No Audio - SOLVED
[Post New]
I am just starting my first simple project, but I can't seem to get audio to play.

When I play a clip from the library or the timeline, I get no audio. The volume control icon under the play window is crossed out, so it looks like it's muted somehow. The clip has audio and it's ticked to be enabled. I am in realtime preview mode.

I'm sure I've missed something. Grateful for any suggestions!

Have you cheked Windows to make sure that the correct playback device is selected and that the volume level is high enough?

Thanks for the quick response. The clips play just fine on the same PC, with audio, in Windows Media Player and VLC.

I have tried .mov clips from my iPhone and .mp4 clips from my Panasonic LX100. No audio with either type in PD16.

In timeline mode, go to preferences, and then general. For audio, you have at least 2 options. Try changing one for another. I have only 2.0 (stereo) but I have both stereo and 5.1 options. I get no audio if 5.1 is selected. .

I tried both to no avail.

But, then I noticed the menu item Playback > Mute/Mute Off. I selected it and Voila! I can hear everything. I also noticed that it uncrossed the speaker icon below the playback window. It's a pity that clicking on that icon doesn't mute/unmute the sound.

Thanks.

I don't know how to mark my solution as the best answer frown

My answers don't have a "This answered my question" option on them.

I also discovered that if you click on the speaker icon, below the volume slider, the speaker icon appears again and clicking on that does indeed mute/unmute the audio.

Thanks again, Jim
