After a fresh Windows installation, I had to reinstall all Cyberlink software and packages through the Cyberlink Application Manager (CAM).
I have some remarks and suggestions (that I have submitted to CL separately too). Maybe the forum members have the same observations or more to add:

  • In general, the CAM works fine. It knows what software the user is entitled to download, both software and packages, even the (much) older versions of the software and suites.

  • The downloading and installation also go well in general. But as soon as there is an issue (any kind including network congestion, blockades with installations, long queues), the CAM information and the CAM interface is (far) less clear, hence cumbersome to work with.

  • If the user selects multiple packages (say more than 2) to download and install, packages (obviously) of different sizes, the interface is not very friendly is showing any progress. The user has to scroll through the available entries to search for any downloading activity and in the end, it is either waiting long enough and assuming that CAM is ready, or keep monitoring to see where CAM shows activities.

  • If the selection is to show not installed, then the installed pack disappears from the list after installation. This is of course precisely according to the selection, but one would want to get some signal that the installation has happened (and ended without errors)

  • The solution is: the user to select only 1 or 2 to download and install at the time. And monitor to see whether they are finished, so that CAM can be closed, or a subsequent selection can happen. Or

  • Cyberlink to provide some sort of handy overview of the status, progress and successful installation of the selected software.

I guess that the latter would be the good and nice-to-have solution for first time users and for all others who need to install a series of software and packs.
Thanks OptoData!

It appears that the 12 pack, is suitable and only applicable for PD version 12. It also appears that (most of) the 12 pack stuff is available through other packs that came with later versions.

I recon that CL in their Application Manager makes ALL packs available that the user is entitled to. Which in itself is of course a good thing! It is irrespective whether the pack will work with specific versions.

So good to share that here and maybe also good for Cyberlink to take note and see whether a suitable warning/message can be added to the packages listed.

After using the CAM extensively, because of a fresh windows installation, I have some other observations on the CAM, that I will share in another topic and submit to CL separately.

Thanks again for your help!
Hardly delay is in terms of 100-500 ms (I have not measured that).
a quick look at your DXDiag file:

  • the DirectX database is old, I use 1.3.5

  • there may be a newer NVIDIA driver for you (do you have multiple GPU cards?)

  • I see that the Cyberlink software including PD has crashed or aborted a number of times. (There is a newer version of PD available, than you use/reported).

  • Maybe "play" a bit with the screen settings (why 125%?) and the PD preview settings (maybe HD is toohigh for your screen resolution). Etc.

No doubt others in the forum have more clever suggestions wrt your machine.
It may be the format of the clip or it may be some settings you use.; and it may be the hardware or drivers or any combination?
On the 4K60 footage I have there is hardly any delay when changing such settings.
I have the preview set at full HD and I have enabled the creation of shadow files, which both help a bit with the speed of editing.

Maybe share some details, like your PD settings and information on the clip and on your PC (dxdiag file)?
OK. I see that you use the Dutch language. Where I said "file" use bestand, the top left menu and look for capture, or some Dutch translation of that?
Thanks for your reaction.
I have done a fresh Windows 11 installation and thus need to reinstall everything.
If you don't, I expect the pack came with one of my earlier versions, 12? Which version Cyberlink still recognizes as one I own. (I also see previous suites I obtained).
I will check whether I have the pack stored somewhere in a backup folder and use that and, indeed contact support.
maybe this pack has been superseded by an other....
regards!
Using the CAM.
Did try to install it multiple times.
Installation denied, the MD5 check does not pass.
Have installed other smaller packages, and they work.
The large onces like the above but also the pack 12 Premium will not install.

Did even reinstall the Application manager. but nothing helps.

Running Windows 11, which is update like all drivers etc.

Any suggestions?
In PD 20 Capture can be found in the file menu.

Yes thanks, indeed, that was version 20.3.2701 that was available since 10 March I believe. I was interested in the changes for 2714 too, available since 16 March according to my version of CAM. :
I have duly downloaded en installed the latest version. But I have no idea what has changed?

May I suggest Cyberlink that you at least give a brief note of what the update entails?
Before I would distrust Windows, I would uninstall and reinstall the Application Manager itself. Before restarting it I would also look at prowerDirector 365 to see whether windows says it is installed. If so, uninstall it, if not, then check the files in program files folder and delete the power director folder. Then restart CAM.
In the mask designer: select all masks (left top of the screen), and scroll to the top of the masks available. At the top left you will see a blue cross, which deletes the mask the has been selected in the screen right.
As you said it is simple, but whether it is intuitive?

Dont understand your second remark.
Thanks!
Just received this version.
Would be interested to learn what has changed?!!
Thanks
I assume that the duration of the fade in and fade outs of the audio are all the same.

If there are many of the clips, here is what you can do:

a) unlink video and audio for all clips
b) select the first audio clip and make the fade in and fade out how it is suppoed to be.
c) with the audioclip selected do copy keyframe attributes
d) select all audio clips that should have the same fade in and fade out.
e) paste the keyframes to all selected.

It worked when I tested this. But a bit more testing learned that

  • there is no need to unlink the video and audio, unless you want to prevent the video keyframes from being copied over too

  • this trick only works for clips that have the same length. Shorter clips only the fade in will be copied. Longer clips the fade out is applied at the keyframes of the original audioclip. So it does not work perfectly. Sorry.

Maybe point us to (some) examples of what it is you are after. That helps getting a picture of what we what it is we cshould help you with:

Thank you both for your help, I dont understand why this cannot be fixed by PD as it is too much hassel having to go into quicktime. If filmora can do it without quicktime. I would hate to have to leave PD because of this problem but its looking that way.

In this forum nobody has insight why. Suggest that you put forward a suggestion to Cyberlink using: Rate us & provide suggestions, in the file menu.
Quote I have a lot of 4K mp4 files for a project. When I try to import these files, nothing happens. In the meantime, the shadow-file generating process is stalling.

Attached please find my DxDiag file.

No DxDiag file?
Quote Hi,

My PowerDirector 365 keeps freezing in every few seconds (5-10 secs), then works fine and repeat same think. Does anyone how to fix it?

In advance thank you

Michael

It helps when you explain what it is PD does of you with PD when it freezes. What may happen when editing high quality video clips is that the PC and/or the video scard are not able to keep up because of the many bits it has to process. This will be very noticeable when e.g. you change a lot to color and other settings, add FX and transitions and many layers of clips on top of each other.

PD has some options to mitigate the frezing a bit: including

  • change the preview quality settings, set them a bit lower until PD shows a smooth picture

  • in preference general enable the shadow file creation, (and if you have that on maybe to a lower wuality still

  • Maybe it is the auto save option in projects, if you have a large project that is saved every 2 minutes then that might be a reason for PD to stall its work to get everything on disk.

Lowering the preview quality settings will also help when you have issus when doing multicam editing
In some cases it is good to reder the preview of part of the timeline, this will help you see the results of complexer editing things as mentioned above and shows waht the produced results may look like.

An as mentioned by others, it may very well be the PC that is not able to cope with what you want to do. You see that there are many options and many causes, so let us know when PD starts freezing.
You write that you have PowerDirector 365. That is the subscription version to PowerDirector. None of the other software is included (except the Screen Recorder).
If you need AudioDirector, you either need to subscribe to the 365 version of AudioDirector or buy the perpetual version, or....
you can take a subscription to the Director Suite (365) which inlcudes the Audio Director, Color and Photo Director.
As a general policy I would recommend to briefly indicate of the changes in the newest version. It would be informative and perhaps even reassuring for the users, and beneficial for Cyberlink, that can be sure that user will test the changes and report when anything is broken.
