Steve -

I wouldn't be happy either!

What internet security/anti-virus software are you using? When you went to the site, did your security software give you any alert?

I've never seen any torrent sites posted in the forum. Never.

What is the site you suspect may have caused the issue? I'm sure that members would want to know, in order to avoid further problems.

I'd do a full scan of your PC to isolate the problem... depends on the security software you're using.

Cheers - Tony

What are the links?

So the forum moderator can investigate and delete them if they actually link to a virus or hijacking site or torrent site.... Never seen it before in here, but that does not mean it can't happen I guess...

I can see getting a copyright problem...... __________________________________________

Did Steve provide you with the link? I'm sure other members would like to be aware of potential risks.

As far as I'm aware Steve is still investigating what links if any caused the problem. He's having difficulty identifying the source and his own browser history, due to the effect of his total system crash etc.

The link I tested for Steve was ok.

Steve should do a follow up post.

Potential risk = Any hyper-link posted to a non-CyberLink site should be treated with caution! Any linked image, video or web page to a program hosted by a third party and not by CyberLink should be treated with caution and care must be exercised. CyberLink are not responsible for checking links, members are.

Very valid Dafydd ... I have been caught by 'links', though some time ago. Browsers etc nowadays can be 'stitched up' much tighter to help avoid these intrusions. CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)

Did you try to run in safe mode and look at your browsing history???

Could have.... What browser are you using? It may still be available even after a restore...

I would still bet the ranch it did not happen from here, as it would have been discovered within minutes of it being posted, flags and warnings would have been raised and the moderators would have deleted the thread.... The guys and gals in here are pretty sharp, and we always look at links....

Even a hijacked browser is fairly easy to "fix" now days after you figure out what hijacker you caught. Done in safe mode.
