I have a project that is about 77 min long. There is a 2 frame gap at the 53 min mark on the timeline that I want to close. In other words I want to move all clips on all tracks that are positioned to the right of the 53 min mark to the left by 2 frames to close the gap. I can't figure out how to highlight all the clips I want to move so I can move all of them at the same time. I can only highlight what I can seen on the timeline. If I compresses everything on the timeline from the 53 min mark to the end the clips are too small to work with.
thanks,

HI
Yes, I found the files and did as you suggested. Thanks for the help.
What I would also like to do is run a highlight over letters in a title that makes each letter brighten as the highlight travels from left to right across the title. I was thinking maybe this could be done by making a title with letters slightly transparent then run something bright under the letters so they will glow, brighten, or sparkle as the bright object or particles placed on a track under the title runs across the title. Another thing I was thinking about was how to make a bright glow underline to place under a title for a catchy emphasis.
thanks,

Hi Ynotfish
I found the splash images but they were in program files not (x86). I have a 64 bit system but I don't remember if x86 is for 32bit or 64bit.
thanks for your help.

Is it possible just to render so playback in the timeline is smooth without producing a file. For instance there are times when a lot of effects are inserted on multiple tracks on a particular section of the timeline. Say from the 3min mark of the movie to the 4min mark. Playback is not smooth due to lots of effects. Can that be rendered for smooth playback without producing a file that would then have to be inserted in place of the clips that are not playing smoothly?
Also I would like to request a title tutorial from the Pd Toots. The tutorial on whats knew in pd 12 has an interesting effect I really like. The projector lights up and then the letters light up. How was that done? Professional titles always have some sort of highlighting effect. Such as light sweeping across each letter of the title or a bright thin line underscores some of the letters.
thanks

I want snowflakes to change from red to white but it isn't working. Some flakes turn a little pink but none turn white. See attachment.
Also, I picked a heart path but the snowflakes do not follow the path. See second attachment.

I authored to a RD-RE 25GB blu ray disc. I also successfully authored to a RW DVD.

I finally figured out a way to author avchd video to a blu ray disc without transcoding. I have an old version of Pinnacle studio 14 on my computer. I don't normally use it anymore because I edit with PD11. But I discovered it has a setting for authoring blu ray discs using AVCHD file types. Setting one is Blu ray mpeg2 and setting two is blu ray AVC. I used the AVC setting and burned a very clear blu ray disc that was about 80minutes long. Conversion to a different format was not necessary.
So the bottom line is to author with a different program if you want to burn a blu ray from AVCHD video.
thanks for all the contributions

I would like to experiment converting AVCHD to both H.264 and mpeg2 in the produce setting of powerdirector and then burn to a blu ray disc to compare quality.
I have never created a custom setting. H.264 and AVC are in the same tab. Can someone give me the steps to creating a higher resolution mpeg-4 produced file than 16mbps default. My AVCHd is a bit rate of 17mbps 60i. So I suppose I need a custom bit rate that is at least that. Also there are other settings beside bit rate that I don't understand. Do I need to change them?
What rate would I use for mpeg2?
Again my goal is to make the highest quality video I can play on a blu ray player hooked up to a new wide screen high def TV
thanks,

Hi
I am going to rephrase my question. My camcorder shoots in AVCHD but to put the video on Blu ray I have to either convert to mpeg2 or .H264. Which is the better choice? If they are equal in quality at the proper bit rate then I may as well choose the one that uses the least amount of space.
thanks

Which is sharper video? AVCHD converted to mpeg2 or to H.264? Since AVCHD is in the some family as H.264 maybe there would be less quality loss in the conversion process to H.264. Also since H.264 takes less space more video could fit on one blu ray disc.

Hi Carl
I am still using pd 11. About 6 months ago posted a question about burning to bluray disc. What I wanted to do was burn AVCHD to a bluray disc but that wasn't possible. In PD 11 AVCHD can only be burned to a standard single layer or double layer DVD. There was no option to burn AVCHD to bluray. I was forced to convert AVCHD to mpeg2 before I could burn to bluray.
Can PD 12 burn AVCHD to a bluray disc?

Thanks, I had never thought of doing it that way.
I thought of another way but it is difficult because my project is about 90 min long. What if I could highlight all clips on all tracks that are on the right side of the transition and group them. Wouldn't that keep all tracks below the main track in sync with the main track even after adding a overlap transition? But to do this all clips of the entire movie must be seen in the timeline. When a 90min project is zoomed out enough so all clips in the project can be seen in the timeline they are too small to accurately lasso. Is there a way to lasso or highlight all tracks in a big project?
thanks

I have a fairly long project with multiple tracks. I decided to add a transition between two video clips on the main track in the middle of the project. If I use the cross transition all the other tracks stay in sync but I really want to use overlap. However, overlap unsyncs all tracks to the right of the transition because it shortens the clips the transition bridges.
I thought I could maybe lasso all the tracks to the right and group all the clips together but the project is too long to lasso.
any suggestions.
thanks

There are some good deals on pd11 boxed version. Does anyone know if they are 64bit or 32bit?

I have had no luck burning AVCHD files to bluray or standard DVD. I tried every setting I can think of with no success doing my tests with two short .mts clips one shot at 1080x60i and the other at 1080 60p using my AVCHD Panasonic camcorder. I have run tests with each clip by itself and with both on the timeline. I have tried burning at the highest bit rate as well as using smart fit. The clips play clearly in the timeline but when burned to a disc all video is distorted including the PD menu video. It doesn't matter if the disc is played on my bluray player hooked up to my HD TV or using PowerDVD using my computer.
Producing to a AVCHD file at a high bit rate first followed by burning to a disc makes no difference. I have also tried 60P and 30P in preferences. The only way I can get a clean video is to burn a bluray disc as mpeg 2. But I would like to burn as AVCHD to save disc space. My projects are sometimes close to 2 hours long and AVCHD is a better compression.
I have an old version of Pinnacle studio (version 14). So I ran a test with it and burned AVCHD video to a standard DVD and the video is very clear.
Is there a problem with PD11 in burning AVCHD discs? Is it me?
thanks,

Hi Carl
Preferences also has NTSC 60fps? Is this the setting I would use if I shoot 1080/60p with my camcorder rather than 1080/60i. My Panasonic camcorder can record either way. And if this is the case and I had both 1080p and 1080i on the timeline would the 1080i be converted to 1080p?
thanks again

Carl.
What if in the future I have some video at 25fps and some at 30fps in the same project? Will it add frames to the 25fps video and leave the 30fps video alone?
thanks,

I downloaded a movie from Youtube that is 25 frames per second. I would like to burn it to a bluray disc. When I placed the video on the timeline I got a warning that my preferences are set for 30 frames per second. Can I just burn this video to a disc as it is or do I need to produce it to a different frame rate before I can burn the disc.
I am in the United states.

Thanks, I found it. Do you think I should produce in progressive since my TV is 1080P
thanks
|

Hi Jaime
Look at my screen shots. I don't see the option for progressive for avc and mpeg 2, only for mpeg 4.
thanks
|
|
Woops, I made a mistake. The progressive and interlaced options are not available for avc and mpeg-2. They are available if you choose mpeg4. I won't be using mpeg4.
