Don't forget to activate before doing any updates.

I think that message is not referring to the days remaining but that it has been activated too many times.

You still need to contact support to get around this problem.

Gary0322 - You probably have nothing to be concerned about. The 77 uses a new sensor and all ARW programs to handle this new sensor require changes. I see info that Adobe has updated the RAW handler for both Lightroom and PhotoShop.

Sony's ARW filetype is Sony's filetype used for all their sensors, a RAW file decoder needs to distinguish between the actual sensor used and know the parameters to use to properly decode it.

PhotoDirector - I am testing a beta version of PhotoDirector3 and it handles the new sensor properly. Perhaps Cyberlink might provide an update for current versions of PhotoDirector???

Hi PIX

Thanks for the quick response.

For the time being, I think I will keep them in the RAW format. I can still edit the RAW files with the software that came with the camera. I will catalogue the JPG's in PhotoDirector but keep all the files in their original location.

Not a perfect method but I would still not need to keep multiple copies of each photo this way other than one RAW and one JPG (which I do for my other cameras as well). I use an external backup drive for redundancy.

Gary
Hi

Thanks for the response.

I saved the files as both raw and jpg so here are both, unmodified. The jpg mainly for you to see how the picture 'should' look.

I assume this problem would also occur for the Alpha 65 which also uses the new 24.3 Meg APSC sensor.

Hi

PhotoDirector SR PT110909-01, Version 2.0.2105

I have a Sony Alpha 77 camera.

When viewing in PhotoDirector, the arw files have a Magenta(ish) tint and poor contrast. I am assuming the arw files from this new camera are going to require tweaking to work properly. Can someone please confirm if it is a PhotoDirector RAW viewer glitch please.

I saw the same tint with another trial program although once the latest version of the other trial program was used, the display was fine. The latest version did have A77 support added. After that test, I assume I am seeing a PhotoDirector problem. I assume Sony has made some changes for the file format for this new sensor but they kept the same file type.

I did a forum search but saw nothing appearing to be about this particular problem.

Thanks,
Gary
Hi

I have found that if a reboot doesn't solve a strange problem, that shutting down the computer and restarting can sometimes help. I assume hardware can sometimes get into a state that a simple reboot won't reset.

Gary
WoW! Excellent support to help solve a problem.

Added... In no way is this meant with any sarcasm - This is what a Forum is supposed to be for, assisting, teaching and learning.
Don't forget to activate before applying the updates, although perhaps with the latest update that doesn't matter any more.

Gary
If you are using Digital audio output the option to use Stereo Mix will not exist. I assume it is a DRM issue and "they" don't want us to have the ability to capture Digital audio directly.

Gary
Search for "waveeditor windows media player" and you will find a thread with info about what's probably your problem.

The installer probably can't find a WMP file and quits without passing on a message. One of the threads explains a way to enable a reason for failure message and if it is the WMP file missing, how to cure it.

Gary
Hi

Reference thread "PowerDirector 9 - AVI Profile Settings - Compression codec (No Compressor)" for the info that steered me toward this "solution".

I have been having 64 bit PD9 problems with many different ways of failing. I have found some relatively 'safe' ways to edit/render but I have wondered if the 32 bit version might help although I installed from the downloaded install version rather than from a DVD.

With MrBalloon's information, I did get a 32 bit version installed - here's how I did it. When the installer asked for the language to use, I looked in my 'temp' directory, searching for recently created directories. There was a directory named pftD2EF.tmp and in it was a directory named 'x64'. I deleted the x64 directory then answered the Language to use popup. Once the install finished I ended up with a 32bit install of PD9 (9.0.0.2316) in my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit system.

After activating, I ran the 2504 update and now had 32-bit 9.0.0.2504.
Finally, I ran the 2930 update and I now have 32-bit PowerDirector Ultra64 version 9.0.0.2930.

I haven't done much testing yet but I now have a DivX option for AVI files.

Perhaps this might be an option for those who are having problems with a 64bit PD install, no promises but this might help. Keep in mind the name of the directory in Temp will probably change but will probably look similar to the name I found.

Thank you MrBalloon for your info.

Gary
I also have Win 7 Ultimate 64bit and WMP was installed but I still had to do the WMP disable/reenable dance as explained in that link to get WaveEditor to install...

Gary
Hi

Look for topic "Installation Did Not Include WaveEditor".

An unfound Windows Media Player file could be causing it to fail the installation with no explanation.

Gary
There is one other possible problem if WaveEditor won't install. Somewhere in these forums is an explanation of what to do - some searching should find it.

Sometimes a Windows Media Player file that's needed isn't found by the installer and it gives up without a message. The explanation tells what to change in an installation configuration file to see the reason the installation failed. If it's the missing WMP file, it is an easy fix and is also explained in the same thread.

As for the activation key - it appears it is only acceptable with the initial PD version so after (re)installation but before any updates, activate PD; after that's successful you can then apply the latest update (it contains all previous changes as well as the latest).

Gary
If you're only using one audio device, you could disable the other device with the Device Manager and not worry about its driver version and perhaps stabalizing the PD9 startup.

Gary
I enjoyed the video, nicely done - excellent window washer, certainly uses a lot of water though ;

One addition could improve it though, where are the islands? A zoom in on a map would clear that up.
Hi

Pana TM700 here as well. I am pretty sure I've seen the video continue after the end of audio and timer bar at the right end with KMPlayer as well. It's not just a PD9 glitch but probably something unexpected in the Pana file.
Quote: You can get your PD8 key from the CL site if you purchased online.

Thanks Jeff,

Got the info & key, opening up the PD8 option again.
