I have received responses from NB support and supplied them with requested and relevant info from my pc. This is a response from today:
Hi Tommy,
Unfortunately, this is a known bug that started occurring after the latest update of PowerDirector that we have not determined a solution as of yet. Our developers are working on this with high priority.
Your request is being put on hold until we have a resolution. At that time, we will contact you with further instructions. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
I did follow up that I am reporting this on a previous version of PowerDirector. Hopefully this will be fixed soon for all PD versions.

The best upscaler for the vhs video is probably the Topaz Video Enhance AI discussed in this thread: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/84306.page#348552 .
Here is your snapshot upscaled to 4K using AI and color enhanced with an image program.
|
|
The problem that the OP and the PM stated shows up in the previous versions of PowerDirector when the aspect ratio is set to anything other than 16:9 for the sample video. Changing the AR to 4:3, or freeform on a 16:9 video is not good. The workaround is to simply produce it and apply the color corrections afterward. This may mean that no one who used it in the past wants to bring up this bug or distortion to discuss in the forum.

NewBlue users should see this post: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/85971.page .

NewBlue fx users that have registered and subscribed to their mail should find a link to the plugin: Essentials 5 Volume 3 for $99 this month and a code to get it free.
I installed it and was unable to start PD17 afterwards without it crashing right after the splash screen. These are the packs sold by authorized NB dealers and not the ones installed in previous versions of PowerDirector. This same pack shows up in the other editors and works fine but not in PD17. Have obtained a PD365 subscription but is now reluctant to install it on this pc. Started a support ticket with NB on this matter.

Downloaded PowerDVD 21 to play avchd and BD created with PowerDirector.
It will play avchd on DVD+R 720/60p.
It will not play avchd on DVD+R DL 720/60p.
It will not play avchd 2.0 on DVD+R DL 1080/60p.
It will play an avchd 720/60p folder, avchd 2.0 1080/60p folder, BD 720/60p folder, and BD 1080/60p folder on both flash and hard drives.
Upon playing low bitrate avchd and BD material on discs or folders created with PowerDirector, the video and audio freezes every few seconds and then continues continuously like a stutter after video lengths of 90 minutes and greater. These low video bitrates are say 2800 Kb/s to 5000 Kb/s which is good for a 10 hour BD. Increasing the bitrate to 6000 Kb/s does not help.
There are users who claim to create 20 hour BDs material in the PowerDirector forum. I was hoping that there is a player for this. Has anyone had success so far...

5. Please provide a short video using your mobile device camera wherein show the reproduced steps in trying to sign in while entering your email address and password for further checking. --Vince
Let me just say that when in 5 they asked for a video of me signing in I said no, as at that point I was getting fed up, and their request seemed ludicrous. Plus, by asking for a video they were implying that I was lying about the issue. I instead suggested that maybe they should admit that they have a bug in their software. I got 6 in response.
As you can see at no time have they offered any SUPPORT, except to suggest I reinstall their program, something I'd already tried myself.
I do recall my first ever bad experience with support. I think that they meant your email and Cyberlink registration password, not your personal email password. The support was then able to access my Cyberlink registration which did not help to resolve anything. It is a bug so used a workaround of using only assets that worked. You can always change that registration password later if you are uncomfortable.
More than likely you may have to find the solution yourself. Many times with software installers that do nothing, I find that there are unseen popup windows that must be acknowledged to start them and to continue, and to finish. A lot of them are hidden behind my browser window or are on the taskbar as I do a lot of reading during installations.

Got a link in my email. One can download some Shutterstock assets for use in your projects without signing up and can place them in any folder on the pc. Here is a link from the shutterstock website. It is a 1 GB download.: https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/?s=free+halloween+backgrounds .

Go to the DirectorZone and sign in to check if you are registered there. You may also have to register separately to the DirectorZone.

Thanks tomasc for the reply. This thread has always been about the oem ver. of Media Suite 10, which includes PowerDVD20, that came with the LG dvd player I recently purchased, and how this PowerDVD20, once downloaded on my desktop that's running Windows 10, will not open.
Cyberlink support provided no support in resolving the issue. Nor did they tell me how to upgrade/edit/or do anything else to the oem ver. of Media Suite 10 to get it to run on Windows 10. In the end all they did is wash their hands of the problem.
As an aside, I didn't even realize there was a Media Suite Forum, nor think to post there, when I first started this thread. My focus was on PowerDVD20. At this point I'm too frustrated with Cyberlink to begin another thread in another forum.
Thank you for the attached photos showing what you have.
Look at these two most recent threads on the oem version Media suite 10. One user had to make a change in Win 10 security: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/85842.page .
In this thread the user did not know or notice that there was a popup in his browser that had to be acknowledged: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/83542.page .
These are oem media suite 10 like yours are specifically written for windows 10 and is not the old retail media suite 10 outdated version mentioned in the FAQ that the support team sent to you.
BTW: The old media suite 10 does install in windows 10 for most people as the PM mentioned earlier in this thread. You may need to get the knowledge from support. Give them the same information you posted here. Hope you get it installed and working. Just have to find the right settings on your particular pc.

Something is wrong with this post. It starts out about powerdvd20, a current product and ends up about Media Suite 10 which is unrelated. I have that oem version installed two years ago from an LG drive on a Windows 10 pc and it functions correctly. So do two other recent uses in the Media Suite forum. Have since replaced the components with newer utilities. Maybe a recent Windows update caused it not to install for the OP.
Once an oem version media suite 10 is installed, certain components can be upgraded for free to work in Windows 10. Maybe LG or Cyberlink changed this as in the FAQ link.

Thanks for posting what you found.
The Activation manager does not pop up in my pc so I never know that there are any updates. Have to open it manually to see the updates available. Looking forward to the next free set of plug-ins for PowerDirector. Will install, test, and post the results found without updating previous contents.

This is weird. I subscribed to the channel and received no notification at all from YouTube. It is as if this tutorial got immediately reviewed and may not have posted on YT even for a few minutes. See less than desirable content permitted on YT all the time.

It is good that you decided to stop inserting those nested projects. Saving the project in PD19 means a script (text) .pds file of your edit is saved.
Saving an avi format file means to Produce a avi file which is different from the term ‘save’ that you are using. Don’t get these terms confused.
You really don’t need to save any project files at all as you claim to do multiple saves each day. Why not just produce each avi file after you edit them. Produce them so that you have all your work saved as avi files the way you want. There are users in this forum that do exactly that.
Here is a tutorial on explaining the difference between the terms save and produce: https://youtu.be/0NFIp0obN94 .

Try this: Go to Preferences/Editing and change the set insert project behavior from Nested to Expanded and click OK. Close PD19. Reopen PD19. Do a File/Open … and choose that project. You should be able to open each of the nested projects on your timeline by double clicking on them. In your previous post screenshot it appears that all your nested projects tabs have the same exact filename. That is something I have never done and have no experience on it so you may have to double click say 20 times waiting for each nested loop inside another nested loop of the same name to open first. Be patient.
You can also click on the name tab of each nested project that appears on top of the timeline ruler to open it but only one at a time. You should delete each nested loop that you don’t need.

The best advice has already been given and answered in your previous two posts. Use Open Project instead of Insert Project or import another project to the timeline. See this tutorial. You can open any nested project already on the timeline by double clicking on it to be able to edit it. This tutorial explains it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy2iNPQRams .
Start -over question #1. Yes. No.
Start -over question #2. Use File/Open Project. Import assets like video clips, images, audio clips to the media library. Don’t import projects to the timeline at all unless you view and fully understand the tutorial. Don’t import projects to get out of the situation created here and it will be okay!!!
Hope this helps...

PD18 has the Profile Analyzer button that can do exactly what you want. Try this: In the Produce Screen click that rectangular button near the top left. Save it as a custom profile to produce the desired mp4 file at the same resolution, frame rate, and bitrate as the original.

Those are the content pack premium 1 thru 5 that was previously installed by the PD19. You should have the NewBlue pack I installed and the NewBlue Titler Pro installed if your previous versions were Ultimate instead of Ultra.
See this FAQ for more details on the PD16: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=20828 .

Whose decision was it to get rid of them?
This FAQ may help: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=26469 . You still have the ProDad in your screenshot.

This is great! Thanks for letting us know 👍
When I visited the linked page, a pop-up window appeared with the free coupon code prominently displayed, and all I had to do was copy and paste it in the order form to get the free plug-in
BTW: the same link I posted on another forum site does not display the popup code.
It looks like that link they sent me included my credentials to get the free plugin. Non subscribers and non registered users need to use one these links: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1323449-REG/newbluefx_skufil5rfc_filters_5_refocus.html#:~:text=NewBlueFX%20Filters%205%20Refocus%20is%20a%20plug-in%20that,also%20be%20used%20from%20within%20NewBlue%20Titler%20Pro.
Or https://videoguys.com/products/newblue-fx-filers-refocus
Or https://newbluefx.com/products/filters/refocus/
to buy the above set from NewBlue.
