Nothing wrong with your computer by the looks of it as Jeff already wrote.
I also used to have problems with the speed and performance of PD. At this moment I don’t have any issues with the current PD version.
The things you mention make it look like your computer is very busy with other things so that it does not have time to do the PD work. Your screenshot indicates that you have downloaded all these red drawings already. When selecting they should show in the preview screen and move. Do they?
I went to a number of checks that may be obvious, and some -I am the first to admit this- should not be necessary to check, but I
would certainly give it a try:
Check your windows installation with
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
SFC /scannow
Update your WIFI driver, or at least check it out: there seems to be one more recent with the critical qualification.
Are there any other drivers that should be updated?
You can try to reboot in safe mode and see what happens when you run PD.
Check your virus software if you have any installed besides the “standard” windows security
If you have other virus software, does it block or delay PD perhaps?
Look for the ApphangB1 crash, there is some reference on internet that may be related to how you use your pc.
This is also true for the BEX64 crash, look for it and try whether solutions do help you.
The windows indexing service is an application that may be in the way. On faster computers like your you should not really notice that it is running behind the scenes, but if there is a lot to index…. Maybe have a look at what it does index and see whether you can trim the number of folders down?
The other thing that may be in your way is the windows defender blocking specific folders from updating or even accessing. I have
seen this after the installation of a brand new computer and moving user folders into it from a previous computer. The permission of the old computer were copied along and did not match the new computer. Hence a number of applications could not access.
I would certainly also try to see what windows is doing while you have PD open. Try to run the resource monitor and check whether there is any internet activity, maybe related to PD, maybe to other applications that get in the way of PD. (This may also be the case when you don’t have PD running, maybe there some other process hindering you.) Is there something running that is accessing internet all the time, that should not be there?
And the last resort (maybe you have done this already) would be to complete uninstall PD do a reboot and run the installation again. Since PDHanumanSvr.exe is also crashing on you, this may also be a hint that something is wrong with the installation.
Before uninstalling I strongly suggest that you make a backup of your user/documents/CyberLink folder, so that you have a copy of any customized titles etc.
When uninstalling, say yes to deleting all user information (that ensures an installation with none of your old stuff in the way, and... makes it necessary to make a backup).
After uninstalling I suggest that you remove the PowerDirector folder in programs/CyberLink completely. Just to make sure that nothing strange is left behind.
Before re-installing (using the freshly downloaded application manager) I suggest that you reboot.
Maybe you have thought of all this already. And then again maybe this will help.
Hope this helps you in some way. I have been where you are, and know thus from experience that it can be very frustrating.

Probably nothing to do with any of these posts or your support inquiry. If you look at the PDM release notes, it specifically states "improved versions of the following style effects: Magnifier, Edge, Time Stamp, Pencil Sketch." which were four of the ones removed. They obviously had something in the works and the notes also indicate a plan to release more in next release, so why didn't support inform you of that rather than a benign escalated to product team reply?
Jeff
Very likely, yes. Still have to find out what has been improved.

Very happy to report that in the latest version (1 June 2023) 21.5.3001.0 a number of FX features are back and available again.
Good show! Thanks Cyberlink....

Happy to report that I received a reaction from customer support on my request to restore a batch of 'old' fax features:
With reference to your query, we've escalated the suggestion to product team as software development reference.
We thank you for reporting this to us and we appreciate your feedback.
Let's see what comes.

A black title will only stand out when your (background) image is fairly light. You can choose another picture, or another moment in the clip to show the title, or move the text to a spot that is more different to make the text stand out...
Opacity will not help you much, because the picture will become darker, which with a black title does not show.
There are many options to make the title stand out, some examples attached, including: make the ttext of a different color that stands out, give the text a border. or a border and a shadow, or even put the title (if you want to keep the black) with its own white background, either a bit faded or full white.
Have fun!

Try to open the project Iceland via files, open project, and search for the project file called Iceland and open it.
|
|
The screen shot makes it a bit more clear: What we see is that you have inserted a project into another project as Optodata already surmised. That is it itself fine. Exporting will produce both the project and the inserted project clips, as you may have noticed. (But Only when there is something to show before the Iceland project). The first project, since this is the “leading” project, it cannot be deleted.
If you only want the second project, the Iceland clip, then the approach would be (only if indeed you have inserted the Iceland project and have this project saved separately on your disk!),
The steps are:
- You close the current project (which we see on your screen) and start a new project. Or restart PD that will also give you a new project.
- Then OPEN (not insert) the Iceland project, which will in itself be the (only) project, which when exported will become a separate video clip.
What I noticed is that the “x” marks before the inserted project name(s) are misleading. If you tick these crosses it appears that PD is not actually deleting the project, but it expands/fully displays the project in the timeline. If you want to delete an inserted project from your “master” project, then select the project on the timeline and select (with the right mouse button) “remove”. With the standard leave, fill or move question the project is deleted. I wonder why there is an “x” in the project tab.
Your solution (to the "I only need the second project...) would be: make the timeline empty (new project will do that) and open the project Iceland and export that.
Hope this helps.

Please see this discussion:
https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/52392.page
A number of older FX features, including the timestamp have been dropped in the latest PD version(s). There is a work around made available by Optodata, which works fine as a work around, but is obviously not the way the users and Cyberlink (really?) want to go forward. Given that Cyberlink claims NOT to read any of what i in this forum (whereas we think they should) but rather use the Rate us & provide suggestions (behind the File Menu in PD), we suggest that you all use this 'provide suggestions' to make it clear that we DO use a number of these good old FX features.
|

Agreed,
and
Agreed. I have submitted a suggestion to CL. A suggest that all forum participants do the same.

Thanks very much Optodata, this is really fabulous!
If have tried the project and it seems to work OK. However, on my system (no other versions of PD installed at this moment), it does not work (PD stalls after 20%) when opened from Windows by clicking on the project. It does work when the project is opened with PD already running.
Thanks again.
But, let's hope and trust that Cyberlink, somehow encouraged by this conversation, reinstates the missing effects that still seems to work (for now) and in some cases are so dearly missed.
|
|
That should not be too difficult,]. You can use the Pan and Zoom for that, see the example attached.

Thanks for sharing the project with the TS. If have tried it and it works for me. I don't have older PD versions running at the moment.
It is a bit tricky though, it does not work ALL the time.
I have loaded the project, and stripped it from everything besindes the TS and saved a new project. PD sometimes stops/hangs when I try to load the newly saved project. PD keeps hanging at opening this project until I have opened PD with any other recent project. Somehow there is a reset and then the loading the TS project works again.
What I see is that ALL the parameters for the timestamp are included in the project file. Which may lead to the conclusion that the TS works because it operates from all the data in the project file. Likely the same way other effects and their changes (which can be extreme) keep working in the same fashion when the project is reloaded.
It is thus for now (until CL changes something) a workable solution. I have tried to include the TS project in a work in progress project and then copy the TS from the project into an other place in the timeline, which also seems to work.
I'd rather have the original effect back, please Cyberlink.

Previous videos that used this effect still work with it fine, although the actual effect is totally missing; the only evidence I have is that on the timeline.
Now trying to source an alternative, as suggested by other posters here.
If the effect still works on your timeline, would it be possible to transfer it to another project, or even.... to other systems, so that it can be shared with other users?

There was another user, who was looking for the time stamp effect, which appears to be removed from the software. For what it is worth, I have submitted a complaint to Cyberlink saying:
We have seen that a number of (style) Effects have been removed by Cyberlink from the latest version(s) of PD. Somewhere in your licence agreements there will no doubt be something about CL having the right to add and remove parts of their software without any warning, but I think it would behove Cyberlink to improve on your customers support and relation management by improving your communications in general and about changes to (part of) your software in particular.
Even if there is a good reason for removing features of effects etc. then it would be good to warn your users in advance so that they can take action, including saving, not upgrading and looking for alternatives. I bet that a large number of users have wasted their time looking for stuff that was there somewhere last week and not anymore today. That is not how one should behave towards ones customer.

Playing around with the PD import I see the following:
- PD shows and opens the folder from which media was imported a previous time
- PD sets and shows this folder in the preferences/file tab at the top: import folder
- User can set the import folder in the preferences
- The folder screens that opens when PD import is invoked is apparently a true Windows screen, the settings of which are apparently determined and defined at Windows level.
E.g. if you set in Windows that the Desktop “folder” is to be shown in the left top row, when selecting or opening or saving a file, then Desktop needs to be defined or set to “Pin to quick access” this setting (like unpinning) can be done in the menu that opens with the right mouse button.
If a folder (or Desktop) is pinned in the quick access list (left top row), then it will also show when one invokes the PD Import function.
Somehow, your quick access list has been reset or changed. And maybe this has something to do with PD, but I think, more likely with a change or upgrade etc at Windows level.
I would recommend trying to pin the Desktop in the quick access list in the Windows folder screen, (open a windows folder, move to your Desktop folder, in c:\users\%username%\ , right click and in the opened menu click Pin to Quick Access. And see what happens when you open import in PD).
BTW: In the folder screen, pinned folders have a small pin behind their name. And: you can change to order of the pinned folders by simply moving them up or down…
Let us know whether this helps!

Questions like this, and the answers can lead to huge discussions. But I will give it a try.
It is always easy to define a PC or laptop for video editing: buy the latest model with the fastest parts you can afford. The faster the laptop is, the smoother the editing will be.
First of all, have a look at the minimum specs for PD here (https://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/specs_en_US.html)
But to give some general rules of thumb:
- PC is usually better than laptop, you get better/faster value for your money and it has more room for extra hardware should you need it.
- CPU: look for a model that is not older than 1 year, newer is better; if Intel always go for a i7 or a i9 processor
- Memory: at least 16Gb, 32 Gb would be better.
- Disks: go for an SSD M.2 model, PCIe 4.0 would be ideal, and at least 1Tb large, video files are large. Your secondary disk(s) are SSD or can be HDD disks
- A good GPU, graphics card would be ideal, but PD does not use that extensively for all its work
- The screen size would be 17”. This can be smaller if you go for an external display, but I guess you are looking for a laptop for a reason. The screen resolution ideally is 4K as well, but a 1 or 2k would also do.
Hope that this helps.

Why don't you make some yourself, please see attached
|

Some examples all with PD 365 made within 5 mins attached. Green background to make it easier to fit it in somewhere. Project examples are available, should you need them, but it would not be to hard the recreate them. As Tony wrote, we don't have much to go on. Maybe this helps you getting somewhere?

Try the Preferences / General tab in somewhere at the bottom
untick : Automatically check for updates...., and
untick the one below (Receive notfications....) as well
(If you want to keep your software up-to-date, you will have to check for updates manually of course).
