Very valid Dafydd ... I have been caught by 'links', though some time ago. Browsers etc nowadays can be 'stitched up' much tighter to help avoid these intrusions.
Ref Thread : Recording pc screen & sound

... I'm calling a halt now to this thread, interesting as it is. All are third party software. Dafydd ...
Understood Dafydd ... are there any Cyberlink products that can 'Screen Capture?'

And let me say thank you to members who helped me with this subject ...it's all a part of enabling me to improve my knowledge and use of PD10. I have chosen a product but I won't say which one
Ron

Thanks for this link ... it seems much more professional than the one I found. Will give it a go.
G'day Tony, thanks for your quick reply.

Yes, I am aware of and use video download snips from time to time but perhaps I did not really make myself understood ... not knowing the 'techo language' to phrase my query correctly

As you will know better than I, a lot of 'stuff' that one can watch online is not available as a download. Thus its a matter of capturing as it happens. But having no knowledge of 'capture' software and being very cautious about installing software that I have no knowledge about ... among 'us' there will be many with the knowledge I lack.

Ron
It would be useful to include occasional on-line video snips within a Production.
Are there any recommendations from members on suitable software (preferably free!) or perhaps someone has experience of this free software for directly recording a video programme being watching on a pc.

Thank you Ron
How easy when you 'get the clues' ... thanks a lot for quick replies & both from Aussie Shows we care!
I am ex Melb (lived up in the hills at Olinda) so that's maybe why I can (just) handle our long winters here.

I have a small video I created using another programme which I plan to email as an attachment. I want to trim it to remove the last 'advertising' section ... it can't be trimmed in the creating programme. You can't create these files without suffering a lot of advertising of the software. And its a fully paid for programme ... grr

I can import into PD10 and trim out what I do not need but what is the best way to 'Produce' so as not to significantly enlarge the file size. The emailed video will only be played on a pc and HD quality is not needed.

The original file details are:
Video Clip (.avi) approx 3.4Mb (but will be smaller when trimmed)
Frame width 637 & height 440 (obtained from Properties)
25 frames/sec

I must be missing a few brain cells but can't seem to solve without help.
Thanks in advance
Ron

Lots of good advice, interesting to read thanks.

I think Hal made a very valuable comment:
Take their time while editing. Don't try to rush the editing process.
I use a reasonable spec laptop and in my view the times that I got into strife were when I tried to 'go fast' during Editing.
You have to learn to be a bit 'relaxed' 'cause some things need a bit of time.

On the subject of price of electronics in Norway ... we have good prices generally on pc's, camera's and the like. 'Good' being relative to Europe or (say) Australia. I came here from Australia and during recent visits I have never been encouraged to part with cash to buy there ... disregarding the sometimes limiting warranty factors that suppliers invoke! But if there were a nice currency exchange rate shift ...
Everything else in Norway is really expensive ... don't even ask about gas (petrol) at the equivalent of US$11 per American gallon!
Thanks for all your clues to solving this ... seems there are a number of possibilities.
Spotlight seems a good way to solve a highlight with feathered edge. Will experiment more, maybe import effect from another editing programme.

Great that you folks give your time to problem solving.
Thanks for these shots but not quite what I was seeking to solve.
I want to select a part of a picture as per example but remove the sharp edge so that it is gradual from faded to the highlight. I am not looking to create a border ... rather the reverse. I have tried placing the same picture directly below but can't seem to solve it.
The Mask has a solid outline.
Is it possible to have this graduated instead of a sharp outline edge
Real useful info ... thanks. I've also been getting into a mess with this

Interestingly shortening eg a Title from the right moves everything on that track to the left but making it longer does not alter other positions to the right unless they in direct contact.
Thanks Dafydd ... I searched in our Forums but didn't think of Cyberlink FAQ's!
Just for now I will 'click off' the two Hardware Acceleration features to see what happens ... curious to 'see' the difference.
Sorry to have taken your time unnecessarily.
I am getting the occasional pc reports that this module has stopped working.
However it seems to recover automatically.
I am guessing that it occurs when I am working PD10 hard? Not a major problem but 'what does Rich Video do?'
I'm a novice but what springs to mind is to Split the clips and modify those 'individual sections'. Once relinked up it should result in what you are looking for ... but I'm sure one of our experts will suggest a much improved method
Hello and welcome from me.

I use an HP laptop with Intel i7 2630QM processor, 8GB memory, Radeon (TM) HD 6770M Graphics and a 625GB hard drive. Nothing real special (compared with many of our forum members) but it works fine. Yes I get the occasional lockups, failures etc but mostly this is due to my trying to rush everything!

PD10 is a great product and easy to use by novices ... I am one.

Welcome to us ... we are nice mostly
Download and installation done without complications ...
Interesting description Jim.
Shifting pixels will alter what we see. Will do a bit more studying.
Thanks for your comment James.
Can't quite understand how 'incorrect colours' come out more or less OK when produced/uploaded. I will have to experiment a bit but maybe someone knows why such a 'green shift' until colour corrected eg a colour shift to 'opposites'.
I have had a look at various web pages and so far I have not seen this mentioned ... mabe it is just PD10. Can get some good effects though
Been having a bit of a play with 'basic' 3D on a few jpeg pics.

Whilst I can easily create the 3D effect, I always get incorrect colours - there is a strong shift from any red/brownish colours to lightish green. I can partly overcome this by adjusting the Colour Hue but is this usually necessary?

As far as I know I have the correct red/cyan viewing glasses but maybe there is a very specific 'special 'specification for glasses needed with PD10 conversions?
Found the answer thanks in PD9
