Don't I feel stupid for not having thought of that for the transfer.

Once that is done, I should be able to delete all those wav and mov files in PD12 folder, shouldn't I?

Will take it one step at a time to make sure I don't delete something important. Although they should all be on my external HDD as I backup daily.

Thanks again.

Guess I wasn't too clear. I installed as I should. But wanted the project I was working on transferred to the new computer so I could continue with it.

That's where I ran into trouble. Some files were in the folder I made and others in a PowerDirector 12 folder.

What I don't like is, there are files in that PD12 folder from another project. Guess once I pack up the old video I should delete all files used.........Got to give it some thought.

What do others do?
Finally figured it out. The wav files in a different file. What a pain in neck. Trying to find out where various files are on old computer.....

Any way to keep them all together????????
New computer arrived, copied files from PowerDirector and installed, headset works fine except in PD12.

What can I check or do?
Tony:
Should thank you greatly for the tutorials you have placed online. What a godsend.

Tony

Tried to buy it tonight from Dell, and then something happened and we were cut off. So will try again. Pleased to hear that that system should cut it. Thanks to you and Carl.

I was going to get Win7, but very computer-literate friend who also had a computer shop talked me into getting 8.1. Just make sure not 8.0. as he says there are free programs that will put the Start button back on and it will look close enough to 7 that it won't be a problem. AND we will be up one OS.
Betty........
If I added an SSD drive, that is where I should install PD12 and my PD files, right? In order to take advantage of the speed.
I am hoping to order Dell XPS 8700

4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4770 Processor (8M Cache, 3.4 GHz)
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 2 DIMMs
1TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 635 1GB DDR3

What more do I need? How necessary is SSD?

I am not into the hardware scene, so need help when ordering.

Right now am using:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @2.40GHz(2 CPUs)
4096MB RAM (using 3MB)
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 1520 MB total memory

PD12 working, but must go into Safe Mode to burn.

Any suggestions???
I had to reinstall PD 12 program as with the latest update, it was screwing up when I tried to either produce/or create disc. Now wondering what updates are necessary.

1. Should I install all updates that are listed starting with 2109....or just the latest?

My program is version 12.0.2027.3.

I had downloaded and installed the update 2420 and all was working OK. Then realized there was another update 2726. Installed that one and the trouble began.

2. Another question, when installing a new update, will it uninstall and reinstall the program?

Hope if you help me, you will answer both questions.

I happen to be on a deadline with this video and am just hanging.

Thanks.
Not sure how to fix this as the preview stops running or hesitates between two specific clips. This is a new one on me. NO problems between the others. Looked for a blank, but not there. There is a crossfade.

Puzzled. Not sure what else to look for.
Sounds like a great idea...............

Thanks for sharing.

I put together a title and credit with background and music that I would like to save for future videos.

How can I save them? Don't want to have to build them each time. Or will I?

Betty..............
Yes, I know .pds is for project. Looking for the title file.

Guess as you said, the information for building the title is in the pds file as the background image IS there.

Thank you.
What's the extension? Couldn't find a file for title and credit in the materials folder, but when I loaded it, they played.

I would like to save them for future projects. How do I do that???
Finished the project, clicked on Pack Project Materials. When I checked the folder in which all was saved, I could see all video and audio clips were present, and only the background I used for my titles and credits, but no text, nothing else that was used for the titles and credits. Is that not saved????

Betty.........
Want to thank all of you for answering my questions. I have finished my first video using PowerDirector12. And on the whole, am pleased with it. Have to make one every month.

I had made many before with other programs, but needed help with PD.

Must admit, if I had looked at PDTOOTs tutorials first, might have helped. But as many are not PD12, still would have had questions.

This forum is very, very helpful. I have searched for topics before asking, have read through many going way back. Always learning.

You Senior Contributors sometimes use terms I am either not familiar with or are technically way above my head. And I can see that others writing for help have the same deficiencies.

But we really appreciate you.

Thanks a million.

Betty.............
I have about 35 clips in a twelve minute video I will be burning to a DVD. I want to even out the volume, if possible, as some audio clips are quite loud, others soft.

Do I understand correctly, that I should go into Audio Mixing room, select all clips on one timeline, then click on Normalize?

I have searched and searched, and many answers are way above my head. Hoping this might be right.

Also, don't understand the difference between volume control and audio gain. Would like some enlightenment, please.

But getting all clips at same volume is number one.

B..........
Do you mind telling me what software you use?

In PD12 when I select Produce, MPEG-2, it read "This profile records an MPEG=2 video file with HDV1 specification in PROGRESSIVE 1280*720 frames."

Regardless, what can I use to get the maximum quality without breaking the bank??

BTW, as a tourist I have visited Manaus, down the Amazon River, then on to Rio de Janeiro. Huge and beautiful country.

Thanks for your help.

Just when I think I have asked the question with no problem in being understood, then I find out I did NOT include everything.

I want a DVD that can play on DVD player as final disk. It is aired throughout the community on a closed TV channel, so I am trying for the best quality I can get with what I have.

Any suggestions are truly welcome.

Thanks.

B..........

Did a search, but no one really said anything about quality. Just that one could go directly to Create Disk.

Is there no difference in quality in final product regardless of which way one goes: Produce or Create Disk????

I know that after Producing one has to use Create Disk...... But if one goes straight to Create, the quality is no better?
Well, I saved on an external drive first, just to make sure. And you were right. I did not have to do that.

Having lost some files once, am very, very careful.

Thank you, again.
