Dear community,

After hours and hours of trial and error I now give up and I'm hoping that someone can help me. I alreay opened a ticket with Cyberlink but no solution from their end so far..

I have a state of the art fast laptop. See the attaced DXDiag.

The problem is as follows.

  • When starting to playback a video initial it plays the video smooth.

  • When clicking in the timeline, al of the sudden playback becomes very choppy

  • Also playback of sped up video's in the timeline (powertools) is very choppy

I tried everything: enabling HW Acceleration, shadow files, open CL, and so on. CUDA option, which I had in PD 13 (if I recall correctly is gone).

Still having this problem. I have a lot of unfinished PD project but now I can't finish is because of these problems.

I've uploaded a video that illustrates the problem on WeTransfer. Please see this link. https://we.tl/q4XLcfn4Yz The video is recorded at 30FPS so it doesn't look smooth at all because I'm playing FPS content. But still the problem is clearly visible.

I found a few topics about this on the forum and I tried it all. Including overwriting several files in the installation directory to force PD to use the GPU. (http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45/46836.page;jsessionid=690171B47B3DA366264BA06CA4578B30) . Didn't work.

Hi Herbertv123

I can confirm that the suggestion that Skibum has suggested will most likely cure your problem.

Are you working with 4K or very high frame rates? Any of these will cause the problems you have highlighted, even on high-end machines.

Have a read of the post, it will be worth it. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/46177.page

Thanks. Will try that out. But i'm not working with 4K content. Full HD at 50 FPS. With PD 13 on an older laptop I didn't have any of these problems.

Anyway, I will try it and let you know.. But still I think it's weird that I have to do all kind of hacks to get PD performing well on a high end laptop.

I also don't see how the Magic+PD will fix my problem with PD not using my GPU.

i'm gonna try it, thanks!

Can this be setup with a watch folder to automatically transcode any files in a folder?
