Pd13 hangs then stops responding on Save Project

I had this problem a few weeks back. When Savin a project it gets to 20% and stops responding then crashes. The last time in conjunction with another issue I completely uninstalled PD13 & all associated programs & effects packages, cleaned with CCCleaner & reinstalled.


Now it's back & I shudder at the thought of tossing an entire Sunday afternoon repeating the process all over. Suggestions anyone?

There are others also having this problem. Mine seems to be associated with using the Dual Preview, that's why I asked.

Since it happened before and after the 2307 update, we may be able to rule that out.

possibly of note: After this problem re-emerged I updated to the latest driver for my Geforce 650. I also manually deleted all the temp files from within PD & did a Windows cleanup of my Crive that was deleting old service Pack & security updates. It took over an hour for the whole process. So it's safe to assume much has changed on my system, though all of that was after this malady returned.

Other than that. I did a one hour plus vacation video with PD and was starting my next project when it failed to Save.

I wonder if my editing hangups and your saving hangups are related. I only had one save hangup and that's when I had Dual Preview on.

Do you save the project over and over OR are you Saving As a new filename ie. Project 1... Project 2... etc?

Interesting, I can pull down Boats.wmv to the timeline & Save Project. Importing a .Mov file of my own, dropping alongside boats on the timeline and Save Project Hangs & crashes at Saving thumbnails.

And something else almost certainly related. At some point yesterday when this started I noticed all .Mov files I imported show only Black Boxes in the Library. .Avi thumbs are fine. .Movs won't preview either.

Problem gone (for now anyway). Get this, On the Hardware Acceleration Tab the first option had been Greyed Out since initially installed and was in regard to enabling Acceleration Cuda & I believe Radeon cards. I assumed this meant it was "force activated by the software I guess. I did check the box underneath "Enable Hardware Encoding".

After your post about Cust. Improv. Prog., etc. I unchecked enable Hardware Acceleration & CIP & did a test Project Save to no avail. Restarted PD13 went back to Preferences and now under Hardware Acceleration Tab the first option is now available to me and now reads "Enable OpenCL technology to speed up video effect preview rendering". Also an Open CL logo appears next to the True Velocity 4 logo at the bottom of the requester. I checked both options and it looks like all is well once again. Go figure!

I hope you can find a quick solution to the Dual-Preview issue.

I have the same two options and both have been checked. I'm not getting the hangup during saving, but I still get hangups when editing in dual preview. Odd that I can save no problems with that sample boats clip.

Fairly certain Quicktime is up-to-date. Going to check that.
