I find SVRT works very well if:
1. You don't trim the clips
2. You don't split the clips
3. You don't add transitions
4. You don't add any effects
5. You don't place any titles in front of the clips
6. You don't .........

Panasonic SD600 for USD399 is unbeatable. 1080p60 is so much better than 1080i60 @ 24Mbps. Just my opinion of course

I agree with Kevin about the degradation of quality when using HA....
I dissagree. Using nVidia here as well but I cannot see any difference between CPU or GPU rendering on AVCHD 1080p60 profile at average 28Mbps. Perhaps it is the profile I am using. Anyway very happy with speed and quality of GPU rendering.

May I just add that if you place the fade transition at the end or beginning of a clip it will fade to black, but if you place it across the end/beginning of adjoining tracks it will blend the two tracks as a crossfade.

Is it perhaps your PC/video card is not up to displaying the HD video fast enough and it lags behind the true position of the video which then plays once ffd ceases? (a bit hard to explain what I am getting at....)
To test use SD vieo and use ffd for a set time eg 10 secs and then see where the cursor gets up to on the timeline.
Repeat the exact same process for HD video. Does the cursor go to about the same place once you press play as the SD video?

Can I please register my interest as well. Thanks

I was wondering what file format I should produce the following footage to get the best quality.
Try and match the file type you are using in your projects. What is the format of the VHS capture files? Mediainfo is a simple free programme which can tell you about your files and help you make a decision.
For the Sony again use the same file type: AVC

After you create a custom profile you can edit that profile by changing the .ini file here:
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\9.0\Profile.ini.
I tried to change the video size as a test but resulted in PD crashing. You might have better luck.
PowerDirector is very much aimed at consumer end user and hence the output is predefined to keep it simple. I suspect you should have used the trial version before you purchased so you could have explored PD's features (or lack of them!)

Would the .mp4 output be an alternative?

You can adjust the 1080p60 preset Kevin outlined above and increase the maximum bitrate to match the original footage by following these instructions:

I have even got SVRT to work, well above the allowable maximum bitrate in the presets.

Hi,
My 'gotta have' is output movies (to a format) at 1080p 60fps. Do you know if this option is available?
My I ask what camera are you using?

Just a tip for the 1080p50: if you want to maintain as best quality as you an have a read here:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14176.page
Lots of posts but there is a work around to extend the data rate up to the specs of the SD700.
(That is if you have a player that can play it )
|

Interesting.
1080i50 is generally 50 fields per second creating 25 frames per second.
Just a quick check you have preferences set as PAL not NTSC (Silly Q I know but has caught a few in the past)
Any chance of posting a short segment of test video for some of us to download and test? A panning segment is good to check frame skipping.

The program has much more possibilities, but it also has much more problems.
I have read your other thread and you are not alone in having problems. However, PD9 has run virtually without a single crash on my average PC for over 6 months now.
The forum generally gives a slightly warped view of the number of problems as those happily using PD9 do not post lots of "I am having no problems with PD9 can somebody please not help me"

I have a strong feeling that the point of video editing is to make the raw footage watchable to those who want to see it including me.
So my approach is to decide to video something even if it is just a morning at home with the kids. Make a short movie with music etc, show it to the family who have a laugh etc and then save that short, edited, watchable video. The raw footage is deleted.
I never just pick up the camera and take snippets of video of this and that because eventually it just sits on the HDD and is never seen.
As for archiving: there is a copy of all my edited videos on my PC, on my NAS and on my remote back up HDD.

I have it installed twice on separate OS on the same PC, and again it activated fine and both copies run fine.

Does anyone know why PD 9 doesn't allow selecting both x.v.Color and enable hardware video encoder when burning to Blu-ray/AVCHD disk or burning to folder?
Likewise in the produce tab. My only suggestion is that GPU encoding doesn't support x.v.Color at this time. Did you record the original footage in xvYYC colour to start with? If not, there is no real advantage as far as I can tell from my reading.
Out of interest: My Pana TM700 is xvYYC capable as is my Media player and LCD so I did a few tests. I personally found the extended colour gamut produced greyer blacks and some over vivid colours. Not sure whether it was just the Samsung LCD going overboard with contrast and brightness which I was unable to adjust via the menu when xvYYC was activated. Anyway I gave up as it looked worse anyway.

The Burn to Folder work around needs to be a single post sticky, don't you think?
