recommendation for Hi Def camera-entry level

Hi,
Just thought I'd ask? What would be a good entry level Camcorder around the 500$ Canadian price range?
My wife and I are invited to an Alaskan cruise the latter part of August and I wanted an Hi-Def camcorder that deosn't cost a fortune.
the reason for the alaska cruise is two fold 1) wife is prone to car sickness so am leary bout sea travel at higher cost, 20 She is alergice to direct sun light so Carribean is out the question LOL

Panasonic SD600 for USD399 is unbeatable. 1080p60 is so much better than 1080i60 @ 24Mbps. Just my opinion of course
