Thanks. I'm looking at a Ryzen 7 7700X with an RTX 3070 Ti as the main components of an upgrade.

I searched for hardware-related questions but didn't see any. I built my i7-4790 based system several years ago and am thinking about an upgrade. I"m hitting 100% at points during rendering so I plan on a new system because I've maxed out this motherboard. My graphics card - Nvidia GTX 980 - needs an update as well. I often process 4K video so the system has to handle that. Don't want to buy too much higher than my need. Not going to be processing video higher than 4K. I also drive 3 screens - 2 4K and 1 1080p - using TDAmeritrade's Thinkorswim stock trading software and usually have 10 charting windows open at once. The number of choices is a little daunting. I'm hardware agnostic. Any suggestions? Oh, and I have the 365 Director Suite subscription that is up to date. Thanks.

Thanks for your help.

Nice. Thanks. The link to the preset was broken - Cyberlink gave an error message. Maybe I can search for it if you give me the name. If the link works for you then maybe it's a permissions thing. Thanks also for pointing me to the profile generator. I appreciate your replies and assume by this point that if someone else had a profile specifically for the CGO3 then they would have posted so this looks like the way to go.

Hello tpallred1,
I'm afraid my lengthy response just went AWOL & I have to try to remember what I wrote
You're right on two counts. The CGO3 does use the same Sony IMX177 sensor as the Phantom 3 Pro & GoPro Hero 4. It's also true that there's no lens correction profile available (Adobe doesn't have one either). Note that it's the lens that causes distortion, rather than the sensor.
My experience is that there's very little distortion in photos from the CGO3, whether DNG or JPG. An example is attached.
Could you please post a photo showing the issue you're having?
PIX
Here are a few shot specifically to show lens distortion. YUN00037 shows the distortion exists on all 4 sides. When I first got the camera I sent these shots to Yuneec because they advertised a "distortion free" lens. They said this was what they considered distortion free and there was nothing to be done to improve it.
Thanks.

I've heard it's the same Sony sensor as in the DJI Phantom 3 Pro but DirectorZone doesn't have a lens profile for either. I put in a request but aren't expecting much due to volumes. Anyone have one?

tpallred, try uninstalling PD14 and let it uninstall QuickTime and SmartSound (if you're prompted to). Then reinstall PD14 from your original disc/installer download and test.
Also update QuickTime to v7.7.8, then apply the previous PD14 patch
Thanks, I'll give that a shot when I've finished my current project. Got a response from Cyberlink support requesting additional information but the start of their message referred to a completely different problem with a different product so I've asked them to verify that they didn't confuse my issue with another user's.
Kind of disappointing how useless Cyberlink support is. Their last suggestion was to uninstall/reinstall and then apply the patch AGAIN! Like there is any way in the world I'm going to reinstall that patch given they've offered zero reasons why installing the patch created the problems in the first place. I was just looking at the release notes for the patch and one of the claims is "Enhances program stability by fixing several crash and hanging issues encountered by some users." These are exactly the problems this patch introduced. Anyway, PD14 was reinstalled without SmartSound (don't think I used it before) and I checked that QT is already v7.7.8. This leaves me with a stable build 2019 like I had before the patch. Thanks.

Turned off dual display, reduced preview resolution, unchecked shadow files. Can now view/edit/save short sections but even though the preview window appears to play smoothly at the right speed, it doesn't correspond to the timemarker on the timeline after a few seconds. When I stop playback the correct frame for the timemarker displays after a few seconds. I can produce without problems so I'm not completely dead in the water anymore.

|
Now I can't even playback a project in the editor without the program crashing. I upgraded to 14 from 13 so I'm not even sure where to start with rolling this piece of junk back to something that works. I've got vids to produce and I'm standing still because my software vendor decided to create a problem for me where none existed.

Is this supposed to fix all the program crashes I've been getting since installing the patch I was notified of yesterday? I'm running Win 7 and I can't even playback a project in the editor anymore without PD14 crashing.
I decided to install this patch since I was hosed by the first patch and I figured I didn't have anything to lose. Still crashes on playback in Edit mode.

I've got Win7 and after downloading the patch tonight I've had two crashes just operating the program. This project gave me no problems until after the patch install so the problem isn't just Windows 10.

The 960 has been working great so far. I'm using PD14 for the 4K stuff. Thanks for the link.

After much thought I went with a dual monitor setup having a 28" UDH 4K monitor with a second monitor 23" HD1080p. Still getting used to it but I''m learning to like it.
|
|
Yeah, that's what I thought it was for but my system plays it back at normal speed except for the chop. Oh well, doesn't matter.
|
|
The 120fps was for 1080, not 4K. I don't have anything that records 4K @ 120fps. The 1080 120fps still isn't completely smooth although the 4K is. It was just for testing. I don't have a real need to produce or display it.

The problem was QuickTime. Plays perfectly with VLC. My heart is beating again. Next I'll try PD13.

No, I'm talking about just playing 4K video, not editing. I ran my proposed build by at least 4 hardware forums, and asked here, and all comments were that it should do the job. Now that I'm posting about the choppy video, everybody is like "OMG! Why did you buy such an underpowered GPU? That's not going to work!" Even EVGA advertises the 960 as 4K capable so I'm kind of lost at the moment.

Just built the following machine http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DjNPBm and feeling heartsick. It doesn't play 4K or 1080p@120fps any better than my Dell Inspiron 570 with upgraded Phenom II 945 CPU and GTX 750 Ti with 8GB of RAM. Hesitates and jerks along. Windows performance monitor shows it only using 3GB of RAM and 14% of the CPU. I know other people are playing/editing 4K with this same setup. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

I guess I should just ask them directly. I don't expect they'll say when 14 is due but maybe they can tell what the upgrade path/price will be.
