Thanks so much for all the tips and spreadsheet/table! It was really helpful but still left me undecided as to what to do regarding previous versions. I need to clean out some stuff on my hard drive as it's starting to get filled up and thought this would be a way to do it.
I guess I didn't think about not being able to open older projects in newer versions. I was planning on keeping the latest Suite Products (v6) just in case I didn't want to continue with the subscription after a year and it becomes disabled. However, I am liking all of the add on packs that are included on a monthly basis so I will decide when my year is up.
Again, thanks for the responses.

Cindy R,
I would recomend that you export your older Cyberlink Downloads to an external hard drive. USB external hard drives are a reasonable cost way of retaining all of your older software.

For Youtube, you can upload whatever you want.
Youtube will always re-render everything uploaded.
If you upload 1080p, you will get a 1080p video on Youtube, but you have no choice of the frame rate or the bit rate of the final video on Youtube.
Anything over about 16 Mbps bit rate is a waste of bandwidth uploading.
You can download a video from your account from youtube and see what Youtube does to your video.
A look with MediaInfo will tell you what the video result really is.

From Barry the Crab "As for a USB dongle, make it a VC-500 or don't bother."
There is another USB Dongle that is as good or better than the Diamond VC500.
It is a Hauppauge USB-Live 2.

If you are trying to upgrade the Trial to a paid version, you can not do that, You must uninstall the trial version and download the paid version from the links you are given in the Email.
Also be sure your malware program is not preventing Powerdirector download and install.

To watch or record digital TV, you must have a good antenna. Either, quality rabbit ears or outside antenna on a pole.
Rabbit ears work OK, if you are in a area close to the transmitter.

The pings may be coming from Windows sound.
You can modify that in Windows.
Control Panel > Sound, on the Sounds tab. Several types of sounds may produce your ping or beep.
Default beep makes a sound for just about every mouse click and key press.

To my knowledge, you create a green screen video by using a green background to photograph or video first.
In Powerdirector you use, chroma key to add you replacement background.
There are several places to purchase a green screen background, search on Google. Lighting is very important, the background must be lighted evenly.
It is possible to use photo editing software to insert a sold green background in an existing photo.

Burning has failed
Error code eE00B0002
Creating directory has failed
It is an internal logical error.
Its not possible to burn a DVD!
Blu Ray burning is OK!
Maybe an answer:

Please turn off caps, that is considered shouting.

Do you mean that you want the video to rotate 90 degress every hour, on a continuious basis?
Just rotatiing a video is easy to do, select clip mode on the preview, then put your mouse pointer at the top of the blue circle and drag the video around.

I have used versions of power director for many years now with very few problems.
I have just upgraded to PD17 and generally always just have .mts files from my HD camcorder. However this time I have added in a .mov file from my iphone.
PD17 is meant to be compatible for .mov files but when i create the DVD (as an MPEG-2) onto a DVD when I pop it in teh DVD player it wont play properly......almost as if the DVD is scratched....it just jumps and pauses on all areas (not just the .mts or .mov files)
Is this because i cant make a DVD with mixed file formats? or am i doing something wrong?
Thanks for help
There could be all kinds of reasons, We would need much greater details.
One thing you might try, is produce the mixed mts and mov project of a single Mpeg 2 file. Play that mixed video with Windows media player or VLC. If you have problems in that video, you will have to do some trouble shooting to find the cause of the problem.
If that video plays OK, then you can use that video to burn your disk.
You should be aware than DVDs are standard definition (720x480/576), converting a High definition video to standard definition video has its own set of problems.
If you are burning a BluRay disk or a AVCHD disk, you can keep the High definition video.

Hi again.
PD17 now installed thank you.
When speaking of my older stuf I meant all of the additional customised tools like custom titles, downloaded effects, etc, etc. My old version of pwer director, compatible with Windows 7, is not odownloaded and on my PC any more as I am using a new PC with windows 10 installed. So I take it there is no way to retrieve them under these circumstances
If you have a data backup of your old computer, you may be able to copy those custom files to your new computer. In which case the new powerdirector could use them, if you restore or copy the effects, etc, etc to the original locations.

Greetings,
I am about to upgrade to Studio 365 from Studion 16 Ultimate.
How shallI perform an installation keeping all my custom and downloaded stuff?
Does it exist any detailed upgrade installation guide?
The previous version will be uninstalled, customization migrated, etc?
Is the newest version of CL software backward compatible with the previous (16) version?
MJany thanks in advance for any elucidation on the above.
Regards
PS
On how many computers can I install licenced Director Studio 365?
If you purchase a FULL version and not an upgrade version, you can have both Powerdirectors installed on your computer at the same time.
Live versions of Powerdirector Suite will replace the last Live version on your computer. You can only have one subscribed version.
The license for Cyberlink products state one computer per license. Unless you purchase multiple licenses.
Later versions of Powerdirector can open earlier Project files. You should Pack Project Materials on the older version in order to have all of the parts of the project in one place (folder).

Barry, I think you have maxed out your quality, you just can not make a HD video out of a very low defination source, which most home VCRs are.
You are lucky if the VCR can do 400 lines, most don't.
For myself, most of my video tapes were recorded at EP mode, (about two hours on a 60 minute tape). A few were recorded at SP mode, They are much better, but it takes twice the amout of tape.

After the upgrade, I can't download templates because I get a "Please install a browser on your PC" message (I have 3 installed).
Has this been fixed or is there a workaround other than going directly to DirectorZone to get templates? Thanks!
Is one of those browsers, Internet Explorer or Edge?
Powerdirector uses IE or Edge for downloading.

Ah. I understand. Thanks. But that is impossible to do, because I have to record it first to the computer to remove the noise, right?
So if I understand correct, I can't record my old hi8 family recording to the computer because it has some noise that powerdirector equal copyright? What a horrible system
use a third party software, there are many free applications that are imune to the noise on the tape and does not throw up a copyright error message.
Search for "video capture software" without quotes, also try "microsoft video capture software" without quotes.
Windows 10 is hiding a good free capture software.
<a>https://gizmodo.com/windows-10-is-hiding-a-great-video-capture-tool-1719196149</a>
Powerdirector must conform to the copyright laws, which is why it triggers on anything it thinks is copyright code.
|
|
I mean, be sure have non noisy video before you click the Record button.
When there noise in the video, such as white noise, the software thinks that is copyright protection.

Changing the aspect ratio did show up all of the Title templates from earlier projects.
The only one that did not show up was the one from version 16. It did not show up at either ratio.
I'll try to download again and be careful on the aspect ratio.
thank you
Content created in newer verions of Powerdirector may not show in older versions. Project files made in newer versions will not open in earlier versions.
On downloads from Director Zone, be sure your version of powerdirector is listed.

|
That copyright message, comes from usually noise on the tape.
You may have be sure there is clean video when you start recording. That may mean much manual start and stop the tape and recording.
If you have access to the free Microsoft free video recorder, you may be able to avoid the copyright message.

I checked here and the downloaded templates are not there. I had no problem when using version 15.
thank you for your prompt response.
Check a different aspect ratio. 16:9 or 4:3 only the aspect you have for your timeline will show.

The only option for removing gaps that will move all the other tracks is the "Remove and move all timeline clips after removed gap."
That closes the gap, and moves the rest of the timeline together. That should keep the sync relative to whatever postion the gap is.
There may not be a truly automatic way to do what you want.
The final choice is you the editor. Sometimes, you just have to use the manual method.

Thanks. Yes, but issue is after I have done edits in Track 1, i can lock and move other Tracks etc to line up on the timeline, and I can do that without needing to lock tracks. Let me try explaining it this way... I have all tracks lined up, all is good, and I am doing like a final review. Doing so, I come accross a photo that I missed and want to edit or say remove it. Now, removing it or inserting or change duration, this now modifies Track 1 as expected, but now the items in tracks 2, 3, 4 etc are no longer in sync with items in Track 1
Here is link to the photos
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AuYUQqgZ10QRyTQz5-kcADylKxLe
The Image to remove is sample of what I want to remove
the other 2 are what happens when I try to remove and how it affects the other tracks.
Thanks for the pictures,
I would fill the gap with something else with the same duration, otherwise you may end up with the other tracks out of sync with track 1. Or you could leave the gap, if there is something on track 2 and higher number track you would never see, the gap on track 1, all the other tracks overlay track 1.
Third option remove and fill gap, on track 1, then move the items on tracks 2 and 3 to resync. I do not know what that will do to the sound track.
