2. I heard about the news that CyberLink will release the patch for SONY bundled PowerDVD version.

1. Try to uninstall PowerDVD 9.
2. Verify all PowerDVD registry keys have been removed.

3. Install MSI 4.5.
4. Restart computer. Install PowerDVD 9 again.

You can update your graphics chip driver.
Probably the PowerDVD cannot the detect the driver support the DXVA of some video steam format.

PS: The step to generate the Dxdiag.txt
1. Start --> All Programs --> Accessories -->Run (Windows Vista)
2. Type in DXDIAG and press Enter or click OK, this will open the DirectX diagnostic tool.
3. Click on the Save All Information Button (save this file to your windows desktop and name it dxdiag).

You need the software to convert these VHS tapes to MPEG-2 format. (Or others).
Then use PowerDirector or other video editing softwares to create the DVD
