Hi Keith

I did try this:
Open the CHAPTER track in the time-line (right-click in the track number field to open the menu to do that) and
create a chapter for the video (-part) you want to appear in the menu behind the button. Obviously this can also be the whole movie in the timeline, it that case select the chapter start to be the first frame.

PD (17) has the option to select a (or any) frame from the timeline as the chapter image.
So I pointed to the frame I wanted to use in the button and clicked select current frame.
Well, that button image is the precise image of the frame as shown in the preview screen.

So I manipulated this frame temporarily to show the image I wanted to use in the button, (You can do that by moving the white frame around the movie in the preview screen to crop the image so that it shows that part you need)
and pressed select current frame again. The temporarily enhanced frame appeared in the/as the chapter image.

Then I restored the movie image in the preview screen to normal again. Now dont press this select frame button again for this chapter. In my test the enhanced frame image appeared in the menu as required.

Now, there may be a way to select or overrule button images. It would be good to have that option anyway, but I have not found how (yet).

Maybe this helps?

Great, good to hear!
PD 17 is reported to accept these audio files and formats:
Audio File (Import) ▪ WAV, MP3, WMA, M4A, OGG, FLAC, AAC, AMR-NB, Opus NEW
Audio Format (Import) ▪ AAC, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, WAVE, MPEG-1 Layer III, FLAC, ALAC

The obvious is that you try to use a audio format that is not supported?
Did you select the microphone (and the system audio) in the preferences. Both were switched off when I opened the screen capture the first time.
After the driver update, PD asked me to rerun the opimization. Did you? It may be the cause?
I did rerun the optimization, I dont see any of the differences you showed.
I think that it is clear what you want: You have game videos; you want to upload on YouTube but before that insert an intro-video and add an end-note-video before uploading.

But what is your question? If it is, can I do that with PowerDirector? the answer is yes.
Here is de list Cyberlink gives about PD17:

https://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/specs_en_US.html
  1. About 30 DVDs is about 135 Gb (or 270 if the DVDs are double). I would suggest that you copy the DVD files to a hard disk first, maybe even into a folder per disk. It will work faster and you get what you want. (It requires that much disk space of course. If you have less, then copy and work on those DVDs that are applicable for your project.)
  2. The alternative is saving the projects manually regularly (pressing the CRTL-S). The auto-save files can be deleted of course. Your question suggests that you have limited disk space?
  3. The USB (disk? stick?),this again suggests that you have limited disk space? Yes you can save the project result to a USB, a hard disk may work faster and would be preferred. A project that spans over 30 DVD is a large project that requires large amount of disk space.
  4. The PDS file is an internal to PD project file that contains all the PD parameters to create the project with the internal PD tools. The conversion you ask for would be a PowerDirector to an (any) other Video Editor migration with would not be a trivial migration, if not to say impossible. It is not the PDS file you are after, it is the RESULT of the project you want as source for your DVD. The PD DVD creator does the two steps: create the required output and using that to create/convert into a DVD. Depending on whether you want nice DVD menu's etc. either use PD to burn a new DVD or output the project results to a (DVD compatible, like MPEG2) video file, and then create the DVD with these MPEG2 files as source using another DVD creator like, AShampoo Burning Studio, PowerToGo (also Cyberlink), ConvertXtoDVD, and the like.
LOL, that is what I often do, but I guessed that ATJ wanted to have the benefits of automatic generation.
Most of the effects have the option to change settings at keyframe level.
Drag the required effect to the fx line in the timeline. Select it and click on modify. Depeding on the nature of the effect a number of settings can be changed.
If you click on the keyframe button at the bottom also at keyframe level. Some effects have the option to change a mix % with the original (example look at Emboss).
In case they don't have that the trick is to duplicate the "effected" videopart and put that in parallel with the original on the separate track. The effect video above the original. Then change the opacity from 0% (not visible) to 100% completely visible. Which has the "effect" I think you are asking for: the effected part is fased out.
There are some excellent youtube tutorials that explain all this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8cosdWggDw

Have fun.

and...
when selecting an image from the timeline, the option to invoke PhotoDirector appears in the top of the fix/enhance menu.
Like the selection of a video in the timeline will show ColorDirector at the top of the fix/enhance menu.
Unlike thoug selecting a piece of audio, the AudioDirector (and Audio Editor) will only show when opening the tools menu.
(that is if you have these tools installed).
(As Tony says, we submitted at about the same time :)
Apparently some NewBlue packages are delivered but not part of the PD17 deal. Look at the PD17 comparison to see what is and is not part. They plugins work in trial mode (it looks like a red cross in the image, and can be purchased.
My experience is, that the installation of PD17 does leave the PD16 installation alone. NO automatic uninstall, and after installation PD17 and PD16 work fine, but not at the same time.
When installing Content Packages, the installer will notice that a pack has already been installed (previous PD version likely), and directs to cancel or uninstall before installation. So far I have not noticed any difference either way.

I would recommend to download them all, should you need them in future e.g. for reinstallations.

If you execute the packs I have found that if you have PD16 and did not uninstall it, you are prompted that the pack already execists and do youwant to uninstall before installation. I have not discovered any change in the packs between 16 and 17.

The NewBlue Paint Effects and the Essentials VII appear to require a licence key. They (still) work in PD16. They are not part of the PD17 ultimate package.
First I would check the images whether the images and their thumbnails are correct. some (photo) tools automatically rotate the image and or thumbnail for you.

Secondly I recall that this kind of behavior was mentioned in one of the previous versions of PD16. Suggest to check whether you have download in installed the very lastest version of PD 16, which is: 16.0.3005.1

And have a look at this topic here: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/65610.page#299065

PD is a video editor. You will find out that still PD has great features to make slide shows, that the automatic generation is more suitable for a smaller set of pictures.
Once the generation has been done you have the option you change the result manually. That also is nice and gives you good flexibility, but depending on what you want to do and the number of images it may also be time consuming.
Then there is sorting of the pictures. PD alternative to the timeline (use the TAB-key in PD16) enables you to get the images in the right order. As a work around, maybe take the large set at once and do manual changes in the timeline. And maybe combine the sound clips separately in advance in the desired order so that you can load the single song?
Alternatively you can

  • Make smaller sets of images, generate them separately and edit them together in a second pas

  • Or load the images in/on the timeline and tread them as video-clips, and video edit them. The nice functions of a generated slide show will not be readily available and will be harder to make though.

StevenG is right of course, about taking the audience into account, and BR not playing on DVD players etc.
Looking at your original question: the answer is yes. A Blu-ray or a double DVD may be the more handy solution depending on your circumstances.
a double layer DVD can store about 4 hours of video (SD quality that is), or is your video even longer than that?

Blu-ray is always better of course, and obviously you upscale your output to full HD.
Danke, Hatti!

I have found the title in the installation files of PD 15, or 14 I still have, and have it working. That saves me a puchase.

Please help.
It shows a grey picture at the bottom of the frame, with DEPARTURES in the top and any text will becomes visible by turning letters.

I have used this 1 year ago, and have moved to a new computer and apparently not re-installed all templates.

I see that it may have been part of travel pack 3

WHERE can I find that template, please
Thanks

Warry
That looks nice too. What software did you use?
