Quote:How do I effect the transfer? Can I copy the video from the packed project folder to a disc or memory stick?
Hi laurence1to3,
Yes simply copying or moving (the now portable) Packed Project Folder to a Thumb Drive/Memory Stick, is a fairly easy way to accomplish the transfer. Especially as USB Thumb Drives with large capacities, are so much cheaper these days than they once were.
I happen to use a STAPLES 18799 USB Peripheral Switch (linked here)...
http://www.staples.com/Staples-2x1-USB-Peripheral-Switch/product_837388 ...that allows me to access a 2TB outboard Aux Storage Drive, from either my Laptop or Desktop. It’s a pretty efficient way to transfer files between 2 computers, without having to constantly keep plugging a USB Thumb Drive (or outboard drive), in and out of the 2 computers, to transfer files.
But there may be an even better file transferring option available, that other forum members may chime in with.
Quote:Sorry to impose, but I'd be grateful for any further help you can give.
No imposition at all Laurence. That’s what this forum is here for. And there are usually many helpful members here, that are willing to help when they can.
You can Pack your project to make it portable, by first creating a new Packed Project folder. Then go to. . . File > Export > Pack Project Materials at the top left of your screen,
In the menu that appears, browse for this new Packed Project Folder you’ve created, and click OK. Your project will now copy/load into this new Packed Project Folder
You can then move/transfer the new Packed Project Folder to another computer (that has PD installed).
Now open the folder and double click on the .pds file, and your project will now open in PD in the other computer.
This video tutorial demonstrating Packing a project may help (?).
Quote:...a very strange message pops up indicating that the imported file frame rate of 59.94 FPS does not match the project frame rate of 59.94 FPS. Has anyone else seen this before?
Hi Dan,
I can’t really add anything to this thread other than to confirm that yes, I have gotten that odd pop-up message a couple of times, where it says the frame rates do not match, though the rates stated are identical. However, for me, this was with .wmv files, not .mov files. I double checked the frame rate in Media Info, and all was correct. Yep, very puzzling when one sees that message.
Quote:I should also add that my system is a 64bit operating system, but that there is no HD option available when selecting Preview in Media Viewer,
Hi MichaelJ70,
Just a stab in the dark here just in case. So please excuse if you’ve answered this previously.
But do you happen to have the PD10 Deluxe version, and not the PD10 Ultra version?
I ask, because the Full HD Preview option is not supported in the Deluxe Version of PD10.
Not to be contrary here at all. But you might want to take another look at the rules. You may be misinterpreting a few things a bit.
Or then again, perhaps I am. So just seeking some clarity here.
Quote:I only have a judging criticism of the contest, the winners of the various prizes categories are based on facebook 'Likes'.
While I was lucky enough to prevail in this Challenge, four of the eight entries got more Likes than me. Barry (deservedly so) got 6 times or 600 percent(?) more likes than me. So if based on Facebook likes, Barry should have prevailed.
Quote:So some people who are Facebook fanatics with big families or friends get a lot of likes and get a prize.
I don’t have a Facebook account.
Nor did mentioned my entry to anyone here, there or anywhere.
Quote:The contest also is not based on the entries skill level. . . is just the judging that I have questions about.
From Cyberlink’s Official Contest Rules #2 (of 26).
Entries will be judged by a CyberLink panel of judges by the following judging criteria:
- Editing Skills: aptitude in video editing - 50% - Creativity: Originality and creativity in video content - 50% http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/events/enu/2012/Q4/CreateVideoChallenge/prize.jsp (Also note that there is not a single mention of Facebook in the official list of the 26 contest rules.)
There is however also an extra monthly prize awarded to one lucky Facebook person (even if they haven't entered a video), but who has just watched and left “likes”(?).
I’m not sure if that viewer prize is rewarded by random selection, or is based on the number of likes a Facebooker may have left on the entries, or what the selection method is exactly. But there is a chance to also win prizes, without even entering a video. That's pretty cool.
So it appears Jim, that Cyberlink has a pretty level playing field here, where everyone has an equal chance regardless of Facebook. Of course the more exposure CL can get on Facebook, the better, marketing wise. After all, that's what these contests are all about. Getting exposure for their product, by showing it being used, thus hopefully inducing sales.
I just wish that more of our membership here would start entering (like you have in the past). And that members not be put off now by thinking that these are just Facebook popularity contests.
As far I can tell, these are indeed fair Cyberlink Challenge contests, that are welcome to the one and all who are willing to dive in with their entries. (Usually a 40 to 60 second video entry, on the theme of the month, is all that's required.)
If I’ve got my facts or perspective wrong here, someone please let me know. I’d appreciate it.
Cyberlink holds these Video Challenge contests every month. Each contest has a different theme / challenge to show off specific PD tools, effects, etc.
It would be great to see more Video Challenge announcements here, when a new challenge contest starts. As well as more participation and entries by more of our fellow PD Forum members here, to keep Cyberlink enthused about continuing to keep these opportunities alive to win the free software and prizes that CL offers every month.
Video entries are typically only required to be between 40 to 60 seconds long.
So whether (or perhaps especially if) you're an active senior forum contributor, or a newbie using a 30 day trial version, please consider joining in. The more the merrier!
Congrats Barry. And congrats to contestant Kevin for his win too!
Now admittedly, I only went back 16 months to only search some of my past posts. And I found that I had only been able to embed 14 separate Youtube videos in 14 previous posts, once.
Still, having forum navigation instructions available for the uninitiated and valued newer members who bring vitality, is certainly a good thing. And even though the expressed gratification really has nothing to do with this thread, I do encourage anyone who is unsure (of how to embed your Youtube video example as part of your post), to check out the very helpful instructions here…

Yep, I agree with Jamie-esque. Is this close to what you’re wanting?
If so, you can download the Packed Project Folder of this project in the “download box” below, and then load it into your PD11, by double clicking on the .pds file. Once loaded into your PD11, you can delete the sample clip and then modify, refine, and re-work it all from there. Or re-design the enclosed rotating circle, in your image editor
After downloading and installing this custom Motion Object template, it will be available in your PIP Objects Room, in the “Downloaded” section. You can then give it a Scale and Motion path to suit your footage.
I agree that one can’t really accomplish the exact effect in the link you referenced, within PD, for the various reasons stated above.
But here is a workaround, using the 3D Like text templates in PowerDirector’s Title Designer, and a round font, that can somewhat assimilate the example you attached.
Here is quickie / unrefined example.
Simply request it through Youtube’s messaging system, or via a comment on the tutorial.
If you don’t have a Youtube account, you can send me a PM by clicking on the PM button below.
Quote:Seriously - does anyone have any idea how I can get them back without re-installing?
Hmm. Don’t have a solid answer Tony.
And, though perhaps not the exact same issue, I do sometimes get this undesired anomaly (as shown below), when opening “my” Color Boards.
As Phil suggested, a reboot does correct and fix the shown CB anomaly I sometimes experience.
Just in case it may be applicable. Here’s a quick visual follow up example of Tony’s suggested possible cause, of a Transition not seeming to seat, owing to a slight gap between one’s clips in the timeline.
[EDIT: Hmm. Seems the YT embed didn't work like it used to. Oh well, gave it a shot. ]
Quote:...for example the "fantasy" in the particle section ...I want the clouds upside down, so that I would look like I am above the clouds and not below them. any suggestions?
Hi rytis,
Will this work for you? (see link below)
I believe it's the exact same "Fantasy" particle, that you mentioned is available in the PD8 group of particles. Though this version has been modified to display upside down (or in a mirrored reverse position).
Once you've downloaded/installed it, you can then adjust the course and direction of the floating glowing particle bits to suit your project however you wish.
- "Original" map in track 1.
- Motion path drawing (created and saved via Paint Designer) in track 2.
- Modified map “mask” with clean transparent straight lines (created in a photo editor), in track 3.
Actually you don’t even really need to put or leave the "Original" map in track 1, after you have completed creating your drawing overlay in Paint Designer.
I just included and showed all elements in the tutorial, to give it all some “context” as to the steps involved, for those who may be new to PowerDirector and creating a custom mask with transparency, in a photo editor.
PD does not really have any fonts installed. But rather PD accesses and uses the True Type font’s that are located in your Windows Fonts folder.
It sounds from your description, that you have re-installed your PD9 on to a new computer (or you upgraded to a new OS).
So the reason that you can’t see the Copperplate Font in your PD9 font’s menu, “may” probably be because the Copperplate font is not installed on your new computer in the Windows Fonts folder. Therefore PD can’t find that font or make it available in Title Designer.
So just simply install the Copperplate font(s) into the Windows Font folder in your new computer, and then when you open your PD9, the font(s) should now be available again in your PD9.
“If” these are the same Copperplate fonts that you’re referring to, then Free downloads to some Copperplate font(s), are available for download here, and might suit your needs.

Quote:How is this accomplished in PD 11 ?? It was so straight forward in PD 10.
Hi toddsta,
I believe you are referring to the missing justification options in the Font Type Settings window for the 3D and 3D Like text templates.
You are correct. There are no Text Justification options available for the 3D Like text templates in PD11. Just as this option was also not available, (or straightforward), for PD10’s 3D / 3D Like text.
This has been reported and a request for a justification option has been requested, directly to the PD Development Team.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if this justification option (currently available in the 2D text modules), will or can be added to the 3D / 3D Like Text templates, in PD12.
