I am setting up a green screen area in my basement. I have softbox lighting that is fluorescent 6500K for lighting the subject. Can I use 5000K for lighting the green screen or will the slight difference in color temperature cause a problem? 5000K lighting is inexpensive at Home Depot.

My power director 11 does not do a very good job cleaning the audio of a .mts file. I thought maybe I could extract the audio and clean it in audacity but I can't even import the file.
Any suggestions?

I am new to green screen. Does NewBlue have alpha channel support?

I have downloaded green screen effects from youtube such as spark, smoke, and others. I find it difficult to key out the green completely even though the green is perfect. For example, if I use green screen smoke there is always a lot of residual green mixed with the gray smoke. If I adjust the parameters enough to eliminate the green completely no smoke is left. It is likely caused from the color green changing as the smoke appears.
I am still using PD 11 and I know there were some improvements in green screen with pd 12. So my question is has anyone found PD 12 to do a much better job of keying out green than PD 11 or is it just marginally better?

The set up would be a newsroom look in the background that includes a video monitor that is green screen. A person (in this case a child doing a news report on the wonder woman theme) will be sitting behind a desk in from of the news background. The desk will be covered by green screen so it can be keyed out. So I will need a news desk to place in front of the child. I picked a youtube video as an example. I realize what I do may not be as complex as the video example.

Does anyone know where I can get a free news room studio background video that I can chromakey some one in front of to make it look like they are giving a news report?

Thanks Ynotfish
I kept trying to accomplish what I wanted with a mask but it didn't work. I took your idea and added one step. I had to make a still of the flyover clip because there was too much movement for an overlay on the video. I then simulated a little flight movement.

I have a video on the top track which is a view looking through the window of a blimp. On the second track is a png file of wonder woman's plane. I want the picture of the plane to rise up and then be seen through the window of the blimp as though it is flying outside the blimp. So the plane should slowly become visible as it rises upward. However, it looks like it is inside the blimp. See wonder woman plane picture 1. After it rises upward it will look like wonder woman picture 2.
I tried making a mask for the lower one forth of the picture to cover the plane before it rises upward but then the mask also covers the plane as it moves upward.
Thanks for any help

I just discovered that a good cartoon effect can be achieved by using the pd woodcut effect on a clip and then placing the same clip on the track below with no effect but set at 50% opacity.
Just thought I would share this.

I asked a similar question not long ago. If the final output is stuttery why not produce the smartpone files to 50P first then edit in PD? Then everything would match.

You are correct. I have an old version. It is 1.4. I need to upgrade. Thanks for you help.

Hi CubbyHouse
Look at the screen shot for cartoon effect.

Hi Tomasc
I watched your video and that is part of what I want to create and I also have been able to do that with a picture in picture object. But I can't tell from the 3 sec clip if more stars are continually being created so that there is a constant stream of stars from infinity that enlarge as they move toward the TV. Look at the clover 3D effect. New clover is constantly being generated.
thanks for your effort

I am still using PD 11 ultimate but I decided to ask this question on PD 12 forum
For the first time I am trying to use New blue effects. I want to use the cartoon effect on my grand child. I find the effect to be extremely slow to respond when making any adjustments, to the point of making the effect almost unusable. I tried some of the other New blue effects and got the same result.
PD effects work as they should.
Anyone else having this experience?

Beautiful star. Thanks Tony
I also need help in the particles room. I want stars to emit from the center of a picture as though from infinity and come straight towards the middle of the screen as though they are going to come out of the TV screen and hit the viewer in the eyes. (Although I am not trying to make a 3D video). I have fiddled with the parameters but can't seem to get what I want. Picture a single stream of stars being created and coming straight at you.

I am trying to make a silver star as a png image in paint.net. I would like to use this as a custom image in the particle room in Pd. I can't figure out how to make the star silver in color. I have already made red, white, and blue. Silver must be some combination of white and gray.

The camera I am using records at a frame rate of either 60i or 60p. I have just switched to shooting at 60p. I am working on a project that has a mixture of 60p clips from my camcorder and Hd video downloaded from Youtube. I am getting a warning from PD about having clips of different frames and there may be distortion. Some of the clips from Youtube are 24fps and others are 30 fps, no 60fps. Do I need to somehow convert these to 60fps since my camera is recording at 60P?
When the project is complete it will be authored to a bluray disc to play on a big screen TV.
thanks,

I am going to author a bluray disc and encode as H.264. I plan to play this with my bluray player and watch on a 55inch Vizio tv using just the TV speakers (no surround sound). What audio setting should I pick?, Dolby digital or LPCM?

It took me a long time to figure out how to burn AVCHD to a standard DVD or DVD RW. But thanks to the good people on this forum I finally got it. I just wanted to share a few things that may help others.
To author a sharp video in the AVCHD format I turned off: Hardware acclerator (both the open CL option and the enable hardware decoding option) in preferences, unchecked smartfit and true theater sound in the create disc section. I then did an experiment and turned smartfit back on and the video was still very sharp.
I was also able to author a clear bluray disc using the H.264 format which takes less space than mpeg 2 by unchecking hardware acclerator and true theater sound.
thanks everyone
