Quote: Do not waste your time. Quick Sync does better job (as far as quality is considered) than GPU

On what do you base your observation, so I might try. As I see with my experiment, there is no visible difference.
I have now done a test, with a 2 hour long video.

I rendered in MP4 with QuickSynch enabled and it took 6 min 04 secs.

I then rendered without QuickSync and Nvidia GPU enabled and it took 11 min 32 secs.

Quite impressive, and looking at the quality, I cannot see any differnce but I may have to do a more severe test.
Quote: If you cannot see any speed improvement, Intel Quick Sync doesn't work.
Let's use GPU-Z application to see Intel GPU loading and paralelly see on the CPU loading.

I sent trouble ticket to Cyberlink because on my PC Quick Sync works when I PRODUCE clip, doesn't work when I CREATE folder.
Probably there is a bug.

Well I have it working. However it's strange the way it happened. I installed a copy of Media Espresso and when I went to run it asked for a registration number. So I collected that from my Cyberlink account and inserted all ok. I ran a couple of test with Media Espresso and it crashed ! I finally got it to work with a small file and all seemed ok.

I then ran PD11 and used my test file and lo and behold the Intel QuickSync hardware option showed up !!! I used GPU and watched the % and it rose to 72 % and was very fast...more tests to be done. However it also crashed, Tried 3 times and crashed each time. I then went into the BIOS and slowed the MAX iGPU rate to 1250 from 2000 and it now works perfectly...at least for now. I need to do some tests to determine how much faster it works.
Found the problem...it was that the software needed upgrading. Once that was done everything worked.

The only exception is that I don't notice any major difference whether I turn off my hardware gpu or not. Perhaps on some utilities it may make a difference. I shall experiment.
If I try to enable this option, PD11 stops working !

Anyone else have this problem ?
Quote: Is this the 64bit PD 11? Because it is the 64bit version that fails. If you do have the 64bit version working, then We need to find out what codecs you have installed. That can be found by starting Windows Media Player.
Then click on "Help". You might have to press "alt" to have "help" appear.
Click "About Windows Media Player"
Then click on "Technical Support Information"
wait a little while...
Scroll down on the support info to codecs. Here are mine:

Microsoft RLE
Microsoft Video 1
Microsoft YUV
Intel IYUV codec
Toshiba YUV Codec
Fraps Video Decompressor
Huffyuv v2.1.1
Xvid MPEG-4 Codec
ffdshow Video Codec
Mpeg4s Decoder DMO
WMV Screen decoder DMO
WMVideo Decoder DMO
Microsoft Zune Mpeg4s Decoder DMO
Mpeg43 Decoder DMO

I got these by starting the Win 64bit Media Player. The 32bit WMP also shows the 32bit Morgan codecs that I purchased. Hmmm

Quote: Has anyone had success with Ultra 64bit in getting it to recognize the Fuji formal 3D AVIs?????

I just did a quick test and created a short 3D video on my Fuji. I copied it to PD11 and it recognized it immediately as 3D.

That's the first step. what test next ?
Quote: When cancelling (after starting) a burn to folder of an AVCHD DVD be prepared to wait a mighty long time for PD11 to return "Burning cancelled". And the farther into the burn the longer the wait.

The issue is that the user is not given a "Please wait" window to at least know what is happening. When delays are in the order of minutes not seconds it's the reasonable thing to do.

PD10 did not have this problem.

I had this problem in PD10 and also in PD11, and it relates to the nvidia driver in my case. If you use any of the new drivers, as reported in other posts, you may well experience this problem, as well as a rendering issue. I am using 301.42 and have no problems at all. If I use anything newer I have this problem as well as the rendering issue.

At least two maybe as many as four.

When you install you get an activation then produce AVCHD, and Bluray disk burning.

I don't remember now, but I do remember those three times.

So far I have 3, I have tried a number of productions and creations and haven't had anymore yet !
How many activation options are there with this version ?

In PD10 I think we had 3 or maybe 4 to do.
Quote: Ok I figured it out. NVIDIA beta drives cause this problem. I am using a notebook and their current non beta driver 301.42 seems to work fine. 304.79 BETA and the versions before that caused this problem for me.

I can confirm this issue also, I have tried all the same drivers on my GTX 680 and the only one that did not show this problem was 301.42. All the BETAS have this problem. And they showed up another problem. If you do a short test in Produce mode and then stop that test, it takes quite awhile before you can proceed with anything else. The process is in some sort of wait state. This does not happen with the 301.42 drivers. There could be other issues that I have not tried.
Interesting reports with the beta driver,

My results are quite different.

I just rendered an m2ts file that is 2:00:35:20 long,,it took 6 minutes and used 55% GPU....
Quote: I have not tried it myself, but what happens when someone installs their software on a second computer?

Does it not work?

A pal I know has it installed on 3, maybe 4 PCs, they all work fine and all get updated !

It's not legal but he tells me they work fine. Cyberlink terms are, that you can only install on 1 PC.
Quote: I'm interested in what you did to enable/disable on-board graphics? There have been a number of threads on combining intel quicksynch with discrete cards and the issues that arise :

I enabled the option in the BIOS, where it has the choice of enable/disable, normally disabled by default. I had been running in normal mode for a few days and just testing performance, and wanted to try this option as I have heard such good reports, but I have not seen any numbers. For example I can render a 59 minute wmv file to MP4 best quality in 13 minutes, and avchd, 720 in 6 minutes. Compared to what I can do on another PC I have it is 3 times faster. I was hoping to use Quick Synch to see if that can be improved, but I am very reluctant to try it again.
I just upgraded my system to an Asus P8Z77 WS M'board with onboard Intel Graphics, from a previous Asus M'board without onboard graphics. My main graphics card is an Nvidia GTX 680. This has been superb for rendering video files in PD10. After installing and setting up, PD10 was put to the test and rendered superbly.

I then decided to enable the on-board intel graphics and make use of that gpu to see what performance I might achieve, and I was shocked to discover that after I enabled it PD10 would crash upon starting. Something that I have never had happen. After trying a few times and rebooting it would not start, but would crash every time. I disabled the on-board graphics, however that did not stop PD10 from crashing upon start up. I then restored the system back to an earlier time when the on-board graphics had not been enabled and I can thankfully say, PD10 has returned to former self, and once again works superbly.

I mention all this because I have read from time to time, on this forum, about folk who cannot get PD10 to start, I begin to wonder if the onboard graphics card is something to consider as the problem. Perhaps mine is a one off.
Quote: I am very much a novice when it comes to video editing software and so this may be a simplistic question however I have searched Help for PowerDirector and the only reference to Merging is via the keyword COMBINE and it pertains only to combining back a video that you have split.

How Can I combine or merge 2 separate video files so that the end result is 1 seamless video file which when played will show the correct time (Duration of the 2 video files together)?

Currently I can import 2 video files , flv files in this case, and place one after the other in the timeline and click on Produce and get a single file. The problem is the time/duration shown in my media player (VLC or WMP) is all 0's, This is a problem because it means no fast forwarding can be done when viewing the completed video on a portable payer like a smart phone.

Thank you

I think if you highlite all the selected videos, and then right click and select " Group Objects" then produce, you will find the time displays correctly. I did it for a couple of mp4 clips, and it worked. Not sure about flv but worth a try.
Quote:
I want test this program Powerdvd.
but powerdvd triel can not play all my fraps files.
this is only because of triel version?
I must check it before a purchus.

I can confirm that PwerDVD 12 will NOT play fraps original videos. I tried converting to another AVI and that did not work either. I had to convert to an MP4 before it would then work.

If you are prepared to do that then it will play. If you want to play an original Fraps screen capture, then it will not play in PowerDVD 12 but they do play in PowerDVD 11...!!!! at least on my machine.

Quote: I have found that many of the same MP3s will NOT play at all in the Media Library or the Media Viewer.

Further to Tony's findings (which I can verify) please see photo and attached 'offending' MP3 file.

Put this in my PD10 (1424) plays perfectly, also plays perfectly outside of PD10, not sure if this helps but it might if enough folk can try it as well.
I installed PD10 on Windows 8 and it works perfectly. I had a problem with activating the production codecs but Cyberlink came to the rescue and now it's all working perfectly. I will do some comparisons and see what performance is like.
Quote: Hi:

new to PD10. Helping my son with his Spanish music video. The title word requires a tilde over the "n" in the word Suenos...Can't figure out how to insert this character using the text box choices in the title editing field. Any thoughts?
Nothing popped up when I searched "tilde" or Spanish words in the help index or forum.
Gracias

Try this...find the correct font, that is to say the n with tilde, copy it and then go to your title and find the place you want to put it, and use "shift insert " that should place it there.

I just did it and it worked fine..

Here is one for you to copy Ñ or this Sueños
Quote: Then what. Imgburn has no instructions and seems very complex.

Can anyone give a short walk through of how to make copies from the file saved in PD10 creat disk step?

It's quite easy actually.

Open Imgburn and you will be presented with a group of options, as I recall it's the top right which is burn disc from a folder, browse to the folder and then at the bottom to the left you will have the icon to click on burn dvd.
