I just checked mine, It opened the second time after almost immediately closing it and it did not give me that message.
Why are you opening and closing the program that frequently? What do you have going on when you first close it? Where are you saving the temporary project files?
Quote It is up to your habit whether you like to burn with power2go or PowerDirector 7. I always prefer to work with PowerDirector.

For data discs? That is what the original poster indicated that he wanted to back up.
What bad news. He will surely be missed. His expertise was an awe inspiring educational phenomenom.
There is no software that will make the screen recorder work better. The problem is a hardware issue.
Please reread my last couple of posts. Did you know that the blue text are links to other information? Do you know what a dxdiag.exe evaluation of your computer is? Your computer may work properly for word processing and general internet surfing but it will not preform properly under a high stress situation such as screen capture.
Perhaps others will be able to offer suggestions. I can't help more.
I have the Samsung Gear 360 and the program can stitch the video using the included 360 editor. It is the program that is in PowerDirector AND in the Samsung utilities. That is the reason I bought the 360 and got rid of a different camcorder.
Watch the last Cyberlink Webinar to see what PowerDirector 16 has to offer.
Also look at the PowerDirector University (example).
Quote Just tried slideshow on PD16 latest revision and it appears to ignore all changes made to clips.

So simple - make adjustments to exposure/contrast size position crop et al - they do not show on the timeline and do not appear in the slideshow.

Whereas using the same set of clips (jpgs) and just play as a normal video and the adjustments do appear in the preview, even though not on the timeline.

So timeline display does not show any changes - but maybe this is how CL designed it.

Slideshow ignores changes - and this is bad, as regular video uses changes as made.

Any thoughts peoples?

Slide show is essentially premade and not adjustable except within narrow limits.
If you want to be able to change more, use the full editor.
Sorry
Quote When to use my software this morning & noticed that there was an update available. I went through the entire process a couple of times, but was unable to udate software.

Data1.7z file couldn't be installed, the error code was 2

is there going to be a problem if I don't upgrade the software, because it seems to be working fine

Here is what the update "fixes"
Note: This patch is not for Power2Go OEM versions, or versions purchased via Steam.

  • Adds support on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update platforms.

  • Resolves the issue that certain YouTube videos cannot back up in 2160P (4K) quality.

  • Minor bug fixes.

If it is working fine AND you have the Windows 10 fall update, then your probably don't need it.
What is Power Director Recorder? Do you mean the "Capture" part of the program or do you mean "Screen Recorder"?
Please define record. Is it
1) Screen record
2) Record from web cam.
3) Record from VHS or Tape using a analog to digital recorder.
4) Record only audio
5) Other?
Don't be afraid to be wordy -- we cannot look over your shoulder to see what you want to do.

Minimum specs are here.

Please provide the dxdiag.exe file on your computer. It is a Windows program so just search your computer/run it. Post the text file from the dxdiag.exe.

My original statement holds - your computer is below the minimum specs and it will not be good enough for what you want. It is a dual core, dual thread processor. Look up preformance vs a i5 processor or any of the other processors in the specifications. Go here.
It looks like EZGrabber is not the best of A/D converters. Look at these videos.

Quote Your PowerDVD 14 is probably an OEM version of the software so it may not have all the bells and whistles that the full commercial version has.
As for PowerDVD 17, your computer is below the minimum specs. You need at least an i5 so the update is moot.

Isn't the minimum specs for seventh gen i5 or better?
If that' the case my i3 is 8100 which is equivalent to the i7 7th gen according to benchmarks.

No, it is in the internal of the i3 vs i5 such as the bus/number of .... Sorry, perhaps you can look up the differences. Cyberlink would have put an allowance for i3 if it would have worked.
You have just proved that it doesn't.
Quote Please help! I have Power Director 12 and have been trying to capture my old VHS tapes. The audio comes through, but there is no video. I am a real novice with this software, as I only bought it to transfer my VHS home movies to dvds. I even tried using EZ Grabber, but I cannot figure out how that works. Anyone have step by step instructions on how to do this? Thanks in advance!

To capture VHS, you need to connect an Analog to Digtal (A/D) converter to the output jacks on the back of your VHS player.
The A/D converter like EZ Grabber is required. It had special drivers for the device. Did you install the drivers according to the instructions? If not, you have to remove the drivers that Windows installed and then install the ones to the device.
If you have a laptop, use any USB port on the other end of the A/D device. If youi have a desktop, uses the USB jacks on the back of the computer. If you are out of the US, you need a SCART connector to match the plugs.
Read. read, read the directions for the EZGrabber.
If the VHS tapes are old, damaged, or otherwize not in great condition, there will be problems. You can try connecting a TV to the EZGrabber to check the connections.
Perhaps you can find a tutorial (watch some of these) or other video on how to do this since a step by step guide would be both redundant to what you alreay have and would be a major task to complete.
If you have a particular question with capturing issues, post back.
Quote Dear friends,

I just installed the upgrade to PC 16 but I can't find the SmartSound area to edit the sound in the videos.
Can you tell me where is the download instructions because during the installation of Upgrade never askme to install it.
Thank You for your help.
Best regards, Luis

Two dfferent things - Smart Sounds is part of Magic Music. If you press that, you will get to the Smart Sounds library.
The audio controls in PD16 have changed. Perhaps this video will help; there is more. I know, it drove me crazy to try to edit the audio without the information.
Your PowerDVD 14 is probably an OEM version of the software so it may not have all the bells and whistles that the full commercial version has.
As for PowerDVD 17, your computer is below the minimum specs. You need at least an i5 so the update is moot.
Quote Hello,
I see I missed the cut off for suggestions but I would like to know if it would be possible to include 21:9 video project resolution in the next PowerDirector? I make videos for YouTube and I often get comments about this.
Thanks.

I'm sure that someone will see this and take it under advisement but it might have been better to include this in PowerDIRECTOR part of the forum rather than in PowerDVD (viewer) part of the program.
Look at the storyboard view to see if there are any blank boards.
Quote I qam considering moving into 360 photo/videos. Learning about how it all works.

My research shows that the Ricoh Camera V appears to be one of the better 360 cameras.

Does anyone have experience with the 360 technologhy in relation to the PD 360 editng?

Not sure what thed format is coming from the 360 camera is but will start learning the correlation with the camera and PD 16 ULT.

Alan

Hi Allen,

There was a very good webinar on 360 video during the last Cyberlink Webinar. Perhaps watching it will answer some of your questions. It is here.

I have the Samsung Gear 360 camcorder 1st version. I understand that the second version is much better. I like mine but it does have some flaws.

By the way, if you have questions concerning PowerDirector 16 , post in that forum; you may have inadvertantly posted in PowerDVD - the video/audio/image player.
Quote Hello, I just recently upgraded and uploaded my PD to 15. Upon video editing and uploading video to my Youtube account the video quality doesnt allow me to upload the video into HD quality. It has the lowest setting possible and doesnt even offer the chance to change to any other video quality (HD). Can someone assist me with why this is happening? Is there another setting to turn this feature on or I have a download file missing?
I never had this issue before with PD14.

Thanks.

No answers yet? Are you trying to use the uploader in the program? It is better and faster if you produce the video to a YouTube compatible format and use the YouTube uploader.

Also remember that right after you upload, videos don't look good. You have to wait until YouTube fully processes it which can take hours.

Let us know if that helps.
How long is long? How you you intend to show the video? Standard definition or high definition? Your computer is the problem for what you are trying to do.

Without more information, it is hard to offer a bunch of suggestions.

Have you thought about splitting the project into sections that your computer will handle? Put the video on the timeline and do your edits. Where you see the audio issues, stop and delete everything after that point. Save the project as part 1. Add the original into the timeline again and delete what is in the first part. Repeat as above until you have it all. Go to produce and add all the parts together to get a video file.

Note, you have Windows updates that haven't been successful. That should be done even if you have to take it back to get it updated.

When did you do any maintenance on it? Take a look at the free space on your drives: ---------------------
Drive: C:
Free Space: 30.7 GB
Total Space: 81.9 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: ST500LM021-1KJ152

Drive: D:
Free Space: 7.9 GB
Total Space: 390.4 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: ST500LM021-1KJ152

Time to sort through and delete some of the junk you don't need.

Keep other programs running at a minimum - disconnect from the internet, turn off your antivirus, close any unneeded programs that start at boot, etc.
Try adding a color board to the main video track. Add your videos to the second video track. You should be able to do some resizing and rotating.

Remember that a standard DVD is also standard video (4 by 3). If you want to get higher quality, use 16 by 9. If you want to burn it to disc, you can either burn an AVCHD disc (about 30 minutes of video) or blu ray. You can also consider burning the HD video to a thumb drive and play the video from there.
You got it. I will ignore your posts in the future.

You asked about a refund and I gave you the information since your request might have been time critical. I now see that it is not.

You can always send HiChan a private message to make sure he sees it.
Go here. if you bought it directly from Cyberlink. If you bought it locally, then you have to go back to them.
