-def versions.

Even when they have been processed they don't show automatically as Hi-Def, as many YouTube viewers are on slow modems (or dial-up), so the videos generally start at 480 (unless smaller-sized).

You have to select the quality, by clicking on the number which shows up immediately below the bottom-right of the video, and then you can change it to 720 or 1080, if the option is available, and finally click to full-screen
- If you had posted the link to your video in your message here, you would have had a considerable viewer-number increase on your video, just through people reading these forums watching it, and people could have commented more easily by looking at your titling content, and your "tags"
Not topic related, but could I please ask Gerry863 only to use standard-size text when posting, as myself and many others who view these pages from various mobile devices, find the bold text makes it difficult to peruse the postings easily. Thanks.
- Looking at some of the Vixia HF200 videos on YouTube a few minutes ago, I can understand your enthusiasm

Not topic related, but could I ask Bubba (and someone else) only to use standard-size text when posting, as myself and many others view these pages from various mobile devices, and the large text makes it difficult to peruse the postings easily. Thanks.
Simple answer - Don't upload to Facebook via PD9.

Save the video to your drive, THEN go to Facebook to the "correct" location, and upload from your drive.

One heck of a lot easier : : :
The same happened to me when I installed the update patch for PD8. Luckily I had the original install disc on CD, so removed the lot and did a fresh basic install without the patch. It worked much better again.

I'm now using the basic version of PD9, and although I'm aware there are updates I'm not going to install them, especially after reading your message, as I only do simple edits, and can do without what's on the updates.

Maybe remove, and start over again :
