Working on a long music video for a High school marching band year in review.
Been noticing that now the program is missing pictures or effects on playback, even though they are set up to do a fade, dissolve, etc...
should I save and produce the file as a finished product then continue to edit from the end point as a whole new project, if so what is the best video format to save it so i do not lose a generation when adding more pictures and video clips?
Video clips made from HD camcorder, GOPRO and Nikon SLR.
Editing on Lenovo laptop with dedicated 1 gig video card, 16 gig ram, 2.4 cpu
Music track is laid down total time 7:20, edited pics and video to 4:22 so far.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance

To save a project with all this in the timeline.
Should use the option in the menu File / Pack Projects Materials ...
This will keep everything in a folder.
Note: When editing is created some temporary files.
Note: When editing is created some temporary files.
Example: audio that was edited in WE, photo extracted video, which were used for the project are automatically deleted after 30 days.

I have edited over a dozen videos without this problem. Now, after editing a video, closing it and shutting down the computer and coming back to it in a day or two, PD12 will allow me to only use the split function. None of the other editing functions are shown (Fix/Enhance, Power Tools, etc.) .
Your problem already much discussed in this forum, is PD12 error, install the latest update, PD12 v. 3403.
If not solve, clicks right in the video and select, Unlik Video and Audio.
Another option, add the same video about what's in the timeline.

Err...

I keep some mini projects for later use, but I know I'll add new files, and already the advance preparation.
To save complete design right is to save the Pack Project Materials... with everything inside.
When there is a project open and lack a file, good PD shows the name, add this in the search, if stored on the PC I'll find it.
Note: files created within the project goes to the PD workbook, Expor Folder, these are deleted in 30 days (default)
Example: created file in the project:
Audio that is fixed in WavEditor, extracted image of the video.

When I save the video I'm working on, it keeps freezing at 20% in the saving process. I am then forced to close the program because it never completes saving. Also, now and then, all of the icons disappear and I have to minimize PowerDirector and bring it up again in order for the icons to come back. I need to finish this video in just a few days, so I'm getting a bit worried.
I don't know the true cause of this, but it could very well be a problem with my computer. I can hear that it sounds like it keeps shutting down and then booting back up, but that's not actually happening. Aside from the problem with PowerDirector, the computer just seems to be slower than usual and some programs stop responding. I tried using CCleaner, I did a disk cleanup, and I uninstalled unwanted software. I really don't know where else to talk about this problem. I'm sorry if it seems off topic, but my main focus is to use PowerDirector without it freezing.
I had a problem similar to yours for a project that took more than 5 hours editing, saved the day before.
Reopen project just to add audio at the start, I saved project.
Now no longer opens to 20% and have to give Ctrl + Alt + Del.
Unico way was to take the autosave project, I lost the last 10 minutes of editing, but decided my case.
Note: in my case PD caught when opening the project.
For PD stopped by producing file, note the time it stopped.
Open the project and the timeline locate the time position has an effect that cause the problem.

I regularly film a concert, and then chop it up into separate songs. Is there a way in PowerDirector to do this in one hit - ie create all the separate songs simultaneously? At the moment I am using the Panasonic software HD Writer AE to chop the songs up, but this involves loading the entire concert, deleting everything but the one song, and then repeating this over and over till I have every song - takes ages. I then process in PowerDirector 12. If I could create all the songs in one go it would be an enormous time-saver.
Stressing that ynotfish showed.
In my case I divide first each song, this facilitates the selection.
This video was response to another topic and serves for your case.

Preview Speed 8X video?
SD videos I speed up to 8X when editing on the timeline.
For FullHD 1080x1920 video, no more than 2X even selected 4 or 8 X.
It has always been like that since my core2 CPU, now signature PC improved a lot in general, but this issue is not.
Lack only change the current video card is 128 bits.
Uma nova placa de video resolve esta limitação ?
What price card that has good value, cost benefit?

Hi there,
I have a problem which I'm not sure how to solve without having to manually move a series of clips.
In the attachment, I want to move all the clips on Track 1 forward so that the beginning of the blank/black clip (with fade to the next clip) meets the end of the blank/black clip on Track 2. As I said, I'm not sure how this is done without moving each clip manually.
I suppose there is a simple way to do it but I can't find anything to explain it.
Thanks
If I understand right.
You want to work with the opacity line to switch between track 1 and track 2.
Need to activate the opacity line.
Select the video on track 2.
Button, keyframe, Clip / attributes.
In Opacity line, click on the diamond.
Now on the timeline, click and holding the opacity line down shows the video track 1, up / shows the video track 2
see image.

I appreciate your help.
How do you apply the mask? Haven't had experience in that process.
Alan
I did not give details thought it did not need.
1 - Select the video in the timeline.
2 - Modify button opens the Pip Designer.
3 - Mask button.
4 - Select the 1st masks the right of the X.
5 - save button
Have to do to each segment (clip).
Normal is doing this in the first when the single file.

Not sure we are on the same page.
It appears that during stabilizing it has to move the image a little to allow for the stabilizing fix. That movement of the window stays with the video itself and appears when you play back and it moves left and right sides of the video continually moves (adjusts) to accommodate the stabilizing of the film.
Attached is file to look at after stabilizing.
Hope this helps.
Alan
Your video is already stabilized, I applied the mask here and it works.
reduced video just to see how it looks.
In this case that would render the video again.
You apply mascara to the video in full-screen size 4x3.
If you see black band around espande the image, can be directly in the preview, to form playing out the black bars.
Now you apply the stabilizer, I think in your video is + or - 50.
The play and sees the preview is this good.
The mask is fixed will not shaken with video.
An option to create a mask with Rectangular 4x3 and transparently use the video track below.
Note: I suppose the video will remain with the 4x3 format in 16x9 video in this case will have the side black bars.
If you want to 16x9 full screen, no need to use masks only zoon the image up to fill the 16x9 screen, and common cutting off heads in this case.

Hello,
I did try doing the editing on the full 3.5GB .MPG file same result.
The 4x3 frame the video is inside of, moves left to right during playback.
You mentioned a 4X3 mask - where is that and how does that work?
I am taking the 4X3 size to the 16x9 size. Maybe I should keep it at the 4x3 size.
Or, maybe it is asking to much to get rid of stabilizing issues.
Alan
It has 2 paths in my understanding.
You save the video in 4x3, then converts to 16x9 this involves re-rendering.
Or use the mask 4x3 on the issue, does the job all at once.

|
Eu estou pensando que eu deveria aplicar toda a edição, incluindo as ferramentas de magia sobre o arquivo de 3.5GB completo não o arquivo .MOV condensado . o que você acha?
That's what I would do, I think is the best.

I am trying to use the stabilization fix and am having some difficulty.
It goes through the process OK. But during the stabilizing, it seems to move the 4X3 frame left to right to accommodate the effect. That also comes out on the final product. It is distracting to see the frame move left to right when watching the video.
Is there an adjustment to stop the 4x3 frame from moving so you just the image stabilized?
The process of stabilization should be applied to the original video before setting text, frame etc ...
The stabilizer will give Zoon, in the image and shaken the sense opposite to that in the video.
If only a small frame, can first enlarge (zoon) the picture to disappear the frame, then apply the stabilizer.
If it is a FullHD image to DVD, should look good.
For image stored on the same qualidadde, will have loss of quality.
In many cases it is better to lose quality and eliminate shaken image.
If you have a 4x3 image and converting this to 16x9, use the 4x3 mask, it saves the video not show the swinging edges.

I am working with power director 12 and I would like to know how to create a file to store my videos in. What do I have to do in order to keep the videos I shoot and how do I retrieve the file in order to work on it. Thanks for any help you can give.
In PD12. you save your video edited in new video file.
Button Produce / select the video format and quality.
You can use Intelligent SVRT button will be selected the same quality of the original video whenever possible.
Note: Save project, save a program with all that has been done on the time line, Menu File / Save Project As ...
Save video file goes to Produce.
Image shows selected to MPEG2 file, standard for DVD-video.
|
|
It is normal to the image preview have low quality for faster processing.
Save a portion of the video (Produce) and see the quality.

ynotfish
I confirm and agree with you.
Nota:
Now knowing how it works, Enable / Disable, this tool only when I want to use.

Hi
Need help..
When I first installed pd13 and after resizing video in the preview window or modifying window you could still see it and play it in the preview window. I have had up to to 4 videos all resized and playing ok in the preview window
Now after resizing video it does not play in the preview window it just stays black screen but you can hear the audio.
when i mean resizing im talking about adjusting the size to enable another video to play side by side in the preview window
any help much appreciated
I have this same problem for images (pictures) when you open a project and add more photos.
Beyond the Fade button, which restores the opacity, the other button I used, keyframe / Clip Attribute / Opacity.
A click on the diamond side of the clock.
See if it works for your case.
Tell us if resolved, is a palliative.
Hopefully Cyberlink fix this bug soon.

I just began having this problem. I import a clip (into an empty project) with a frame rate of 30 fps. I get a pop-up telling me of a frame rate conflict when I drag it onto the empty timeline...that I need to change the frame rate of 29.97 set in General Preferences. Yet when I open General Preferences, it shows the frame rate to be 30 FPS (NTSC) with drop-frame selected as "No".
I've tried closing and reopening PD12 and tried with different clips, but keep getting the message. This didn't happen for the first several weeks using PD12. Could it be related to the update to v 3403?
As far as I know 30 FPS is rounded value to 29.97 FPS.
You should ignore the PD error message. in this case.
If you want you can disable this message, Preferences / Confirmation / 1st line clear / OK.

Is there any way to edit particles IN title designer instead of editing the particle and then adding it to the title?
I think not, even in PD13 not see this possibility.

I have bitten the bullet and ordered Director Suite 3.
Now I know this question has been asked before, but I'm wondering if there are any previous programs I can delete which may be taking up latent space on the PC.
I currently have installed, PD9, PD12, Photodirector 3 (which I have never used) and Wave Editor 2. I will probably keep PD12 as I still have so many files still in use on it, but if I were to uninstall the rest, what consequences might I expect please?
I in your case, uninstall PD9 and her 2 packs effects.
PhotoDirector is not used well.
If you will keep PD12 should also keep your 2 packages of effects, because effects of PD13 package does not open in PD12.
Wave Editor must adapt to keep up Audiodirector.
For simple editing, I prefer Wave Editor.
This is just my opinion.
