I am currently doing short math tutorials - about 10 minutes or so. I am recording my screen using Snagit 2020 screen capture software, which is set to medium file size: 1080px at 15FPS. Typical output file size runs between 40 mb to 60 mb. Video is sharp and has reasonable window size. The problem comes when I "process" it using PowerDirector 18, primarily to add a custom intro/outtro clip - about 5 seconds, and add a title. I have experimented with various output formats, but the smallest file size output from PowerDirector is about 250mb, and with less than acceptable video quality. Reasonable viewing quality yields a file size anywhere from 350mb to over 500mb! Clearly, I am doing something wrong.
I am the first to admit that I know little about all the options for outputs. However, it seems to me that there should be some way to set PowerDirector to output a file that is similar to the input file, and therefore render an output that is only slighly larger than the input file, and at a similar viewing quality. I have tried using OBS Studio for capturing the screen, but the results are similar to those already stated. I need to use Snagit or OBS Studio because they are the only two I have found so far, that capture the mouse cursor movement when it is being driven by a digital pad.
Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated!
