So, I'm trying to record audio from the internet. I have been trying to use Wave Editor, but it will not work. It doesn't recognize any sound at all. I also have Total Record from High Criteria, and that does work. TotalRecorder has a setting in which to change the input from sound board to software. I assume that I can't do this with Wave Editor as it has very few setting that I can change. Anybody have any suggestions of recording from the net with WaveEditor? Thanks.

Hi Landdon,

you have been hanging in there for a while,
so I'll pop in to say that; no, I do not believe WE can record from the net.

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Just something.

Hi Landdon and Nina,

It does appear to be possible. Or at least it worked for me using the following steps.

- Open WaveEditor > Click on Record Audio (microphone icon).

- Click on Settings > Set Audio Profile as desired > Set Audio Device to internal card (if other device is shown).
Set Audio Input to Stereo Mix. (Note: You may have to lower the Internet audio volume, and/or system volume, as well as experiment with the input Volume slider to avoid an oversaturated distorted recording, as the audio meter in WaveEditor does not appear to be too accurate) > Click OK.

- Click on Record button to start recording the Internet audio > Click on Stop button to stop recording (Recorded audio waveform will now fill the WaveEditor screen) > Click Close.

- Click File > Save Track As > Name the file > Click Save.

A .wav audio file will be saved in the designated output folder set in PD9’s Preferences.

Well under Audio Input I can't select anything at all. It's grayed out. I can't change any setting at all. I think that's my problem. Why can't I?

If you are using Digital audio output the option to use Stereo Mix will not exist. I assume it is a DRM issue and "they" don't want us to have the ability to capture Digital audio directly.

I don’t know why, but Gary1545’s explanation seems plausible. Perhaps others will test and add their findings here.
I just simply tried to record streaming audio from a local radio station (using described settings), and it worked.
Here’s what my screen looks like. (XP Pro system)

I suppose, but I don't understand why TotalRecorder will let me record and WaveEditor doesn't. Seems silly to me.
