Is it possible just to render so playback in the timeline is smooth without producing a file. For instance there are times when a lot of effects are inserted on multiple tracks on a particular section of the timeline. Say from the 3min mark of the movie to the 4min mark. Playback is not smooth due to lots of effects. Can that be rendered for smooth playback without producing a file that would then have to be inserted in place of the clips that are not playing smoothly?

Also I would like to request a title tutorial from the Pd Toots. The tutorial on whats knew in pd 12 has an interesting effect I really like. The projector lights up and then the letters light up. How was that done? Professional titles always have some sort of highlighting effect. Such as light sweeping across each letter of the title or a bright thin line underscores some of the letters.

Can be done in PD11 too. Just drag orange looking marks on the sides of the timeline scrubber to highlight a section of video, a "Render Preview" tab will appear above timeline which will pre-render that section for timeline playback.

Hi HT -

On the other part of your question, PDtoots can't claim any credit for the projector title. That's just the splash screen from PD12. It's an animation. So - the credit must go to the CL Art/Design department.

All we did was dig into the folders and locate the animation files... then (with a bit of fiddling) used them in the video.

PD11 has a similar splash screen. If you take a look in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDirector11\skin\1024x768\Splash you'll find the 121 images that make up the animation. Put them in your timeline with ehte duration of each set to 00:00:00:01 (1 frame) and press play.

You'll also find similar things (folders full of hundreds of images) associated with some of the titles and motion PiP objects.

Making animation frames like that is a complicated thing. Maybe try having a look at some basic animation tutorials. That would be a good start.

Cheers - Tony

Hi Ynotfish

I found the splash images but they were in program files not (x86). I have a 64 bit system but I don't remember if x86 is for 32bit or 64bit.

thanks for your help.

Sorry HT -

Borgus1 is right, of course.

For some reason, & I guess it's because (here) PDR11 was installed as part of Director Suite 1, it's installed in the Program Files (x86) on my PC - even though it's a 64-bit OS. I just copied & pasted the file location without thinking.

Anyway - glad you found the splash screen files. Do you see what I mean? Each frame is made separately &/or modified from the previous one.

Without building your own animation, you could get (sort of) similar effects by using something like http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/126378482 in combination with your title... or this http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/118388336 (just a modified version of PD's Flare particle effect).

Cheers - Tony

HI

Yes, I found the files and did as you suggested. Thanks for the help.

What I would also like to do is run a highlight over letters in a title that makes each letter brighten as the highlight travels from left to right across the title. I was thinking maybe this could be done by making a title with letters slightly transparent then run something bright under the letters so they will glow, brighten, or sparkle as the bright object or particles placed on a track under the title runs across the title. Another thing I was thinking about was how to make a bright glow underline to place under a title for a catchy emphasis.
