Undo takes a lot of time

Hello,

When I use the undo button, my PC is going slow and it takes a lot of time (more than one minute).
My project has certainly too many clips (2 hours with hundreds of clips 1080/50p) and I will certainly have to split it in smaller pieces order to workaround this problem.
Anyone experiencing this ?

Thanks a lot
Best regards,

Hi faucheur,

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds to me like you are pucsing the limit with the number of High Definition video clips(seen this specific Panasonic before and it produces VERY demanding clips) and the total scope of your project has found some weak areas in your PC and are showing themselves through a sluggish reaction of the undo button. Is this the only function that seems sluggish? You can SPLIT and move video clips around with no sluggish behavior?

My question would be....does the problem go away if you reduce the number of clips in the Media Room and put only a few clips on the timeline. Does it then become more responsive? If so...then it sounds more like it is the extent of your project.

If it is still sluggish, then we need more information.

1. A DxDiag file would be great.....Just use the ATTACHMENTS button when you respond to this post.
2. What Build are you using od PD9? 2330? 2330A? 2504? It may be a reported bug....but I havevn't heard of this specific problem yet with any of the builds.
3. A Screenshot of PD9 open with your project...entire project visible on the timeline...and the video clips visible in the Media Room as well.

Regards,

Kevin

3 Basics again!
Panasonic SD700 1080p 50fps - 5 to 10 second sample file as well please - unedited and straight from the camera.
Read the instructions below.

Thanks for your answers.
I am running PD9 Utlra 64 build 2330.
Undo is not the only sluggish function. Resizing transitions is also sluggish.
Reducing the project length and number of clips used is reducing the effects, so I am convinced this is due to the 1080p clips that are too demanding.

I attached dxdiag.
Thanks a lot

Hi there this is just a suggestion
why dont you export half of the project as a file then edit the other half
This will free up some resources.
then you can bring in the other finished half and join them as one file and create youre D.V.D or whatever etc etc

cheers

Sure, actually I have split my project in 3. I will merge the 3 pieces at the very end before producing the film.

Just a tip for the 1080p50: if you want to maintain as best quality as you an have a read here:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14176.page

Lots of posts but there is a work around to extend the data rate up to the specs of the SD700.
(That is if you have a player that can play it ) Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.
