Quote I'm archiving a bunch of old miniDV tapes.I have to use my old XP laptop because it has firewire. For some reason PD8 makes the playback stop a lot while capturing so I'm having better luck using WinDV. I still have a use for PD8 so I don't want to uninstall it. Would anyone know how to make PD8 stop starting every time I play a tape with the camcorder?

Hi I haven't had XP for a long time now so the old memory is fading, but have a look here and see if this helps http://support.en.kodak.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/25720/selected/true I would have thought the procedure would be the same
EDIT: The link doesn't seem to work so go here and type 25720 in the search function http://support.en.kodak.co.uk/app/home/selected/true

Thanks for the reply. When I enter 25720 in the search box it just takes me to a page to select country?

Are you using the second address? It works fine for me.

I tried it using Chrome and Firefox and neither worked. But thanks anyhow. What's the point being made in the article?

Quote Hi,

by default it's "," and "." keys to move in your clip step by step.

you can change this in the "edit" menu or "ALT+H"

Aha. I couldn't figure out exactly what that was called to search for it. Thanks!
Not exactly sure what this is called. You click above the tracks on the timeline to show where to start playing (or splitting etc) and it shows a line going through the tracks. In another program I could move that using my arrow keys. Is there a way to do that here using arrow keys or a mouse wheel? Thanks
Appreciate your answer. Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I tried your steps and they work! Doing the control select and then searching for the Sync by Audio brought me to it. Thanks!

Quote Hi,

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the issue.

I have a 4 camera shoot, with the video and audio from each camera starting at different times during the set up process. So I need to sync them up, and then edit the timelines, as I wish using all 4 video/audio sources.

I do not want to use multicam to produce a single mixed video.

I import all 4 clips into the library, I place them on their own timelines, I select them by using the Ctrl and select (as I would for grouping them), that activates the Sync by Audio function, and after selecting it, all four clips are synched by their respective audios.

I can then edit the synched timelines as normal. That would be a standard setup, however, as far as I know this also works with a mix of video/audio from cameras and just audio files from another source.

Is this what you are trying to achieve?

Cheers

Quote Or, just mute the split section.

Thanks for the replies. I still need to clarify. I often will record a music practice. I hope to sync it first with PD16 and as I look through various parts will mix the audio between the 3 tracks as needed. I do not want to choose between any of the 3 audio tracks before the sync. I thought I was excited about PD16 (trial version) because it seemed to offer an automated syncing procedure. However, so far it seems to insist I choose one audio track before it will do it. The program I was also trying Vegas Movie 14 just brought in multi sync too. When it would work (which was seldom for me) it synced all videos and audio on the timeline. In other words it did just what I would have done if I had synced it manually. I hope to avoid manual syncing in the future and just look for the simplest, quickest way to get a quick look to see if anything stands out worth saving. Thanks

Quote Hello Francois,

Please start a new thread next time...but anyway. You were in the right place. The master volumer for each track is in the Audio Mixing Room.

Dave

I found that Audio Mixing Room process baffling. I couldn't tell which track was which since the labels didn't correspond to the track names below. If I adjusted a volume while the music was running and adjusted it again it would change incrementally instead of the master volume. I just saw a Youtube video suggested in another post showing the horiztontal sliders are master volume in that Mixing Room. I would have preferred a simple slider on the track.
The horizontal slider controls the level of the whole track, the vertical slider controls the level of the one selected clip.

You can tell which slider in the Audio Mixing Room is controlling which track. The label on top refers to the track number I.E. Audio 1 = Track 1. Audio 2 = Track 2.

OK. Thanks for the reply.
Quote Perhaps there is too much information. Could you just restate the objective with less extraneous information?

Have you tried it or any part of it?

OK. I'll try. I want PD16 to sync a video track (with its own audio) and two other audio tracks. I don't mean manually syncing. I would like the program to do it. I don't wan't to have to choose one of the audio tracks over the other. I just want it to sync them. Is it possible. Not sure what you mean by "Have you tried it or any part of it?". Thanks

I'm considering PD16 after using Vegas Movie 14. In Vegas I can simply click on an fx icon in any audio track and I'm given a choice of any effects I have on my PC. Am I correct in seeing that the only way to do this with PD16 is to open the audio file in a seperate editor?
I have one video track with it's own audio. I have two audio tracks (of the same event as the video) recorded on another machine. I would like to sync them. I don't wan't to get rid of any of the audio from the 3 tracks because I want to be able to mix between them differently for each part of the video. Could someone explain if this is possible and if so how I would do it? Thanks.
Quote Confirmation please: adjusting the audio level and fade rate manually on the timeline does not work.

The busy coders decided that it was time to confuse us all and change the way one can vary the audio vulome on a track by incorporating a new function for varing the volume using key frames activated by the Ctrl key. How wonderful.

I think you're talking about something I can't figure out? I have several audio tracks and a video track. I don't see any sliders to control the individual track volumes. I ended up in the audio mixing room but that that seems to be something else (which I don't quite understand). I just wanted to adjust the master volume of each track in the timeline. Could someone explain? Thanks
Quote Hi FrancoisT -

In PiP Designer, you can uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio" and stretch the clip as you wish.

Also, if you right click on the clip, make the selections shown in the attached screenshots.

Cheers - Tony

Thanks, much appreciated!
Even if some of the features are distorted I want the video to fill the frame. I don't want the black areas filling the frame. I know I can select freeform in crop but sometimes it still leaves too small a video. Could someone tell me how to stretch the video to fill the entire frame after I've cropped it? Thanks
Quote Hi Francois -

Yes you can.

What you need to do first is import your video, set up the crop you want, then produce to create a "new" video. Repeat that for your other cropped version, so you now have 3 videos each with the same audio.

In the attached screenshot, that's what's been done (except that I started with 2 camera shoots & cropped both).

Cheers - Tony

Thanks for your reply and picture of how you do it. It's kind of cumbersome (I'm sitting waiting on one track to process now) but I'm going to give it a try.
I'm switching from Vegas. I'm really a beginner using Cyberlink so thanks for some tips while I get started.

I've got a simple setup of two musicians playing. Instead of individually cropping every time I switch from one to the other, or both together I thought I would copy the video onto two additiional tracks and crop them. I had hoped to then go to multicam designer and just pick from the 3. Now I don't see any way to do this since it only wants to chose from videos in the media room or hard drive. Is there a way to use what I guess are called alieses in the multicam designer? Or another way to accomplish the same thing without having to individually crop each little bit? Thanks
I am trying to edit a long multicam timeline. There are many individual video crops to do. I have to hit "edit/video image", then "power tools","crop & Zoom",Then (in my case) "Freeform"then "OK" and then the x in the right corner so the timeline video will continue past the edited clip. Is there a way to shorten this processwithout so many steps? In my case I will nearly always want freeform aspect ratio. I went to "keyboard-Hotkeys-customize but only found the crop for images shortcut. Thanks!

Quote I put a video in the timeline. When I go to "edit video image" crop image is greyed out. Why is that? Thanks
Because you have a video selected, More Features > Edit Video/image > Crop image works on a still image only.

For a video you can use Power Tools > Crop and Zoom.

.

Thanks!

Quote Your Asus laptop has been upgraded to win 10. You need to ensure that shadow files in the lowest resolution is selected and enabled. You will have to wait until all the shadows files have completed generating before trying to edit (green icons). There is no problem editing four SD video on multicam on your laptop. It is HD and 4k resolutions that you will have problems with if not using the right shadow files on multicam.

I think I'm grasping what your saying. I just found that setting and put it on the lowest resolution. It wasn't turned on before. So thanks for alerting me to that. Do I have to load all the video's in the timeline first and not in Multicam Designer? I'm not sure how to see if shadow files are ready. I put 4 videos in the media area. One has a green film strip looking thing, two have yellow film strip things bottom left and one doesn't have any. They all have green checks. In my case I'm putting in 30 minutes videos. Will that take a long time to generate the shadow files?

I guess they eventually turned green but I went ahead before that and it worked for the first time. I actually paid for the upgrade to Vegas Movie Studio 16 which continues to be completely unusable for multicam and sync.It was taking hours to sync audio and video and even then didn't do it right. After your kind tip this Cyberlink program seems like one I can make progress with. Many thanks!
