I want to start making tutorial videos of our Under 10 ice hockey games and practices for my team.
Is it possible to use PowerDirector as a Telestrator where you can draw over video while recording the screen?
Thanks
There are better applications for this. After you have a video, you can highlight movement and add a voice over. Is that what you want to do?

Great ! Please change the name of this thread to solved and you might want to mark your solution as the best answer.

In timeline mode, go to preferences, and then general. For audio, you have at least 2 options. Try changing one for another. I have only 2.0 (stereo) but I have both stereo and 5.1 options. I get no audio if 5.1 is selected.

If I record 4k video in .mov format Powerdirector start looping when I try to save my project or to produce a movie without saving it.
I waste a lot of time editing movies as I cannot always remember what I did. That's what saving is my work us used for !
Please explain the sentence I bolded.
Please explain a little better what you mean by looping while saving. The same for producing.
How far are you a=ble to go in production? Cab you select the output video format?
Please attach the dxdiag.exe file for your computer (Windows/Start/Run). There is no personal information in the dxdiag. Just attach the text file and not the line by line result.

Perhaps you will get more and better results if youposted in the PowerDirector part of the forum. You may have inadvertantly posted in the Power DVD (video player) part of the forum.
You may also want to provide more information.

Hey everyone,
I'm thinking of purchasing this product but I was curious to know if anybody knows if this product can create split-screen images? I want to try and do some 'before and after' style photos and I hear-tell photodirector is a pretty good program. Does this program offer that feature? And if so, does anyone have a tutorial on how to create a 'split-screen' image for it?
Cheers!
Try it yourself. There is a 30 day trial here.
There are tons of tutorials here.
The easiest way is to use overlays to a color background. There are others depening on how much you are going to do.

It works from the TV? Are you sure you are using the correct ports on the VHS? Typically the port on the front is an input port; the ones on the back are the ouput.

Did the device come with drivers for it? Did you install those drivers before you plugged in the device?
I know of a different device that won't work if you let Windows install drivers for it. The fix is to delete the current drivers with the device plugged in and then reboot with the device unplugged. Once your computer is rebooted, install the special drivers for it before plugging it in. Once those drivers are installed, reboot and only then plug in the device.
Sorry, I'm grasping at straws here.

Yes. I have tested all the signals that are available. HDV, DV and other options are not available. I just installed the software that came with grabber. Can you recommend a software that I can test?
I´m starting to believe that something is wrong with the hardware
Do you have the VHS connected to the grabber and is the VHS powered on?
Where do you have the grabber plugged into your computer? You cannot use a USB HUB. What laptop do you have?

Roxio (Corel) has a light color backgound also.

Have you looked at the project in Storyline view? The gaps will show up as blanks. It will take much less time to detete the gaps.
Please tell us why you have so many gaps and what "certain kinds of jobes" are.

Re: Power Director 16 - answered in your other thread.
Color Director will NOT improve those old VHS tapes to any satisfactory amount in this case.
The major issue is the capture of the VHS and not the editing. How/what are you using to capture and what format. Does your computer have the hard drive space for AVI files? There are non-compressed and may be slightly better than mpg2. Mpg2 are compressed and will stress your computer more but that is the format that video is on a standard definition DVD.
Have you thought about a VHS player with a disc burner built in? That would be the best capture; you can always edit the videos from them.

I don't think you will be happy with the performance of PowerDirector on your computer. It will be slow and I think your editing may have stuttering and other nasty stuff. I assume yiou will want to edit high definition video and not just standard definition. Note my signature.
Why don't you download the trial version to show you how it performs.? It won't give you everything but if it doesn't work with the trial version, it won't work with the commercial versions.
Let us know.

Please close out this thread by changing the name. It is currently in the PowerDVD 16 thread. Repost in the PowerDirector thread if you want good or any answers. Take time beacuse you probably expect others to take the time to read/think and reply.
I sometime mistype so spelling is an issue. You may want to take the time to make sure your spelling and questions make sense. Perhaps Google Translate can help?

How do you do sub-clips in the media window? In Avid you can create sub-clips so you do not have to drag large files to the timeline.
PowerDVD, where you posted is a video player; PowerDirector is the video editor. That may be one reason you are not getting answers.
Unfortunately your terminology may also be causing people to not understand your question. Sub-clips may be OK for Avid but not for this program. Think scenes !
When you have you video file loaded, right click on it and select "detect scenes" A new window will open and scenes will be detected, you can change the sensitivity or manually detect the scenes. I think it is self explanatory from there .

Is there a setting on turning on the audio when doing frame by frame moves? It is nice to hear the audio to when triming.
Think about it - what sound would be useful for 1 of the 30 or 60 frames per second of the video? or are you looking for audio during video scrubbing?
Use the wave form for a visual indication.
