Recently, I received the same kind of reaction on a problem I called out. The support team went as far as proposing to me to reset Windows. It may come from a standard reaction template.
I think is may also have to do with the support person who reacts. I also had very prompt and good reactions from support.
Indeed it is a member to member, user to user forum. I still think that Cyberlink should read what is being written here. Because it will give the company an idea of what their (!) users want and like and what they may have problems with.
They also should realize that potential customers read discussions on the forum too. And the decide to buy or not depending on the sentiments expressed by the members to other members.
Having said that: Wysdom? What is your current status? Is PD working, and if not, is there something to share so that we can help or come with suggestions?

I have just tested this and in my 365 subscription version this all works as expected.
My opening screen is different from the one you show. My version shows a number of popular templates and gives me the choice between the timeline editor and the slideshow creator, and ... a tick box for: always enter full mode.
When I don't tick that, I get the opening screen when opening next time.
When I do tick I don't get he opneing screen but the full video edit mode as expected.
It may be that what you see normal behavior for version 20. If not, then I suggest that you contact CL support to notify them about this problem.

In a test just now, I received the “merge” message wan hen I opened a project to load, whilst there is media in the media-room.
What I see is that you can tick a box with: don’t show this again. It might be that you have ticket this box and that therefore the message does not appear anymore? In the preferences behind the “confirmation” tab, you can press a reset button that would undo all the do not show this anymore ticked. Let us know whether that solved your problem.

Not very clear what happened in your system. It is not a behavior I recognize.
I would uninstall and reinstall it again and maybe even delete and/or forget the preferences so that these can be set to default too. It may be that these settings also point to a folder that is not available. However in that case, I would expect that you have done this in the two programs and have remembered....

Let us know which version of PowerDirector you have. PD does not automatically download any media files from anywhere as far as I know. Please share what you see happening....
You have to select input media from either a folder (then it DOES automatically input all media from that selected folder into your media room, or specific media files. But always and only when you select input....
The only thing PD downloads automatically the first time, (and it scans specific folders after you open PD a next time) are the effects and transitions and titles etc, that are potentially available to you to download... But such download is done when you have the newest version 20 and a 365 subscription. Hence the version question.

Hmmm. If you are after copying attributes from one clip to another, did you try the copy attributes?
https://help.cyberlink.com/stat/help/powerdirector/20/win/enu/08_12_00_utilizing_keyframes_o.html
Many but not all attributes are transferred from the one to one or more others at the same time....

That is a good observation, Mohitk!
Of course you can always delete the clip from track 2 (from you example) and drag the same from the media room onto the clip in track 1, but that is two steps.
Maybe put forward a suggestion to CL to make this a 1-step thing?

|
I am glad that it works!

If you look here https://help.cyberlink.com/stat/help/powerdirector/20/win/enu/01_01_02_whats_different.html
and look for Download Content Pack Templates and Effects within PowerDirector you will see that for each of the effects that can be downloaded there is a small down arrow.
(You can skip the "updates to 20.8", which version has not been released at the moment of this writing )
So it is not the complete pack that can be downloaded (at once), but each of the effects individually.

All other effects, titles, etc are still loading? Any custom-made transitions that may cause the problem?
Normally I would point to the project aspect ratios (16x9, 1x1 etc.) because the availability of titles, particles etc. But (I my case at least) the number of transitions stays the same for all ratios…
Next to restarting the computer I would also look for other “obvious” causes:
- Older 365 version? During the last few versions, the loading of effects, transitions etc. had been given a different approach, this caused effects etc to load very slow. Maybe -if you have not fully updated PD, to load not at all? I would uninstall PD completely and reinstall it again using the application manager.
- before doing so, I would also make sure that any and all of my old effects, titles and transitions (custom made) were temporarily moved aside (look in the documents CyberLink 20.0 version folder). This just to make sure that none of the custom-made effects stops PD from loading all. Put these back in the original folder, after you ahve closed PD and before you start it up again...
- looking at drivers, are they all up to date? It is not likely I would think that the not loading of transitions is caused by drives out of date….
- if that all does not help the remaining options are to share your DXDiag file with us here (you never know what there is to find), and to report the problem to CL support.

I have replayed the steps as you describe. I am able to close the window.
Just to play it save: upon opening the Download Media screen, Maximize it. During and after download there will messages that you might have to respond to. When not full size window it may be that you dont see that a message is waiting for respons, during which..... the Download Media screen cannot be closed...
If have tested this with a smaller screen, the screen has downsizing limits, and all messages are displayed fine here...
The last resort is to uninstall and reinstall PD
Hope this helps. If not please let use know whether you work with the latest versions, and maybe show a short screen-recording?

If it is ONLY two clips you want to work with, it may be easier to just put the second clip after the first on the timeline, and find an appropriate transition or -if you want part of the first clip to remain visible, use the pip designer to move clip 2 in over (part of ) the first clip. If you use borders, you can make it look like collage is being used.
This would even be possible with more than twe clips, but become more time consuming to make it right, but you have more controle to get precisely what you need.

It is (from a distance) not so easy to say what has gone wrong. It may very well be that your PCMover-software has taken settings from the old system that are not valid anymore. It may be (hardware) drivers or driver settings from the old system, used by the software are not available or viable anymore, or has had upgrades that should be used. It may also be as “simple” as the lack of the right codex software on your new system (which may be why PD complains about any vildeo clip you insert) etc. etc. and.... There is in principle much more programs need than a place somewhere on a disk and a folder. With the installation process there might be specific register settings, environment setting, supporting software (like Visual C libraries) included. Even when de PCMover has discovered all links, it may still be that something is amiss in the new system.... It would think that moving to a brand-new computer and operating system, it would also be the moment to do a clean start and make sure that the system is set as it is meant to be. You can expect the system to run optimally as does the freshly install software.
The best but more rigorously and better approach would be to make sure that the old disks are safe and then do a complete reinstall of your windows system, and then use the saved document and other folders from the old disks to make them available on your new system. Reinstalling all software would be the next step. Of course, this only works if you have the installation files and registration codes etc. For Cyberlink it is easy: you simply use the Application Manager which does all the work for you.
But as said if a complete reset is not possible, I would go for a fresh installation of PowerDirector as mentioned above. Using the old disks to make sure that all your old PowerDirector file are copied to the new system (look for \user\documents\cyberlink\powerdirector. In that folder there might a number of folders with version numbers of the passed owned versions. Each of these folders may contain a number of your saved titles, particles and other stuff. It is best to have these in place before you freshly install the CyberLink programs.

It's good to know how best to restart PD if it's stopped prematurely, but as Bernd writes, it's better to figure out what's going on. We are happy to look along to find the cause. For example, is it possible to send a DXDiag file, which we can see if something is wrong with your system?
Another suggestion is to uninstall PowerDirector once and then reinstall it with the application manager? It is (also says Bernd) easy to understand when exactly the program stops. Is that with a certain action or, for example, during production? Have you tried to turn the hardware acceleration on or off in the preferences? Maybe it's certain types of videos that you're trying to edit. In short, we like to play a little detective with you to make sure that the program just works as it should.

Thank you for your message. Can you tell me what version I would need?
Or if I want to create a custom profile for 4K at 60fps, what Mbps should I choose?
Thank you
non of the PD versions supports higher than 4K.
the Mbps depends on the codec used and the purpose, usage, platform. Suggest that you have a look at what YouTube defines.

In my system they are stored in:
"C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Cache Files 01\video\"
They are stored without the extension.

It is not completely clear what is happening with your clips. But maybe this helps:
Please note that the clip count that shows in under your preview screen is that of the clip not of the whole video. (You can change that by untagging in the edit preferences: Switch to movie mode .......)
And the “seconds” shown in PD are frames not seconds.
The moving of the handles and cutting has influence on how (when) the zoom behaves in the clip. What I saw was: I started a zoom at precisely 2 sec into the clip and ending it at precisely 3 sec. Then I cut of precisely the 1st sec of the clip. The zoom started at 1 sec and 47 frames into the clip and ended at 2 sec and 46 frames. Same result when making the clip shorter by moving the handle. This means that the zoom parameters or keyframes stay (almost) the same (start the zoom 2 sec after the start of the clip) and these do not move along with the cutting. I can understand why that is. It is at least something to keep in mind. I have learned from this that better adjust the length of the clip before applying any zooming.
Maybe this helps you discovering what happened with yor video? If not then you might consider sharing a recording of what it is you do?
(What I don’t understand is WHY the zoom started and ended 3 frames earlier than originally defined (my project has 50 frame per second).)

In the previous version I also sometimes saw weird things happening in the timeline. Do you have the latest version? Can you show us (screenrecording) what is happening?

8K is not supprted by PD 365. The max is 4096x3072

I would use a USB cable or the the SD/Memory card reader rather than BT.
Both on my Smart Phone (iPhone) and on my PC I have DROPBOX installed. (I know this works for Mac too. It should work for Android too?). Once a day or as frequent as necessary I open the Dropbox app on my phone. It automatically recognizes which photos and videos have not been uploaded yet and uploads those to the Camera uploads folder. All I have to do when the new batch of media files arrives on the PC is put them in my media archive folders, this keeps the Dropbox folders as empty as possible (I use the free version which allows 2Gb max and 3 devices to sync with.) As long as the size of the files are average this works fast and well. For the larger files, or when I am in hurry, I use USB.
