I wouldn't assume or think that at all, nor did PDM say anything about perpetual update 2721 in your post. Basically 365 update 3.2727 had bug fixes per CL/PDM, absolutely no details to know if it might affect an editor, but as you indicate, you didn't want those details anyhow.
Jeff
Totally correct, Jeff. I assumed that the changes for the patch 21 2721 would be the same as those for 365 2727. Or would they keep those versions separate....? If the message is: some bugs, then that is fine. If they have fixed bugs that have been discussed in this forum, and those that have been passed on as a service request, then I would assume (again) that CL would inform its customers as is to be expected.

They've updated the What's New page, you get some fonts, music, Easter stickers, and some children's stickers for your editing pleasure.
Warry's question also addressed, just some fixes.
Jeff
Assuming that 21 patch v2721 has the same changes as the 365 version 2727

Thanks!
I will contact, not so much to hear of all the details of these fixes, but to suggest again to in future at least mention what the purpose of releasing a new version is: new features and functions, or the fixing of bugs discussed here or handed as a service request, etc. Cyberlink should not leave its customers in the dark, should it?

Did you have look in the Effects Tab of the Application Manager?
There is a (small) chance that there are a number of the packs that contain Express Projects too?
I see a number in my overview ready to download, but I did have the older versions too.
If not, then I would suggest CL to add these packages in the AM for every 365 subscriber
A number can be found here, did you check?

In the preferences / the General tab, a tick box has been added: Show project library windows when PowerDirector launches.

How do I upload photos to DirectorZone?
I cannot find videos or instructions anywhere.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Photos can be shared into the Directorzone using PhotoDirector: Files, share to....... (I have not found a similar function in PD for photos).
In addition, a number of "templates" can be uploaded to de DirectorZone from PD directly. Look in the PD manual for Share and you will find the a.o. title templates, masks and the like can be uploaded. PD calls that SHARING too.

I have seen an update to version 3.2727.0
It would be good to learn WHAT the changes are in this version?
Thanks!
|

In the PD preferences you will find behind the general tab the option: At start up: Show project library.
If you tick the box, you will see the PD startup screen with your latest projects etc. If you untick the box, PD will go directly into full edit/timeline mode. I think that is what you want?

I am trying to burn a blu ray disc and it is taking over 3 hours is this right or am I doing something wrong?
It is good to understand WHAT is taking so long? The " burning" of a disk consists of 2 (main) parts)
1) the creation of the files for the disk, this involves rendering into the right format (that is accepted by disk equipment). This rendering will happen either because the format of one or more files you want to put on disk is not of the right format, and/or because the total size of the files is too large to be contained on the disk (adheres to the fit to disk option). This part 1 can take a lot of time, depending on the work that has to be done and the amount of video files involved.
2) the other part of the burning is the actual burning... the prepared files will be written on the disk. The duration of this part depends on the size of the files to be written, the size of the disk (you say Blu-ray, so 25gb or 50gb or even larger), and... the speed of writing, which speed depends on the type of disk used and the speed of your disk burning device and the performance of your system. I would say that if this second part takes longer than say 30-45 minutes (full disk), something is wrong there.
But let us know which of the parts take so long?
When I have to make a disk, I usually use PD to prepare the files, and use different burning software.

That was my thinking too. It is running great and has great speed but I'm just waiting for somthing else to go wrong. I ordered one with Win 10 Pro and a large SSD and a lot of Ram. It is a Lenovo desktop.
What is your thinking on Win 11?
Win 11 is stable now, can recommend it, but keep in mind that it may need time to get used to the changes compared to Win10, many under the hood, but if you are "only" using it, you should be fine. Take some time to find out how things work. also take time to change settings to tailor it to your needs.
Also take your time to look at the privacy and security settings, as MS by default gets a lot, and likely too much data of your system usage. I usually say NO to all their questions in this area.
And PD works fine with Win 11 too.

All these suggestions are beyond my pay grade. I have been wanting to replace this PC and now is the time. Thanks ever so much for your help.
That may be a good decision, the current PC is a bit old, but I was working with your..... great succes last fall....

To start with the obvious
There may be something worng wirh the module MSVCR110.dll which is part of Visual c++ I would recommend reinstalling Visual c++ frun time library from the microsoft site.
But I would start checking your windows installation, since there are other modules that seem to cause problems too. In terminal mode use the DISM and SFC programs to check and fix Windows (see https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/20/46481.page#241232 for details).
After that re check whether there are any windows updates available?

Tell us a little bit more:
- is it you first version, or did you upgrade?
- which version do you have
- which version of windows (?) do you have
- When un installing did you say NO to the questions: delete all "personal" information? (This makes the next install a clean installation)
Otherwise please send us your DXDiag.txt file, so that we can have a look at what may be wrong with the system...

Menus are usually meant for DVDs en Blu-ray disks, to allow the user to easily select parts of the presented video, since DVD/Blu-ray players may have limited options to get to the right point in a video; making use of menus and chapters, but also sound tracks, sub-titles, additional material, leaders and so on.
The software on PCs for showing videos from disk or USB(-stick), usually have the option to move the slide bar in order to a point in the video or play parts of a video etc. So in many cases, depending on the audience and usage it makes less sense to apply menus on disk and USB-stick.
If you want to apply a menu for your production that resides on disk, you also need software that is able to handle these menu (e.g. VLC, CL PowerDVD, etc.). To mimic playing a disk you commonly use (and need to produce) an ISO-file that contains the complete DVD or Blu-ray. PD can burn disks, and it is also possible to create/write an ISO-file to disk. (This ISO-file can also be burned to disk at a later moment, using separate burning software.)
So to answer your questions:
Because of the intended usage of menus, PD has only connected menus to the production of disks.
It is possible to use a menu without burning it to a disk, using the option to write to an ISO-file as mentioned. Using the resulting ISO-file with software that can (dis)play DVD and Blu-ray disks, enables you to use menus without burning and using a disk.
Hope that this helps.

I agree that the upgrades are sometimes very hard. This is also because CL tried to keep the software downwards compatible, so that we can use custom titles (etc.) from previous versions. My system was also struggling with the upgrades, and I had to reinstall PD a number of times to get it right, when moving to a new computer.
CL saves the custom titles (etc.) in documents, so I made sure that I restored a copy of these in the proper place for the installation program to find them, BEFORE I installed the CL suite.
But, PD also maintains some sort of inventory of the custom and other titles. As you showed the titles and other items are stored in many places, so the challenge for PD is to keep track of them AND make sure that at program start they are available in reasonable time (which time has improved but is not always fast enough).
Apparently this database is maintained and updated triggered by files or folders and their date-time stamps, or the like. What I have found out is, that the following steps helped me getting the custom titles to correctly “display” again:
- Make a copy of all the Cyberlink folders in your documents folder.
- Uninstall PD and say Yes to delete all user information (or words to that effect).
- Before you (re- )install or upgrade PD, make sure that the folders of all previous versions of PD are in the proper place in the documents folder.
- But also make sure that the 21 folder (which is the number of the version to be installed) is not present. Put it aside allowing the installation software to create this folder.
- After installation start the program and let it take its time to get all the items listed in the various rooms. Close the program and move the set aside titles you may have from version 21 into the documents folder next to the folders of previous versions. Then restart PD again, and (in my case) all custom titles (etc.) were available again.
It worked for me, hope this works for you too.

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Cache Files nn\
To use the you have to rename to file to have the proper extension, like .mp4 en .jpg
However, the files may not be used in this fashion according to the terms and conditions.

There are some good mass uninstall programs available. Moving to a new PC -I guess- involves more than uninstalling Cyberlink software alone?
I assume you work with Windows?
A bit of a reluctance to recommend software here, but I have good experiences with WingetUI. It uninstalls software in one go. It can also used to update or install softwarepackages It uses MS WINGET, which can also be run manually from the commandline.
BUT... there are others out there too.
Uninstalling still takes time, but at least with less manual work.

Thanks for the tip, Optodata. It works for me.
Only hope that it does not discourages Cyberlink to fix bugs in their software. A quick scan in this forum will tells them precisely what is hindering their customers and what can be improved for them. There is some low hanging fruit there too!

Although I am sure that this has been done before, but maybe not with PD version 21.1.2401.0, I have done some tests with snapshots with some options available.
I have done the tests both with NTSC and PAL set in the preferences, as they appeared to show a small difference. And I have taken the shots with the various preview quality display settings. In addition I have taken a snapshot from the clip in the media room (no clip in the timeline), and I have produced the clip both NTSC and PAL with AVC 4K quality and taken a snapshot from the produced clip with VLC.
Next to the PNG setting in preferences as Optodata suggested, I have taken one shot in JPG for comparison.
Just to be sure I have also taken a shot with a larger preview by making the timeline and the media room smaller. But there was no difference in the results.
I have taken all shots from the Skateboard 02 . mp4 file (1920:1080) from the sample library 04:15 into the clip. See the results below.
A conclusion may be that a snapshot taken by PD 21.1 with preview setting UHD and PGN as format might give the best results given the amount of bytes used.

The above produced mp4 video is acv instead of hevc or h.265 encoding. Maybe a clean install of the studio driver may make a difference. I never had to do this on my systems yet.
Can you tell me how you see the difference? ( I selected HEVC. The request was btw HEVC or ACV.)
I have tested with both the Game and the studio driver.
Also tested with both the Fast Video rendering on and off.
I see no problems with the transition rendering.
Thanks
