Greetings,

I am about to upgrade to Studio 365 from Studion 16 Ultimate.
How shallI perform an installation keeping all my custom and downloaded stuff?

Does it exist any detailed upgrade installation guide?
The previous version will be uninstalled, customization migrated, etc?

Is the newest version of CL software backward compatible with the previous (16) version?

MJany thanks in advance for any elucidation on the above.

Regards

PS
On how many computers can I install licenced Director Studio 365?

If you purchase a FULL version and not an upgrade version, you can have both Powerdirectors installed on your computer at the same time.

Live versions of Powerdirector Suite will replace the last Live version on your computer. You can only have one subscribed version.

The license for Cyberlink products state one computer per license. Unless you purchase multiple licenses.

Later versions of Powerdirector can open earlier Project files. You should Pack Project Materials on the older version in order to have all of the parts of the project in one place (folder).

Thank you very much for your explanation.

Just two precision, if you do not mind:

Will the version 17 be 'openable' in the version 16 of Director?

How about my custom/downloaded stuff (presets, transition. effects,. etc), will they be shared between two installed versions?
Where are these files stored in case I would like unistalll the version 16 befor installing Director Studio 365?

Once more many thanks for taking your time and your infos.

No. Newer versions of PowerDirector can always open older projects, but projects saved in the new version cannot be opened by older versions.

You do not need to uninstall the older version first. The new version will find all of your downloads, favorites, etc., and will let you use them in new and existing projects.

Unfortunately, they are stored in many different folders (C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector17, C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector; C:\Users\Public\CyberLink; \My Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector, and on and on) and it is difficult to locate and move everything.

Greetings,

Thank you, I do appreciate your clear and detailed infos.

In that case I think it would be advisable to install the new version of Director Studio 365, let the process find all custom stuff, migrate it and then uninstall eventuality the previous version, right?

Yes. If the older version is on a subscription (which I think only started recently), then the AppManager will automatically remove it when you install DS 365, but it will not change your settings or existing files.

If you paid for the older version, then you can choose to keep it installed or remove it. They will not interfere with each other, but you can only open on editor at a time.

Just to be 100% safe, it is a good idea to make a full backup of your C: drive on a regular basis. That way you'll always be able to recover your files and settings if anything goes wrong.
