PowerDVD 9 Deluxe - cannot see images/video

I can hear what I'm watching, but cannot see the avi file I want to watch. I never experienced this problem with older versions of PowerDVD. I could play AVI, DivX, etc.

I already have the free Divx Codec installed.

I am currently running Windows Vista 32 bit, Home Premium SP 1, and all of my other media players work fine with the avi files, etc.

HELP?

This seems to be a recurring problem with PowerDVD. I had the same problem. In fact, it has been a problem from day one after buying CyberLink applications. I first bought the updrade version of PowerDVD9 Ultra, but I had problems with divx and avi files, have audio but no video. So I submitted problem to customer service. Their solution was to have me download another build of the application. This did not resolve the video issue, so I bought the full version of PowerDVD9 Ultra, this did not resolve the video issue. So again, I submitted the problem to customer service, no solution. So I submitted, the problem to FORUM, the problem was resolved immediately by Robinson (see http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/6032.page. )

Now I have problems with CyberLink trying to charge me for duplicate orders that I did not place. I am now afraid to buy any applications from CyberLink. I’ll go back to Nero.

its more likely a problem with DivX, as a codec its utter garbage.

use Xvid instead. Not had a problem playing avi's at all in PDVD9

I have both Xvid and DivX codecs installed on my PC. Still can't see the video in PowerDVD 9, but can hear it. I thank you for the suggestion. This appears to be a problem with the updated programs that the older ones didn't have.

Daisy mentioned a bug. But I sure wish there was a real fix for it. Or I need to get my money back. I thank you for your feedback.

I just purchased and installed PowerDVD 9 Ultra. I cannot get it to work. I have BD version 1.0 still installed and it will work ok. I have tried starting 9 as administrator and it starts to load the disk from the Buffalo 8x Blu-ray drive then after about 40% it disappears. I am seriously considering contacting paypal and having them reverse the charge. I would rather have a working program.

I am also downloading my Blu-ray movies to a hard drive with AnyDVD like I have been doing for several months, then using Clone DVD Virtual Drive to mount the image, I was using the Cyberlink software package that came with my Buffalo drive (I believe the Power DVD is version 7.3 Ultra) I double click on the Blu-ray file on my hard drive and the version 7.3 software loads and plays the movie fine.

I started looking online in the forums and find that many people are having the same problem with this software. I would appreciate a solution.

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate, 4GB RAM, a Radeon HD2400 PCIe Video card with 512MB of ram on it with HDMI out and I just updated the ATI Catalyst drivers to 2/25/2009 version, Buffalo 8X Blu-ray external drive using an eSATA cable.

Please help me fix this problem.

I AM ALSO GETTING MULTIPLE THREAT WARNINGS FROM SPYWARE DOCTOR RELATED TO SEVERAL OF THE CYBERLINK FILES.
This is the threat shown.

Open c:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD9\CLDShowX.ini (or where you installed the application)

change

8652BB68-F961-4027-9908-5652EBC2D3A9=CLSID_DIVXDECODER ;DivxDec

to

//8652BB68-F961-4027-9908-5652EBC2D3A9=CLSID_DIVXDECODER ;DivxDec

Well that did the trick - wow thanks. The quality of the caps isn't as good as what it used to do - but it works. And I can see the avi file.

I really thank you for your help!

Its making use of either the Xvid or DivX codec now, you can change the quality from their related config tools.
