I can be reasonbly sure that any monitor that works well for CAD/CAM software would work well with Video Editing, The important factor for video editing is speed of the computer, just about any graphics card can be used for video editing. Good specs for the video card (speed and Ram) will work well for video editing. If your primary focus is CAD/CAM, build the system around those specs.

Computer specs for Powerdirector 18:

I bet any compter that works for powerdirector 18 would also work well for CAD/CAM.
Sometimes when Powerdirector preview plays the beginning of a audio it will pop. That pop is not in the rendered video. It is just in the preview.
There are some versions of Powerdirector that do support the MXF video format.

https://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/comparison_en_US.html

Scroll down to 'Performance & Formats', Look for "Import .MXF (8bit 4:2:0 AVC/XAVC) NEW"

As far as I know PD18 is the first Powerdirector to import MXF format.
Quote I'm using Powerdirector 18 to make a DVD. I have 2 videos, which I want the viewer to be able to select between on the DVD menu. However, when I import them, it adds an extra menu between the main menu, and the one where the user can select which video to play. I would prefer if the first menu would just give this option immediately. Here is the current Menu Structure:

And I want to edit it to look like this:

I've searched around and can't find anything. How can I edit the menu structure to look like the second image?
Thank you
In Create Disk > Menu Preferences, on the bottom of the left pane, Uncheck include Root menu.
That leaves only the scenes menu.
The "save project As" is the correct one on the file menu.

Save as does not save the entire project.

The reason you get black boxes for your files in the project is because Powerdirector does know where the videos are stored on your computer.

If you used videos from a USB drive, then that drive must be present. That is why you create a temporary working folder on your hard drive and copy all of the files you need in your project to that folder.
4:3 aspect ratio = 1.33
3:4 ratio = 0.75

16:9 ratio = 1.78
9:19 ratio = 0.5625

Other ratios, divide horizontal by Vertical.
one method is to Right click on the image > Set clip Attributes > Set Duration.

In the box that pops up set the duration you want. Click OK.

Another method is the put your mouse pointer on the rear of the image, when you get the double arrows, drag to the length you want.
PowerDirector 17 version of 365 (subscribtion model is not available after Powerdirector 18 was released).

If you have a system backup when Powerdirector 17 was installed, you could restore your computer to when you had PD 17.

You can still find copies of the perpetual version of Powerdirector 17.

Amazon has some. (not cheap). You can search for Powerdirector 17 online.
Quote I have been using Powerdirector for years. I signed up for the Subscription...and Paid in full. I sent in a ticket to request "Where do I go" I have no clue where to take advantage of my subscription. Where can I use the features...where can I download the goodies...Customer support withthis program is always a disaster...so I am reaching out here. Can somebody help please? Thank you
You should get an email for you to download the Cyberlink Application Manager.

Download then run the install. Once the Application Manager is installed you will see all of your downloads.
If your PD 17 is the lifetime license, Remove it, then Re-install. It looks like something happened on install. I suggest turn off your malware scanner before installing.

If you have Powerdirector 365 (subscription model), remove and run the CyberLink Application Manager, to reinstall the software.
Cyberlink features comparison :

Usually if you have previous Powerdirector and content packs, as long as you install 365 before you remove your previous Cyberlink programs. 365 will find and include all of your previous packs.

The subscription verson does automatic updates. You get a notice that there are updates available, it is up to you to open the Application Manager and install the updates.

In the subscription model, all of the content packs are included.
The Trial version has limitations. Check that you have not found one of the limits, H.264 only if the Windows Operation system supports h.264.
First to check, do you have BlueRay disk selected in Create Disc > 2D disk?

Be sure you have also selected the correct size bluray disk on the dropdown.

If you have been burning DVDs, you may forget to change the disk format in Create Disc.
Yes, Microsoft did discontinue Windows Move Maker, but if you use the key words Windows Movie Maker, in the search engine "Google.com", you get several choices of programs that have replaced Windows Movie Maker that does the same job.

That is not the only progam that can capture video tape or 8 mm film without the copyright error.
.
Quote I am trying to save my old videos by creating digital copies. There are numerous times the video will stop and the notice will pop up that it is a copyright issue. I am copying off my old 8mm. Yes, at this point they are probably not the best quality. Is there a way to keep this from popping up?
This is a common problem in PowerDirector, if there is noise in the video, Powerdiredtor detects that as copyright.

If you use other capture software, you can import the captures for editing in Powersirector. You may have to search for capture software.

Microsoft has/had "Windows movie maker" Search without quotes.
In order to produce your final output video, you must have the original source files in the original location.

PowerDirector uses the original file to produce the edited version. The project file (.pds) has the instuction on what to do for the final output video. Project file is simply a text file with instructions. No actual video.

You should keep the orignial source video. It is not replacable.

One other suggestion, optodata talked about external storage for your original videos, you can also keep on external storage a "Packed Project Material" which is the finished project and source materal. Packed projects are portable, you can reedit on anybodys computer that has Powerdirector of the same or later version.
Quote How do I remove the black borders on each side of the portrait photos?
The short answer, you have to add an image or color board to fill in the black area.

Put a Color board or image in 16:9 ratio on track 1, put your Portrait photo on track 2. You will have a full 16:9 image with no black borders.
There is another color picker, it is a small exe on your computer Start the exe, use your mouse to pick the color spot on your computer screen. (Make a note of the values).

The Ultimate Colour picker

You want the portable version. I put the shortcut to the exe on the task bar for easy access.

JL_JL has the best answer.

The question you asked was what is the resolution of DVD Video. DVD Video is Standard Definition (720 x 480 NTSC or 720 X 576 PAL). PAL is the European or World format. NTSC is the North American format.

The Frame rate is also different, 60 fps of NTSC and 50 fps for PAL. fps=Frames Per Second. It is based upon the power frequency of the country.

Quote hi,

can i remove moving objects like cars, or people in movies, using power director.
You can remove some objects, but there are lots of conditions of what you can do.

I suggest you view some of the tutorials. Link at the top of PD 17 forum.
Usually the quality of the snapshop is the same resolution of the video on the timeline. However is some cases, it is the resollution of the computer monitor.

If you have shadow files enabled, it could be the resolution of the shadow file.

If you were to post a screen shot of your condition. we may can tell more.
