Thanks for the response Tony! Where I was going with this was, if I put a 120 fps clip into the timeline, and reduced the speed to .25 - would this clip preview (in the preview window) look like a clip 'shot at' 60 fps and slowed to .50 speed?

Would they both exhibit the same clarity-resolution???

I don't see me purchasing the PD15 just to see if this is the case. I'm thinking I'm still a version or two away from an upgrade or purchase. Not trying to discourage anyone from such but it's just my personal preference.

Thanks Tony,

CS
I've gotten some information from another thread that PD 15 will produce 120 fps - but you can't set the timeline preferences to 120 fps.

So if I dropped a 120 fps clip into the timeline, what happens? What happens to the viewing of the clip in the preview window? And does this happening in the preview window affect what happens to the produced video or what would be burned onto a BDR (I think not... but want confirmation)?

Thanks

Edit: deletion of my original comment and inquiry

I think the my original inquiry I had was not related to the OP so I'll delete it. SOrry Guys for the off topic tangent.

I think I was heading down that road of determining if it's worth upgrading based on if PD15 was able to edit 1080p 120fps and wanted to know more about what PD can do with that regard, before I said if I thought it was worth upgrading or not. If it can't then I'm not as intereted in upgrading.

BUt I think the question really relates to what individual characteristic is desired from the user and whether PD provides that feature from manipulating video. Kind of an individual preference comes into play I think. nuff said

CS
So in PD15 - is there no 1080p 120fps editing (or higher resolutions with higher frame rates) ????? They didn't 'upgrade' the editing to allow this yet (correct/incorrect???)?

I'm presuming it is not offered yet ..... dang!

CS
I've put this in the wrong 'Room' folks - apologies.

Should be moved to the PD Previous Versions Room. If someone can do that fine - if you can't I'll go create the post there. (wont do this until early next week)

Thanks

I was wondering if there has been any updates that I haven't seen regarding QuickTime and GoPro Studio relating to PD. I saw the QT thread (earlier this year) and uninstalled it as there was a security issue. THen wasn't there a GoPro Studio issue too?

I have one camera, the FujiFilm XP70 that shoots in .MOV format and the GoPro camera that I shoot clips in a different format. The GoPro I can import directly into PD's timeline but I find I need to convert the FujiFilm's clips since I removed QT from the computer here.

Has there been any chatter about anything resolving the QT security issue? Additionally has there been any talk about the GoPro Studio issues regarding PD?

CS
I think tomasc is saying that the video will be on one track and the audio on another track. Then just dragging the audio a little bit... perhaps just a few frames or a frame at a time - until you get them synced up - would be considered manually syncing the voices with the video.

Sounds like it would work to me. I think I did some of that with two different simultaneous videos once.

CS
Might be a good idea to get a DVD-RW disc and try producing at different settings to see which one/s work - that is, play back on your target DVD player?!?!

Then you will know what produce setting to use.

But like Longedge said - usually the source clips characteristics... the source clips 'settings' are the setting you should use for the produced project.... usually - but it has to 'play' correctly on whatever targeted player you are going to use... obviously.

This is a 5 and a half year old thread. Start a new thread for your issue Andy....ok?

Try to go to this link:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40225.page

.... read it.... provide some more information about your set up and your issue based on that link.

CS
Looks to me like the editing is just taking and deleting groups of frames out of the sequence that was originally recorded.

I am not familiar with PD15 so ... maybe someone that is can tell you if that is an 'effect' or not that is provided.

If it is not provided... like I said, looks like you could just go into your timeline and split, delete sections then drag the clips that trail the sections you just deleted - drag them to the left to 'butt them up against' the end of the clip to the left.

If any of that makes sense?!?!?!?

CS
You might be better served with starting a thread since this is 9 months old.

CS
I never knew mp3s had any issue either. Nice to know if an mp3 is trouble... convert or use a WAV of it.

CS
Just my take on this.... I can see that you could do 2 out of the 3 things you want to do.

First off, what you are calling a 'template' I think what you want in PD is called a Title Page. So you would create a Title Page that would have your 'Custom' title on it. THen that gets inserting into your project. If you change that title for each class - you would need to make a new title page with the new 'wording' on it each time. But if the title was the same for every class, then a saved Title Page created and saved - could be re-used for any project you create. But it would need to be inserted into each project that you create.

The ending credits though - if they are the same - then (like described above) a Title Page created could be re-used for each different project/class you create.

The transitions, I do not know how you could automatically put those into different projects. I think you might have to insert those on a project by project basis.

I thought there was some way to insert all of the same transition between all clips though at one time. You might be able to look into that possibility. But that would still need to be done to each project/video you create.

CS
You might want to start a new thread if you have more questions about this issue. This thread was 5 months old when you responded to it PaulC.

CS
Think I will have to look that up too Barry! lol

tomasc, I'm glad you continue to help those of us out that are only on the initial cusp of trying, just trying to understand much of all this STUFF that comes with using PD and video editing in general.

Thanks for helping me and many more out - thus your 2000 post count is not doubt - a LOT OF HELPING OUT!

Way to go!

I look forward to more of your responses.

CS
Maybe you can post a screen shot or video - per this:

Parts E of F.

Then others can see what you see is happening.

CS
No expert on this account but I think the 'trial version' of PD is not able to be transferred to a different computer (just thought I had heard this in the past).

I certainly could be wrong so see what the others have to say.

CS
Looks like there are many i5s mixed in the list - some rated above the i7 - at least some of the i7s. Also looks like when you get to the PassMark rating of i5-4690K @ 3.50GHz - I don't think there's anymore i5s rated above the i7s (after just a quick look).

Nice list to look at when considering CPUs - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Edit - corrected 'about' to 'above' and corrected spelling of just
Why would my 4460 be data point 6603 on the vertical axis instead of 4460 on the same axis?

CS
I edited as you were answering, sorry for the confusion on my part.

CS
I have an i5-4460 Haswell, 3.2 GHz CPU.

CPU-Z.... states "Intel Core i5 4460". Does this suffix number - is it just an identification number or does it indicate a performance characteristic of the i5?

Maybe the 4460 is the PasMark? If it is, then my ID is somewhere around 35. What does the CPU ID mean or tell me about my CPU?
