I have been working on a short video clip for a number of weeks (on and off) with no issues. Today I decided to create a text title as the first 5 secs of the video. Simple title, one word, keyframed small to very large over 5 seconds, and "blended" with a simple JPG. This caused PD21 to "render the preview" for the whole clip. I can't find a way to stop this and It seems a major overkill.
To test a theory I created a new project, used a stock image from the media library, added a text title, keyframed from small to large, blended with the image and get the same issue, PD21 insists on preview rendering.
PD19 on the same desktop, does not force Preview Rendering for an identical clip.
PD21 appears to have an issue with titles.

I have a major project where I have two sets of videos from a drone. One set is from the camera in the drone. The other set it from a phone taking video of the drone externally (as it goes by, etc.). I've tried mixing these with PIP and the workload to make that happen is too much. So I want to create some video snips from the phone video, and place them into the media library. Then in the video from the drone I will insert the "fly by" clips from the phone. Problem is I find no way to save the phone clips into the media library so I can insert them as needed into the main video. So here are my questions...
- Is it possible to save a clip in the timeline into the media library -- kinda like when you do a snapshot it puts in in the library.
- Is there a better/alternate way to do this?
Thanks for any tips/directions you can provide!
My understanding of you problem is:
1. You have footage from a drone on an SD card, which you can transfer onto your desktop/laptop. You can then import that footage/clip/file into the media room of your new project. Or upload to google drive and then download to your desktop.
2. You have video clip(s) on your cellphone which you want to export to your desktop/laptop. If you phone is an Android phone you can connect the phone to the desktop. If you can't see the phones internal folders google how to. If the phone is an iPhone I have no idea but I presume it's possible. Or upload to Apple's cloud and download to your machine. Then import into the media room.
Once in the media room you can cut and mix at will.

I came across an interesting feature today, possibly a reflection of my broken machine, my appalling finger trouble but maybe not. I dragged the Mountain bike clip onto track 1, added a plain text title to track 2, resulting in Image 1. Clicked the "Scale keyframe and the text became Italic Image 2. Image 3 is simply there for information. Removing the "Scale Keyframe" and the text becomes normal. This seems to be repeatable on my machine.

You could go ahead and produce everything as is first. If you are still concerned with the safe tv zone, then put the produced files on the timeline and resize them on the preview screen with the tv safe zone turned on and/or in the PiP designer with the tv safe zone turned on.
Thanks, I hadn't considered that way of doing it. Mentally I was avoiding rendering and re-rendering.

I have a 15 png images (faces) created from a master image in Photoshop (the master contains all 15 face images, the 15 sub images have been created by removing face images from the master). I want to make an intro sequence using these 15 sub images, the video rebuilding the master image one face at a time, I have opted to shrink them in PD21 to ensure they fit in the safe TV zone. However I have been unable to find a precise way of doing this, invariably one of two images are "wrong" sized and the final effect is jerky.
The original master is complicated and I don't think masking will be possible. Any suggestions on how to precisely resize in 15 png images in PD21.

Still following this up. The only thing that I may have changed since the point where it worked was a driver update. So I rolled the Nvidia driver back to the previous version, it made no difference. So I updated to the latest version. The situation was still the same.
I still have a copy of PD19 on my desktop. I haven't used it since I upgraded to PD21. Started it, it wanted to optimise for the new video card/drivers which I did. Tried producing a video clip had all the correct options for "fast video rendering technology". Two versions of PD,19 and 21 identical sample video clip, two different outcomes.

Although you have physically replaced your video card, PD clearly is still configured to use the (missing) AMD Coding Engine. Try running the Optimize tool from the Preferences | Hardware Acceleration menu. You may need to close PD and reopen it for the changes to appear.
Thanks for this response, when I started PD21 after the card install I had the option to optimise for the new card I did. I have just done it again and it hasn't resolved the issue. I will try to remove all AMD drivers as a next step. The interesting thing about this issue is that after I installed the video card, I ran a short test to see if changing the settings to reflect the addition of the Nvidia card would make a difference to the rendering times . It did significantly, but when I came to render in anger I don't have the option to change the settings anymore. Such is software.

I have recently replaced an AMD video card with an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 video card in my desktop PC. I was hoping this would speed up the rendering of video. However it doesn't seem to have. In the "Produce" screen I have no option to use fast video rendering technology. All options are greyed out. Any clues.

I'm sure it is a Windows issue but having previously resolved it after a lot of messing about I thought I was clear but no, I loaded the latest patch "for a smoother replay" and got the error attached. No Power DVD 22, so it's back to VLC until I can find the time to spend resolving this again. It is the only piece of software that I run that has this problem with install and upgrades.

Windows 10, I haven't taken the step to 11 yet.. I'm not sure if its a Windows thing or a machine thing, not everybody will get it and maybe my machine is "one of those".

This is a tired topic for me that started with PowerDVD 20, BSOD when installing Cyberlink software. Dredging through my memory I recalled a post that said that Microsoft had changed the way that software installs meaning that as well as many things an installation process does, at the end (about 86% complete) it checks/does something to all the USB devices. So apart from my mouse and keyboard I disconnected all other USB devices (scanner, printer etc), and successfully installed the software on the second attempt. The only gotcha was because the installation process uninstalls the previous version I needed the previous license key for the upgrade.

Thanks for this reply Dave, I think I'll try recording in HEVC to see if the result is any different. In reality I normally want to edit the video prior to playing it as raw footage contains a lot of dross.

I have a question that I am not sure is a PowerDVD question. I have a short piece of 4K MP4 (264) video taken by a drone, PowerDVD 21 will play this video to the desktop monitor but does not play the video to a Google Chromecast. VLC Media Player will play the same piece of video to the Google Chromecast and hence the TV.
If I take the video clip and "Produce" it in Power Director the resultant 4K video (HEVC) clip can be played to the Chromecast /TV.
Any thoughts.

G'day prevaljo -
If you haven't checked out this thread (& its predecessors), take a look.
The thread test all the background music tracks on YouTube for copyright claims, including limited numbers of the Shutterstock music available in PDR 365.
Cheers - Tony
Hi @YnotFish, My comment about 365 was meant to convey the suitability of the 365 music tracks to convey the emotional intent of the video rather than a comment about the legality or otherwise of the tracks. I have followed the various threads here about YouTube blocking and unblocking.
|
|
In the past I've done exactly that, created a slideshow in PD Slideshow, but without a soundtrack, then in PD 19 added a soundtrack (MP3 files from your own collection or purchased from the Net) to the video track. Then produced the final slideshow as an MP4. At which point you have a slideshow video file which you can distribute or play, in my case I generally (or used to) export to YouTube so that widely distributed members of my family can view (normally at Christmas). The big issue with this is that commercial music tracks are copyright and you can't just use them as YouTube won't let you.
Last year I ended up buying a cheap no royalty track off the net, not ideal for what I wanted it didn't convey the energy and emotion I wanted to capture but it allowed me to put my slideshow on YouTube. I'm not sure if any of the tracks available in 365 are useable but as I don't have 365 I'll never know.

Time moves on, for a long time my copies of PowerDVD have been unable to connect to my Chromecast, even though I could cast YouTube from my desktop. PowerDVD18, 19, 20 and 21 failed despite my belief that the next version would resolve the issue. Yesterday I replaced the core router a Synology rt1900ac (definitely Synology and 1900). Connection to my Chromecast from PowerDVD 20 on my desktop is now flawless. I have spent hours trying to resolve this issue, raised a number of support tickets, reset routers, switches and Chromecasts, couldn't understand why PowerDVD could only "see" 3d headset (which I don't have).

For me this is a point in time where I ask myself would I/should I upgrade to Power Director 20 or crossgrade to Power Director 365. I get "jealous" of the seemingly endless announcements of the latest "free" additions to Power Director 365 that don't have equivalents in Power Director19 and probably 20 in the future, even though many of these I would never use. I know much of this is marketing hype but it still rankles. What is the general opinion of moving to 365, good, bad, undecided..

Hi,
My PDR 365 Business 19.0.3016 hot keys work fine, unless the track is disabled or locked as Jeff said.
Which version of PDR are you experiencing the issues with?
Cheers

PD 19.0.2808.0 (64 Bit), I think I'll just put it down to weird software behaviour. Repeated the exercise today put an hour long MKV clip on track one, didn't work, moved it to track two worked OK, moved the clip back to track one worked OK.
Thanks for the suggestions now I'll have to work out how to "lock a track" in case I ever need to.

As I am slowly improving my knowledge of PD19 I try and use more of the functionality. I tried to use the Hot keys (Alt left, and Alt right) to shift a clip on the timeline a frame at a time. On my system if the clip is on track 1 the Hot keys (Alt left and Alt right) do not function. If I move the clip to track 2 the keys function as expected. Inserting a track above track 1 and shifting the original track to track 2 makes no difference the Hot keys to move the track a frame (or any other increment) do not function.

What would be really useful would be to be able to see both clips in the preview window at the same time, which would make the task simpler.

I have to make a composite video from multiple videos of the same sports event taken from different viewpoints. I can place the videos on separate tracks in PD19 and can line them roughly but wonder if there is a way to move individual tracks a frame at a time to get two tracks aligned so that the cut between them is "seamless". Ok not totally seamless as the viewpoint is different but to get the transition as smooth as possible.
Ohhps a quick search found this link https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/48031.page#251225 so no problemo.
