You're right. The PD interface with SmartSound needs fixing. CL knows about the issue.
Oddly, for me, right now, on Win 7 (64-bit), with the 3305 patch installed,
can't make SS misbehave at all in PD. Sure - it slows don the works, but it's doing everything it should so far.
Some people get crabby, but I take out my frustration by pulling out Revo Uninstaller & totally removing miscreant software. This takes out the registry footprint too (which Windows Control Panel does NOT).
Not saying it's sure fire, because I've had a bit of grief from SS/PD before, but:
The steps in
italics aren't completely necessary. You could leave them out.
1. Ditch QuickTracks (use Revo with a moderate registry scan)
2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartSound Software & make sure there's nothing in the QuickTracks subfolders
3. Go to C:\ProgramData\SmartSound Software Inc - move the whole folder somewhere else temporarily (in case you need it later)
4. Restart
5. Re-install QuickTracks 5.1.8.exe and SmartSoundCommonData.exe
6. Open PD & test the SS Module.
7. Go to C:\ProgramData\ and check the SmartSound Software Inc folder.
It should look like this
8. If it doesn't, synchronise it with the original folder.
I hope you get some joy out of SS soon.
Cheers - Tony
