1-budget?
2-you building your own?
3-where can you buy from?

If building, this is a great resource:

To answer, the best desktop will be the most expensive

To give you an idea what you could experience in a gaming 4K video of 8:08min processed by PD14 in 7:20mins. Real-time encoding without much effort.

From my experience, these 3 things are important: CPU/GPU/16GB RAM.

•Is 16 Go RAM (or more) much better than 8 Go RAM? Minimum 16GB's. So cheap now days both DDR3 and DDR4. RAM is now $55 for 16GB's.

•Is the DDR4 clock speed (and consequently the motherboard) important? No, don't get hung up on the clock speed. Stick to brand names and you will be fine.

•Is the CPU clock speed very important (here more extra costs)? Your selected i7 6700 will work great. If you want to overclock the CPU, get the "K"...6700K. Without the "K" you can not overclock. (You can but changes to BIOS for serious overclockers)

•Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 or 970? (Many PC offers with such alternatives). Watch pricing on the 970. I am seeing pricing at $279 for 970's. The new Nvidia 1080/1070 come out in 2 weeks. You might be able to get a 970 for $200 in the next month or 2. Of the 2, go with 970 and the price will go down. I am seeing 980 for $399 today and expect that price to go down in month or 2. I bought my 4GB 980 in Nov 14 at $579

testing back in Feb/March

You need to upgrade your video card or a new system.

750 is not on this list

I only upload to youtube with my youtube log in account.

No middle man (PD14)

I just finished a 2.6GB youtube upload at my max upload speed from my ISP.
select your video quality in "preferences"
I don't have any issues uploading 4K gaming video's to youtube.

What are your full system specs? Nothing was mentioned.

what are you uploading, format?
Quote: There should be no copy protection, its an open source software which is free. "as in beer"

I would understand if there were problems with the video playing after it was captured, but the video plays fine when its imported. It also plays fine in VLC media player as well as in Windows Media Player.

Its not until I drop the video into the timeline and play it from the timeline as well as after I "produce" the edited version where I start to get the choppy-ness.

If the video were choppy before the capture was even performed I'd be investigating the capture aspect.

what I downloaded was your screen capture withing PD14. Can you upload your actual "media file" for download?
"good 'gaming laptop"
What is a good gaming laptop? Have any idea your full system specs?

"I cannot choose to use GTX960M for PD14 in the Nividia settings"

This is the third topic of not getting the video card to be enabled in Powerdirector 14 I have read recently. Read here:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/48283.page
Could be a laptop that is "sharing" the 8GB's. If true, could be the issue with available information
Quote: Can you share a short clip and the associated project file?
I would like to give it a go too, I can't believe is normal to take so long...

The CPU being lower than 100% it means that the GPU is used in that time - you can monitor that with GPU-Z. In my experience Corel doesn't use the GPU (that's why you saw 100% all the time).

PS: "WeTransfer" can share files up to 2GB for free.

Up to the original owner if you would like to share your file. I would also like to give it a go on my system.

If not, I completely understand
Quote: kmjk333,
Thanks for the info on Bandicam. I hope that both companies work on making it easier to record with the PD14 video recorder inside Wars of Napoleon. I’ll have to look at Bandicam but am unlikely to purchase yet another recorder. Actually I now remember using the free bandicam and not liking it one bit because of watermark and ten minute limit.

yes, you actually have to buy it
My only comment is I use BandiCam

"◾You can record 4K Ultra HD video at resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 in size."

"Followed the GPU steps"
And what steps did you do?
If the focus is "game play"? Why not a desktop?

YOu have a 940M video card. And this came up in the thread you should read:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/48283.page

1-have you enabled your 940M on your laptop and not use the integrated video?
2-have you enabled your 940M with PD14 and checked off the hardware selections in both preference and "produce' to fully use this 940M?

With Barry's link, in terms of resolution, the 940M beats the integrated video
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=3284&gid2=2802&compare=intel-hd-graphics-530-mobile-vs-geforce-940m-2gb

If you enable the 940M in PD14, it puts the workload on your video card and not so much your processor. I would bet your 95% CPU usage would go way down. CPU usage may tell me PD14 is using only the integrated video and not your 940M

It terms of high end hardware, a top notch video card will make PD14 run smooth and take pressure off the CPU for gaming. 16GB RAM is right on.

I would like to know if you have done everything to make your 940m work with PD14 before you switch laptops.

Quote: cpu speed is the most important factor.
With high end hardware for both GPU and CPU, GPU does the workload with proper settings as it pertains to game video. I think high end video card works well with PD14. Second highest consideration would be the CPU. Just my thoughts
Quote: You won't regret getting it for 4K work. It's painless, and makes timeline work so simple.

Bring back Opto!!!

Shadowman? What software is this for 4k work?
Quote: Hi kmjk333
After settings that are stable for the graphics card as I am currently having my pc crash a lot with this card. The card is also failing benchmark testing. By failing I mean my pc crashes.
So just after settings (not overclocking) for this card to make it stable. Then I can look at settings within PD14.

My apologies because I certainly was not clear on this.
Cheers
Brendan
I see. Yes, better find out why system is crashing, good luck.

Check RAM with mem test

CHeck power supply
"Settings would be based on your output file. What are you trying to accomplish? Movie, gaming, disk, Photo's?"

Did I miss this max?
ChristopherDeanHoward,
After reading and posting in this thread along with another thread of 5 hours or encoding, I thought, can my system get pushed to the limits?

So for fun. Only fun, of course....I recorded with BandiCam a Fallout 4 game video at 4K resolution. About 52 min project in total of which 36 of those mins were the gaming video.

Bandicam (game recorder) is set to MP4, so the compressed final output raw file was a massive +45.5GB !! Can PD14 handle this, or can my hardware handle the entire process from beginning to end? When will I crash?

No crash, no locking up my system, no errors, 4K results, nothing that is out of the norm. I am surprised and very impressed with PowerDirector 14. Just wow!

13.1GB "produced file" in 1:28 hours. To me this is just plain fast and effective. My hardware has not reached its limits with PD14.

I did this test just for fun. In the future to try and crash my system using PD14 is just silly. I will never have a project with a 45GB file.

Now I need to clean up some hard drive space Thanks for listening.

"What I would like to know is what drivers and settings people have found to be the most stable/best for running PD14 with this graphics card."

Settings would be based on your output file. What are you trying to accomplish? Movie, gaming, disk, Photo's?

970 will kill PD14 with good CPU and minimum 16GB RAM.

What are your specs? I really dont like downloading unknown file, sorry. Can you post here your specs?

>Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library---------------------------Runtime Error

From your prior thread, have you updated Visual C++ both 32 and 64bit to latest. 2013, but I think win10 is now 2015. Not sure
I looked at the video and it really is not anything special. Random video in middle with left and right border.

Almost like a picture in picture. I don't know the answer, but it seems like it would work. But someone that has more experience should chime in
Quote: KMJK333 THANK YOU THANK YOU! I spoke to HP and they walked me through the easy step of changing my G card to
cause my computer to automatically use it!

Good news, now the editing will be fun Let us know if all is well.

These options should now be available

"1-open PD14, select "set user preference" go to "hardware acceleration" check off the 2 options on the right. click ok.

2-When you "produce", on the tabs (only the tab you use for this project)...2D, 3D etc, check off at the bottom "hardware video encoder" "
"60 minutes full HD to DVD file takes almost 5 hours."

Wow, Barry, ...........
