Quote I have to make a composite video from multiple videos of the same sports event taken from different viewpoints. I can place the videos on separate tracks in PD19 and can line them roughly but wonder if there is a way to move individual tracks a frame at a time to get two tracks aligned so that the cut between them is "seamless". Ok not totally seamless as the viewpoint is different but to get the transition as smooth as possible.

Ohhps a quick search found this link https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/48031.page#251225 so no problemo.

This sounds very much like the issues that PowerDVD20 had with changes in the way Microsoft insisted that software updates are managed. See this forum post for some background..

I am running PD19 on a Win 10 desktop. I recently got hold of a couple of sample video clips from a GoPro9 and loaded them into PD19. They loaded and can be previewed. I then thought I'd try "lens correction" only to find PD 19 doesn't have an option for the GoPro9. I tried the GoPro8 settings on the basis it might be close but I got the error message:

"Media source error [Error Code 2]:
A media file in your project may not fully comply with the file format or standard, or your system may lack the required decoding components for this file. Please try again using another media file format."

Does anyone have an idea whether it's the file format or a missing component. If a missing component how do I find out what component ?
This is a really good explanation of what I can currently see (and how wonderful it is ) but doesn't really help me to get back to what I know and used to love. All the old and yet to be created projects start at this point. How can I get back to the toolbar as it should be...
I've been using PD for a number of years and PD19 since last year. Today I was editing a piece of video and the toolbar buttons, Capture, Edit and Create Disc disappeared. The only toolbar button I have is Produce. Does anybody have a clue what I did, or how to restore them, I have looked for a command or an old issue in the forum but can find nothing.
Quote Hi all, I am looking to buy a professional video card. Specifically a Radeon Pro WX 2100 or 3100 or 4100.
Anyone know how this card works with Powerdirector?
Thank you all.
Antonio

Hi @Antonio do you have a use case in mind, will you use this machine for gaming, video production, or streaming or perhaps all of the above. My only comment is would be that AMD video cards are not necessarily ideal for Power Director. Historically the driver software has been not as good as the Nvidia drivers. However, it will probably work OK. Search the forums for posts about AMD video cards.
I have refused to give up on this problem, and have had some luck, only some. I ran a windows routine that identified and corrected some corrupt system files (sfc/scannow). This gave me some confidence (misplaced) I deleted the PowerDVD directory in Windows Program files, and the PowerDVD directory in the appdata directory. Reinstalled PowerDVD 19, it worked, installed PowerDVD 20 it worked and I should have left it at that point. I confidently installed the latest update patch for a "smoother experience", bang. Back to square one. Repeated the exercise, up to the point that I tried to install PowerDVD 20 bang. Repeated the process but stopped at PowerDVD 19. I won't bother trying to install a later version at the present time. I see on this forum that a number of people have had issues with the patches/upgrades to PowerDVD 20. I obviously still have machine issues but at least I have an OK video player.
One thing I've noticed when "upgrading" is that not all historic "Content Packs" are included with an upgrade. I'm sure somebody will correct me but content packs appear to be released with a version and not always with the next version. I upgraded over several versions and then moved to a new PC after the death of the original machine. I hadn't specifically backed up the content packs and couldn't recover the older ones. Plus I didn't know what content packs I was missing.
I tend to concur that it is a Windows issue, but in this case the BSOD doesn't leave any crash information on the system which makes it very hard to resolve.

Often advice given on resolving issues points to drivers or hardware that has recently been added. In my case if I attempt to update or change a driver I get a BSOD. I suspect that post Christmas I will have to take it to a tech shop to resolve.
Hi PhilFKT,

I share your pain. I'm sort of in agreement with the service desk that the issue is with my PC. It failed to install the latest Win 10 service patch and has a few other odd behaviours, like it won't do a manual reboot it just shuts down, if I try and disable a firewire card it BSODs other than that it functions normally. I have installed and updated several programs since I had the issue with DVD 20. I have struggled to get any detail on the cause of the BSOD as Win 10 doesn't, in this case leave a dmp file so I'm blind. I find it frustrating as there must be a solution that doesn't involve blowing the machine away and starting again.
As recommended by the service desk I uninstalled the software and it seemed to uninstall, I then went through the process that the service desk recommended to complete the uninstall (uninstall a couple of directories). I then tried to install the software again. It got to about 85% and blue screened again.

As it didn't complete the installation there is no "uninstall" option so I now have files and possibly registry changes that I can't uninstall from a menu. (I can delete the directory and files manually). I have tried subsequently to install the software again and not succeeded.

If you Google the "side by side" error you will see that it would appear to be a problem with the Microsoft C++ redistributables. One of the options that suggested by Microsoft is to uninstall and reinstall all the the C++ redistributables. I felt unsure about doing that but Cyberlinkl suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the 2008 C++ packages (64 and 32 bit) I did this but it made no difference.

It would appear that on my machine at least there is an issue with the C++ redistributables which if it becomes a major issue with any other software I will need to rebuild the desktop.
After a number of iterations with the Service Desk I have to say goodbye Power DVD 20, I thought you were good but you never quite achieved greatness, you couldn't talk to my Chromecast and finally you died at the hands of an update patch, requiring a complete rebuild of my desktop, not going to happen, VLC will do what you couldn't (talk to my Chromecast) and it's free.

Hi Team,

Some more information re this issue for me..

The windows event viewer shows:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD20\PowerDVDVR.exe.Manifest".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD20\Kanten.X.MANIFEST" on line 0. Invalid Xml syntax.

Attempting to play a video file indicates that the issue is a "side-by-side configuration error". I have attached an image of th eerror message.
Hi Team,

I have just tried to install "Patch Update to v2216" on Power DVD 20. The install gets pretty much all the way through and then Blue Screens. That I can just about live with but in the process it has killed the Power DVD on my desktop.

Any thoughts about how or why or how to recover given that I can delete Power DVD and reinstall but not sure if that will fix the problem..
Thanks,

The infamous documentation question, the answer to every question is there, but in the small print.
I am many tapes through the task of copying tapes dating back to 2003 onto my hard drive. I have learnt a number of things:

1. Power Director 19, promises much but doesn't seem to handle frame errors (?), and it seems when they get to be too many, halts the import process. Which really means that it isn't usable for my DV tapes.

2. Power Director 19 identifies individual scenes during the first scan of a tape, (start and stop points when filming I guess). you can then merge these segments into a set of larger groups for inport. This useful, but overkill, a simple single file from the tape would be adequate.

3. WinDV imported all the tapes that PD19 rejected seamlessly, but each scene is an individual file resulting in a large number of files.

4. Adobe Premier Pro imported the tapes that PD19 rejected, as a single file per tape allowing me to repurpose the footage. In the video editor of my choice.
Use a "Color Board" on a track lower than the title..
OK, simple solution the video comes off the tape as an AVI file. Set the profile to AVI and away you go with fairly large files.
I have finally got around to installing a firewire card in my Win 10 desktop. Plugged the old Panasonic camcorder into the cable and Windows brought up PD19 as an option to capture the video. From PD19 you can control the camcorder, so far so good.

Steps taken to capture video:

1. Set "Automatic batch capture"

PD scans tape and displays thumbnails.

2. Set "Auto Merge" - I just want to transfer the tape contents to the desktop. The thumbnails representing short video clips are collected into groups (possibly based on date and time) under fewer thumbnails.

3. Set profile to H.264 - high quality, the tape isn't but why not. Alternative are Mpeg 2 and AVI.

4. Set "Start"
Camera replays the tape from the beginning and finishes, apparently normally, it takes time to transfer.

5. Click "Finished".

6. The Quickscan pop up shows 0 Intervals have been captured. There is no captured video data...

I haven't included a DXDIG.txt file because I don't actually get an error message. I suspect either I am doing something wrong or something fundamental is happening.
Hi Team,

So I followed the post to find the "Background Images", but how do you now create a permanent folder under Media Content , Colour Boards etc called "Background Images" to hold the images permanently so they are available every time you open a new project.

I have managed to create a "folder/tag" under the Media Content etc, and imported the images which does populate the "Media Content" folder and the newly created "folder/tag". But I can't seem to make it a default setting for the program. The images need to be reloaded every time you start open the program again or start a new project.
