My guess is not enough memory
Quicktime is the problem
When you watch it on the 1920 x 1200 monitor. Do you have black bars on the top and bottom? You should. Otherwise the monitor is stretching the video. That would be one of your settings on the monitor itself.
You need to set the desktop resolution and the game resolution and the screen recorder to 1920 x 1080. Then record in full screen. That's the only way it works for me.
Thank you for your comment. I've learned allot about LUT's since you brought them to my attention in your previous post. My preset is for flat & native settings on the GoPro which allows the camera to pick up much more detail. The ProTune settings are much too vivid and over saturated for my liking. I tried to make my preset much more natural. Thanks again for all your help. I like to say "I know enough to be dangerous"
Hey, Thanks for that PIX. I've kind of faded away from ColorDirector and didn't realize histograms were included with it. I'm going to give it another look.
Thanks again.
You may want to check out this post.
Just download GoPro studio. Convert your files there to Cineform. Then edit with PD14. Huge difference. Yes, it uses allot more space. Welcome to HD video editing.
Are you trying to edit very compressed files?
I get that with MP4 files, but if I convert to AVI Cineform YUV files it runs smooth as butter.
Are you editing from a slower HDD?
You can get a FREE version of Davinci Resolve 12 by Blackmagic Design. I've been doing all my color grading on it.

Davinci Resolve 12
I have power2go 8 running on Windows10 x64 with no problems
Quote: Nice info, but why should any user of PD be interested in experience
at all,it just tells you your system specs you already know.
Apart from that one can turn things on and off.
It never did anything to help vid editors in any way.
For gamers it might be a different story.
But...check out the zillion of complaints about those wonderful
endless new drivers on the Nvidia forums for gamers and you
see it's a mess for them as well.
Best move for vid editors is to avoid anything geforce experience
like the plague.
If you really want to update graphics driver one can do it through
device manager..right?
Anyway...thanks for the heads up.

Maybe one uses his computer for more than just video editing.
You only need your key to make it work.
What speed HDD are you running files from? Transfer the files to a SSD if possible and try again.
Make sure you leave PhysX System Software checked.
Also check Perform a Clean Installation.

Sounds like you may be running off of the Nvidia audio drivers.
I've made my own video preset and uploaded it onto DirectorZone here: ProTune Preset

It's to be used with the GoPro Hero 4 line of cameras with ProTunes settings of:

White balance:Native, Color:Flat, ISO Limit:400, Sharpness:Low, EV Compensation:0

It is much more realistic than the GoPro color setting with allot more detail.
I downloaded a LUX that is designed to be used with GoPro's ProTune. I have a file choice between .cube (recommended) and .3di. Both are supported by CD4. How do I install them into CD4? Thanks for your help.
I just logged out , just fine.
Quote: Protune images are decompressed but not true RAW so conventional color correction may not work because it is a Cineform codec image. GoPro Studio uses Cineform and will give you the improved colors you are looking for using the Protune preset with the camera flat setting.

After playing around with differant settings, ProTunes set to "flat" seems to be the way to go.

Thanks for your help.
My reasoning is a ProTunes clip is much larger and uses allot of resources when editing. I thought if I could just apply it afterwards it might be easier to edit.
With the new firmware, the Hero4 Black when using "GoPro Color" setting in Protunes brings out the colors much more than before. There is also a "flat" setting which I need to try, then color grade it in post.
I going to read up on LUT's.
Thank you both.
Is there a ColorDirector4 preset to use for my GoPro4 Black instead of using ProTunes?

UPDATE: Get my GoPro preset here: GoPro Preset

or get a less saturated version here: ProTunes 1.3
