1) You can only produce full movies. If you want to make several partial clips of a video, you are out of luck.
You CAN produce sections of the timeline. Watch this: <a>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwsawtU9IyQ</a>
A good tutorial on sections. What you might be looking for is at about 3:15

In general, one does not have to care about the size of media used in web-pages anymore, because the bandwidth is often adequate enough. And yes JPEG images appear faster when smaller, but then the images would be of lesser quality.
For video the user knows and expects and accepts that there are more bytes involved, so you determine the quality. If you want more you go for more pixels and... for larger source files.
Look at what Youtube is doing, it offers various qualities sometimes even in a range from 144p to 2160p (4k). The user selects quality desired, (maybe) on the bandwith available.
The creator of such videos always submits the highest and Youtube converts downwards to the range. I am sure that the creator would use images of the largest size he has available.
Hope that this helps.
o, and btw: if you go for 1920x1080 and use smaller jpeg files, the quality of the video would be less, but still with the size of a 1920x1080 video...

PD 365
Do I need to make the MB size smaller? What is the best MB size to use?
Is there a pacticular reason for asking this? It is for still images I asume. The file size (also) depends on the storage format used, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, etc. etc. More or less compression may have been applied. The color depth has impact on the size too. Etc.
I guess that in general one might say: the larger the file, the more information about the image it contains, the better result you would get when converting it into a movie. And conversion time for still into movie is less of an issue.
So, why do you ask?

Hi AG14,
Your "problem" is intriguing: A rotating earth with one or more lines between places that depict travel, whereas the lines move with the same speeds are the earth rotation at the same time as the travel.
I can imagine that some of the far more experienced PD users have started to look at possible solutions. Which would include:
- finding a video of a rotating earth that is reasonable of size and quality
- Deciding how to show the travel lines on this earth. The earth is moving left to right and (per you example: the travel London to Sydney is left to right too).
- Making a mask for a (each) travels for the bending line(s) that are reasonably of the same shape and size as the earth bends
- Making sure that this mask is rotating with the same speed as the earth-video
- making a animated paint with about the same size and shape as the mask (above) to show the moving travel that appears behind the mask
- Combining all these to get to the video you desire
Although the above can be done, it probably requires a bit more experience than a newbie (as you write you are) has. There are some excellent tutorials that may help you in the right direction:
The earth (e.g. there are many): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsRoaz3iFcI
How to draw a line using a mask: (Recommend watching all Sharper Turtles tutorials first : ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUXLvqR8iPI
And when you have something, we would love to see it, so please share !
Have fun

Indeed Jeff, I can reproduce this error in my system. It gives precisely the same results as you display: BrowseFile.mp4
However if if change the filename from PD18_BrowseFile.mp4 into PD18_browsefile.mp4, so lowercase after the underscore, the filename in he fileselection screen will be: _browsefile.mp4 (it now starts with the underscore).
I played a bit more with the filename:
When I change the name into NewBrowseFile.mp4, PD18 still displays PD18_browsefile.mp4 after I selected the new place for the file.
which made me "discover again" that media in the media-room displays the original file name, OR the alias assigned to the file by the user. If one resets the alias then the actual filename is used. The handling of the files seems to be correct.
About your bug discovery: it can be reproduced and I take it that you have notified CL.
Take care

In English, for the rest of the forum sorry:
When changing, editing, enhancing photo's Photodirector will automatically add -1, -2 etc behind the name of your photo. Then again if you want full control, it is good practise to save them either in a separate folder or with a name YOU can recognize.
So the answer to your second question is: yes, simply save them as above and use them for publications and slide shows:
After that you can simple load the proper (editied) photo files into PowerDirector to create a slide show.
Et en français: ;

Additionally, if you want the gain of all the clips in a track adjusted, use the horizontal slider for the particular track in the "Audio Mixing Room" F9. This will increase the gain of all clips on that track the same amount.
Jeff
Additionally, in the Audio Mixing Room a normalize button is available. This will get all clips in your timeline at about the same volume. This only works fairly well for more than one clip. Normalization within one clip, what it is you need, I understand, I could not find (yet).

I had similar problems, and indeed after I changed my password, it all worked again.

I believe that AudioDirector 10 (and maybe also lower versions) still has the the ability to expand to stereo as part of the Stereo Expander function. When you load a mono file and activate the stereo expander, you will be prompted that it cannot expand because of only one channel is available, so it needs to be converted to stereo before proceeding. Various options are presented including 5.1 and 7.1 channels. If you select (just) stereo, you will get 2 channels.
Please let me know if that is what you are looking for?!

High possibility that there is some piece of media, a title, a particle or thelike somewhere, minutes or hours away on your timeline. Try pressing the END-key, which should bring PD to the end of the very last piece in your timeline, and then press the + at the bottom left to enlarge the items (/details) on the timeline. Maybe you will find something the got astay.
The easy way of course is the TDK1044 solution ;

I was talking about GM 3 patch update v.2405. It took about 60 seconds to download, and the install was even faster. Are you guys talking about something different, or was it because I was downloading at 6am this morning?
It is 2405.0 (365) I am talking about. 6am might have made the difference, although it may have been at the same time I was downloading in the afternoon ;
I think that the Application manager might very well be the culprit. I am downloading some packages which takes forever.

Package updates usually take forever so I am not surprised. I am stuck on a screen that says updating Cyberlink Application Manager. I will try again later if this goes on.
i was impatient and stopped waiting after 10 mins, and downloaded the application manager directly, which was done in no time, after which it took (me) > 2 hours to download and implemented the software....
|
|
>2. hours for the whole package.
|

It is slow here too. My guess is that since there are updates for all programs, the Cyberlink download servers are very busy.

I would just add an 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' observation here. If, like me, you have a good Laptop with a good Nvidia GPU that PD doesn't access, ask yourself if that matters. In my case, PD 18 uses my i7 processor and it renders quickly and accurately. I see no need to try and get it to use the Nvidia 1060. So, my advice would be to only try and force the program to access the GPU if you are unhappy with how it currently renders projects.
I fully and wholeheartedly agree, TDK1044!
However, still a kind nudge to Cyberlink to look at the utilization of GPU's on laptops, as most of the other video software manufacturers seem to be able to do the trick.
|
|
Always good to look at the options and possibilties. I have done some tests, and I don't see that the GPU is being used when directed, and there is no difference in performance.

The numbers I see in the transitions tab of my PD 365 DO equate. I see a total of 199, and I have indeed 199 transitions, at least when I total the counts on each line. Included are the downloaded and Custom transitions.
One can wonder of course how valuable it is to have a precise mention of totals. And even if it is important to have a count of all the variations per single transition, other than for commercial purposes?
And: Even Convergence, DropBox, Stripe Wipe, Tumbling Dice & Zipper are all there (in my installation they appear to be residing in the folders of action Pack 2d transitions, in program files (x86) / Cyberlink /Templates ........)
My assumption is that PD18 (365) collects the transitions, particles etc. from that various known folders at start up. One may have noticed that the details behind the tabs are filled in with some delay.
Looking at the folders at the obvious and not so obvious places, I see that transitions, but also other "specials" can be all over the place. In folders of former versions, in folders as part of (some) Content Packs like the Action Pack I mentioned.
I can understand and do appreciate it that Cyberlink has made some effort in making sure that the transitions and other stuff from previous versions are still available, taking into account that users may skip versions and do or don't have 365. Even settings can be found in the "all users" and the "public" user folders (the latter contains some downloaded stuff, at least in my installation).
One may also recall with me discussions, also in this forum space, about moving templates from one to another folder after having moved to a newer version? I can imagine that Cyberlink eventually wants (has!) to reorganize this a bit, otherwise somewhere the loading of their software will become slower than acceptable (even with the usage of links in the registry). Some sort of automated collection and moving process could be a solution? Maybe even as part of the Application manager?(In any case I would strongly recommend an automated and properly tested backup meganism.....
Besides the speed, such reorganization may also help users getting their collection in order e.g. when transferring to another computer.... Of course there may be the problem of transitions (etc.) not being downwards compatible or to maintaining downwards compatibility in newer software. I see that in (folder- ) version naming and in .XML files version numbering in some but not all cases is already used. Consistency should be key.
But I agree, although intriguing, and even annoying if you see that the transitions you always used are lost when moving to a newer version, I also don’t lose too much sleep over it. Cyberlink eventually should.
My two cents....

Given that many of us all of a sudden got into (workflow) problems, maybe even missing deadlines, and have inability to proceed after the introduction of a new version, I suggest that Cyberlink considers the implementation of one or more of the following features in de 365 model:
a) Option - facility to back-out (restore) to the previous version
b) Option to postpone the installation of a newer version (We have that already: just do not press the update button)
c) Option - facility to test a new version, whether a beta of final version along with the current (working) version.
Option C of course is the most ideal, for both Cyberlink and its users, as it gives Cyberlink the option to have new versions tested wider and gives users the option to test out the new features, find all the bugs there are to be found, whilst still continue working with the previous version. Maybe the period in which more than one version coexist should be limited for both Cyberlink and users sake (like: update to latest version within 30 days?).
We all know that software nowadays is very complex and can hardly ever become bug-free. So, play it safe, ask a wider range of experienced users to finalize the testing before submission, (and support that with the options meantioned) are things that can help prevention of serious disruption and upheave.
I have also submitted this suggestion to Cyberlink through the suggestions facility.

You may want to give us a little bit more information, like: what kind of media files do you have as sources, what settings do you use in PD, what PD update have you done? Can you create a new project with the same files, without the error? And:
can you share the relevant information of your system in a dxdiag file?
Also did you check this forum for possible solutions to the Error Code2?
